Respect the greatness.
Tracy Lamar McGrady Jr.
H: 6' 8"
W: 210 lbs
Wingspan: 7' 2"
Bday: 05/24/1979
(30 Years Old)
Drafted: Rnd 1, Pick 9 in 1997 by Raptors
Current: SG/SF
NBA: SG/SF
Possible: SG/SF

Overview: An extremely gifted All-Star small forward who has had a hard time finding playoff success despite his surreal offensive skills. Has prototypical size for the small forward position. Filled out his once skinny frame pretty quickly. Jumps out of the gym. Possesses a great first step, a nasty crossover, and tremendous lift on his jump shot. Injuries have limited his once excellent athleticism, though. Developed his perimeter game early in his career. Won the Most Improved Player Award in 2001. Can get really hot from outside. Stuffs the stat sheet. Showed the potential be a dynamic player at Mount Zion Christian Academy HS, but needed some time to become the player he is. Forms a nice combo with Yao Ming, but misses a lot of games due to injuries. Durability is the only negative about him at this point. Seven time All-Star. Still waiting to make a deep playoff run. Cousin of fellow NBA star Vince Carter. Health will be something to monitor over the next few years. His star has dimmed a bit as of late.

Offense: Simply dominant when healthy, but not particularly efficient. The type of player that can put up big numbers even when his man is playing outstanding defense. Gets a third of his offense from pick and roll situations where he can simply dribble off and pull up, with another quarter coming from isolations. Impressive jump shot, but his shot-selection hurts his percentages. Gets incredible elevation and can shoot off balance with little trouble, particularly from mid-range range. Not very effective from beyond the arc, but still attempts quite a few shots from there. Operates as a bit of a point forward for Houston. Great one-on-one skills. Excellent hesitation moves and use of ball fakes. Plays the game at many different speeds. Effective crossover. Hard to stop off the dribble. Outstanding ball-handler at his size. Prefers to go left and go to the rim where he can finish explosively with either hand. Can get by his man when he faces up in the post. Great catch and shoot player. Doesn’t get a lot of transition opportunities. Gets to the line at a good rate, but needs to improve his consistency. Has gotten worse there every single year of his career, which is a pretty amazing feat. Great passer. Does a great job creating shots for others. Has become more unselfish later on in his career. Will turn the ball over periodically.

Defense: A superstar who brings intensity to the defensive end only when he needs to. Makes a decent effort on the boards, but could pull down many more rebounds if he wanted to. Doesn’t have to cover an opposing teams best player which masks his inconsistent efforts. Will take bad passes coast to coast occasionally. Will box out when his man is around the basket. Has a tough time guarding bigger forwards. Not an ideal post defender. Will cut his man off when he wants to. Won’t attempt to challenge too many shots, despite possessing impressive length. His stance is indicative of his effort level. Becomes a good defender when it counts.

The most official part of this thread (seeing all metro's threads are "official")

Is that there is no "e" in Tracy.

Officially.

Eh...I got a lot of hope in T'Mac...his game is more wiser...a good point forward with a jumpshot and can play a little defense.

I always been a T-Mac fan...this is awesome.

And we get rid of Jefferies ugly ass contract!!!!

YESSSSS

yeah im not stressing, I mean wear and tear there has been none for t-mac for some time now. If the surgery worked, and he has been in the gym like people have said. in this offense his handle his height his ability to look over defenders, and knock down mid ranger jumpers will be a much better option at the 1 than poohon.

I share in this optimism...T-mac will be a crafty veteran who can win us some games. He is no longer a #1 option but he should still be one of the best #3 options in the league. He also helps attract studs like Lebron and Bosh.

......!

*sigh*

I hope he doesn't get benched like Hughes and Robinson were.

I hope he doesn't get injured like Curry (and he himself) usually does.

I hope he attracts better guards (which D'Antoni favored) like Joe Johnson.

We will have a few games to assess his talent and can decide in the offseason. The contract fits our plans so it's not a gamble. The best thing is that we have officially created the capsapce we much desired. The offseason will be amazing.
Last year's pick, and 2012's pick for capspace and a potential revival of T-Mac's career. I sign-off on this!!!! Good day NYK fans!!

The best player we've had since Patrick Ewing. T-Mac might be one of the best Knick of all time. I hope it's not just for rent. I hope he signs for peanuts next year when he see what players that are brought in.

No chance Bosh going to NY, he doesn't want to be a side kick, hes the best PF in the game right now with 33 20 10's, and no way he would leave 30 mil on the table and you can forget about a sign and trade since clearly you have nothing to offer, Secondly with Jamison on the cavs, it would be hard for LBJ to leave the cavs, That team is stacked and why would he leave to wait 3 maybe 4 years before the Knicks would be a tiltle contender pushing his age into the 30's, I just don't see that happening.

I still think McGrady still has a lot of gas left in the tank. On top of that, he is going to be a free-agent. If injuries don't affect him, I see him playing at the highest level he can to assure that he gets people's attention. Happy to see him on the team and Welcome to NYC T-Mac.

Whats good is even if T-mac overachieves the rest of the season we should be able to retain him for a reasonable 3 year deal. An appropriate deal for an aging ex-superstar is something Isaiah and Layden never understood. Some of the people they acquired had talent but their salaries were way out of wack. We finally might have some good timing with the T-mac pick up and get some decent bang for our buck for once.

I've been saying for weeks now that I think T-mac has more left in the tank then most in the media seem to think. Starting Saturday night, we being to find out. We all know this trade is mainly about being able to sign two max contracts, but I think T-Mac has a chance to be a pleasant surprise to most. Welcome to NY, T-mac.

Why did you feel the need to activate a KO account just to prove that Bosh will stay in Toronto? I think one of the only franchises that has had a sadder decade than the Knicks is the Raptors. You have Chris Bosh and.......why would he want to stay and play with Jarret Jack and win 41 games? Doesn't really make sense for you to come in to a forum like this and talk smack when you are a Raptors fan....good luck retaining ANYONE next year...and good luck rebuilding after Bosh leaves your sorry ass
