    Default Get Rid of him

He is an average coach who isn't much of a game planer and half time adjustment specialist. He couldn't get the knicks to be competive after the league figured out his only offensive wrinkle: pick and roll. He was unable to concoct strategies defensively and offensively to win one game or make one game close in the Nets' series. He doesn't know the meaning of " the post". Never did he figure out how to get Vin Baker, Mohammed, Sweetney, Kurt Thomas Tim Thomas (four inches taller than Richard Jefferson, and maybe take their leading scorer out the series) the ball in the post. Wilkens is not a game evaluator. If the knicks kept pounding the ball inside against Collins and Williams, they'd have won at least a couple of games in that series and would have been competitive in the others. He elected to have his team shooting long jumpers which ultimately incipients Kidd, Kittles or Jefferson rebounds and fast breaks points for the Nets. I saw an instance where Micheal Sweetney was given the ball in the post on an errant pass while guarded by Kenyon Martin. Sweetney backed him in with ease and scored. He has maybe 40 pounds on Martin. I didn't understand why he didn't see that and continue to attack Martin with Sweetney. Martin is know for dunce fouls. Basically, he's a putrid coach. I'd like to see Byron Scott here or a Greg Anthony or just give to Mark Aguire.

yup well.. we dont really have any guys who are able to pound like that in the post, except Sweets of course.. KT and TT are too much of jumpshooters.. Vin might've been able to do some work in the post if he saw more then 10 minutes a night.

Basically, I agree with you. Get rid of Wilkens. We need someone who's intense. I want to see screaming at refs for bad fouls, not a shake of the head and a chuckle. I want someone who's gonna get in our guys face when they make a silly play. I woulda liked to see Fratello more than Wilkens from the get.

Summer's here and our options have opened up a bit more.. Let's see what happens..

I agree with both of you nycefnl and E_D. I just don't see the Knicks making a coaching change this summer. If it does happen, it may be around the middle of the upcoming season, if the Knicks are losing more than winning. Byron Scott is a good choice too, but I heard he is really interested in coaching the Lakers next season. Thomas should just take the job for himself, everyone knows its just a matter of time anyway.
