Korver, Camby Will Interest Knicks

Knicks keep close eye on Camby

By Frank Isola

It is the summer of LeBron James and every free agent after him is way down the list. And that includes Dwyane Wade. (If LeBron and Wade switched teams do you think the Cavs would really be the elite team in the East and Miami would be fighting for a playoff spot?)

Anyway, somewhere on that list of 2010 free agents are a couple of role players the Knicks will likely attempt to sign. One is obvious: Marcus Camby is the shot blocking center Donnie Walsh's covets.

It is already being speculated that Camby will return to the Clippers. But Camby enjoyed his time in New York and may want to give the Knicks another chance.

The other free agent role player on the Knicks radar is Kyle Korver, Utah's 3-point specialist. The Knicks feel that will Korver and Danilo Gallinari spreading the court, Mike D'Antoni can get back to running the system that was so successful in Phoenix. Korver is intrigued with playing in D'Antoni's offense

Adding Camby and Korver would be nice. Just think about how much better they'll be with LeBron as a teammate.

I can think of other players that I would prefer, depending on price. Anthony Morrow and Tyrus Thomas seem like better options to me. They provide the same skills, are much younger and have more potential.

i was really hoping we would move al harrington for tyrus thomas before the deadline...It didnt happen, but i would like to see us sign him too. I like the idea of signing Korver, it never hurts to have alotta 3pt specialists.

*edit*

We should go after Raja bell too, a shooting guard that can play defense

No to Camby unless he is the final piece towards contending for a title. Korver is good at the right price but is kind of a one trick pony.

I am not sold on Tyrus Thomas...he is undersized center. While he blocks shots and rebounds I still have my reservations. I would like Deandre Jordan, Anthony Randolph or Sean Williams just to bring length and defense. Plus those guys can all run the floor and finish.

Deandre Jordan would get buried on our bench, and one trick pony's sean williams only trick was disappearing and anthony randolph is an enigma to every one at this point. With camby and korver you get two guys who know what to do have played on winning teams for quality coaches over the past few years unlike the clippers rejects you wanted.

Don't mind any of those two. We can get Camby for cheap. He would do exactly what we need at the C position. Korver can be a good off the bench option.

Really can't see why we need Korver if we pick up Walker's option and have Gallo.

Probably prefer Reddick over Korver as a bench shooter. Better passer and quicker, just as good a shooter.

Don't know about Camby? Still think we should have a run at Brendan Haywood. Or look to trade Curry for Biedrins who is a very active big shooting high FG% and can alter/block shots inside. Bummer is he's got a big contract that cancels 2011-12 flexibility and has been injured and underplayed in the debacle that is the GSW.

I really like the Brendan Haywood idea. Biedrins shoots like 40% from the FT line, and i don't care how many boards you grab, i cant have that on my team so i'm against that personally.

other than Tyrus Thomas, two FA's that i believe could be interesting and had for fairly cheap at a lower level are Tyson Chandler and possibly Jermaine O'neal (only at the league minimum for age and injury reasons).

After Kobe Bryant signed a 3 year contract extension with the Lakers all of my hope for the Knicks signing free agents this summer disappeared.

LJ was right about getting Anthony Morrow...this guy dropped 35 points against us....just embarissing.

We should get Korver, Morrow, Camby, any other shot blocking center.....then draft a PF and a Center....we need a whole new lineup of big men
