If CLE trades for Jeffries, are they champs this year?

We all have seen Jared Jeffries defend Rondo. He seems to neutralize the PG. If only CLE assumed his contract.... maybe they're playing ORL right now?

The irony.... huh? They didn't want to help NYK get salary relief for 2010. BUT, worrying about next eyar cost them this year. The Big Z was worthless for them. Same with Jamison.

I bet Jared Jeffries would have made a big difference. He would have locked Rondo down, CLE wins series.... maybe title.

Does Lebron leave if they win title?

LMAO....What a pathetic thread. Giraffe would have done a fine job of taking a couple charges but thats it. Do you seriously believe JARED JEFFRIES would change the Cavs fortunes?? Bro get your head checked.

It's a fair point that JJ is very adept at neutralizing PG's but where do they put him in their lineup? If they leave out Shaq/Big Z then they have absolutely 0 protection against Perkins and KG inside. If they replace Jamison they lose several PPG.

You're right JJ would have been useful for them to help guard Rondo but there would have been a distinct tradeoff.

So far Larry Hughes was the best guard Lebron had on the Cavs.

The Cavs Guards has been pitiful the last three seasons in every playoff series.
For future refference "we do not want Mo, West, Parker, or Moon on the Knicks".

Having Lebron defend Rondo was a big disrespect to Super-Stars KG, Rasheed, Peirce, and Ray Allen whom when double-team still shoot at 47% this day and time.

Antawn Jamison was very disappointing in this year's playoffs. He seriously needs to consider retiring.

I like Jamison's game, but the way he played in this year's playoffs was horrible.

this is a horrible thread...Jared Jeffries? The bum that Donnie couldnt wait to trade? The bum that would miss open lay ups and shots from 1 foot away when he is 6'11?
Jeffries is probably the most over rated bum in the NBA.

He's only overrated on this thread. Other basketball fans know how below average this player is. It is ironic we struggled for 4 ****ing years just to get rid of him, and the people who are overrating Giraffe are on this forum. SMH

Who's overrating him? He was very good at defending the PG spot, long arms and quick lateral movement disrupted the point well. If you watched the Knicks you would have seen it plenty of times this season.

Rondo is playing better than CP3 and close to Deron's level in the playoffs at the moment. He might be a Scumtic but you can't deny his ability. He's even worked on his jumper to the stage that he's more than comfortable shooting it when he's open/coming off a screen.

18ppg/11apg in the playoffs, 2nd best PG in the league right now imo.

With Jefferies playing him on defense, 7 points 3 assists in 22 minutes and 14 points 10 assists in 41 minutes in the OT game.

It's a fair point, and there's no overrating here. Overall Jefferies is below average but he has his uses. Role players are key to playoff series, the coaches that recognize where they can shift their defense to throw off the opponent are the ones who win series'.

Rondo is the best all around PG in the league.

Does that change with garrbage teammates? That's debatable. But right now he's ballin on elite status.

Ballin on elite status? Damn right. Best all around PG? Not sure... Is his defense that good? When you see Deron drag Utah through every victory scoring 30+ with 10+ assists and hitting clutch shot after clutch shot you gotta give him props.

I'd say Deron > Rondo > The rest at the moment.

The Cavs needed help on offense, Jeffries is an F on offense. He honestly makes your team a 4 player team when your running down the floor to score. The Cavs would have done worse, why? Because Anderson Varejao, JJ Hickson, Antwan Jamison could all have career highs in points and rebounds agaisnt someone like Jeffries.

Ill give you the benefit of the doubt and say that Jeffries would draw one or two fouls and that would be it, and then he would get his over rated praise for being good on defense. He is 6'11, was a little more athletic than most big men because he was so skinney, he could draw fouls...BUT he would kill your team with no rebounding, no scoring, no strength, and a low IQ....

Jeffries should play a max of 5 min a game on a team, he is a bench player and always will. Jordan Hill would have put Jeffries to shame if he got as much playing time. You can blame Mike D for wasting Hill and over playing Jeffries.

Listen folks.... I wasn't suggesting that JJ would have played 40 minutes a night. I'm not even saying that he should have been the one and only (main) trade deadline target.

All I am saying is that JJ proved himself capable of guarding PG (Rondo in particular). They had Shaq, Hickson, Varejao. They went all-in this year, and went further in when they dealt for Jamison.

If winning it all was the goal this year, and they felt they must do whatever at any cost.... Then it made more sense to me to bring in Jared Jeffries over bringing the Big-Z back. For sure!

Having the Big-Z potentially pop 4 shots on the pick and roll wasn't as valuable as having a JJ to guard Rondo.

JJ would have given Varejao a breth, and could have been used in the 4th to guard Rondo, or brought in whenever Rondo got hot. Just an extra chip.

Given that he would ahve cost them NOTHING.... I think it is something to ponder about. Heck, they could have had both JJ and Nate for close to nothing.

Thing is, you don't respond to the points made, you just spout a load of opinion and thats it.

Shaq had one good game and Z had no good games in that series. As the stats show and if you had watched the Knicks vs Celtics games, Rondo was shut down by JJ on more than one occasion.

As I said in my first post, it's a toss up whether that extra D would outweigh the loss of offense, but when you have triple double machine, mo williams, jamison etc who are all capable of 20+, having JJ play 20 minutes isn't going to kill your PPG.

When you say all JJ can do is a draw a couple of fouls it just shows pure ignorance.
