It makes me wonder, since SHAQ has stated that NY is one place he would go.... We would need a C, and some bodies to fill out the roster.... At the league minimum...

Shaq has earned enough money over his career. He is annoyed Kobe has one more title. He would LOVE to do anything possible to prevent Kobe to win again next year (on Phil's farewell tour).

SO, I ask this: If Lebron comes to NY, would Shaq take the min. salary?

At the very least, we would have Curry. We can't trust him. So we bring SHAQ in as insurance. Not like he has to play alot. We sure will need him in the playoffs though.

He is from NJ. He would perhaps come aboard and go for the ride?

Sure others might as well. Eddie House? Kurt Thomas? Makes you wonder.

AGAIN. Role players. Bodies. Assuming we can't move Curry, or get much for Chandler-Douglas. Going with what we have already, we need a C and a PG.

Livingtson or Ridnour; plus House or Miller; Thomas or Shaq.

1 each (PG, shooter, C). Round out the roster, accept their role, take less money... all for the title?

I gotta be honest, I really don't want Shaq on the Knicks lol. Especially in D'Antoni's system, I don't think he would survive!

I agree, in the sense that I wouldn't expect much from him. BUT, fact is we need bodies in the paint.

Eddy Curry is or lone hope really. How crazy is that. Then again, as a DUKE fan, I just saw Brian Zoubek play a huge part in a championship. After 3.5 miserable years, he turned into a borderline NBA player. Where did that come from.

If Eddy Curry can return to 80 percent what he was a few years ago, he'll help this team. AND, aside from giving away our cap flexibility for next year in a trade for a big with a bad contract, who else is out there to play C.

Say Earl Barron signs the min. salary, and we get Jerome Jordan. We still need a proven vet. Kurth Thomas. Shaq. Something like that.

Regardless if they fit the system, there will be times in certain games, and their will be specific matchups on a given night, when we need a banger in the paint.

A specialist really. A weapon to deploy when/if necessary.

Get to the finals, and what to do? Leave Ama're on an island to battle Odom, Gasol-Bynum all by himself?

I saw Shaq b/c he would be that banger. Fits with the new greatest show on Earth tour. Big and experienced. Something left in the tank. BUT, most of all, probably willing to sign on for league min. to get one more shot.

Any thoughts on who could be our C?

Well said, the problem is there aren't many centers out there we can grab so i see your point. I think there a few free agent Centers out there we could look into. The Key though is other than Amar'e and Lebron if he comes here I really don't want to Knicks to offer anyone any huge contracts, so yeah I guess I would take Shaq for a year or maybe a Miller

I don't care for Shaq. He is only 1/50th the player he used to be. If he signs for one-year, perhaps.

I don't understand why he just doesn't retire and work as a member of upper management

I'm really hoping that Mike Miller or Luke Ridnour take less money to play here.

But, I think we could find guys who will. Alston, Livingston. The Big-Z. Kurt Thomas. We'll fill out the roster, and make moves in Feb.

are the Hornets really not looking for offers on Okafor and Darren Collison?

Because that would solve all our problems. We would have a Nice PG prospect and a C/backup PF who would be a nasty deffender in the paint.

@Ian_OConnor: #LeBron James in contact with Carmelo & Amare last night, according to an ESPNNewYork.com source. Carmelo pushing #Knicks hard.

Ian has done a fine job during all this, and has moved near the head of the class from a Knicks information standpoint.

So, if this is true. If we are signing Carmelo next July. Then we can't deal Curry. Actually, we have to deal Wilson Chandler to get under enough for a 3rd max contract.

Anyway, this means we keep Curry (and thus have to find a PG and a C, on a 1-year deal) and somehow plug our holes.

It's too bad we that we can't get Chris Paul here, at least I don't see a way his team would go for it. Not only would it guarantee Lebron to come here but we would have one sick trio!

you forget that Amare and Shaq playe together with Mike D and never won it big and Shaq was ran out of Phoenix because he slowed down the whole fast paced offense.

LBJ and Shaq never went anywhere because shaw cant play enough minutes, slows down the tempo and get tired too quickly, plus he gets injured.

Shaq should def not come here.

Bring back Earl Barron first. Then I say we look at a guy like Ben Wallace for the league minimum. I know he's old but you know he is going to hustle and he is going to rebound most importantly ( and he gives you 6 hard fouls per night). And I'm not sure if any of you saw one of STAT's back-ups with the Suns last year, Lou Admunson, but he is a fan favorite in Phoenix for his hustle and surprising athletic ability. He would be great for us.

That gives us

C- Curry, Barron, Jordan
PF- STAT, Wallace, Admunson
