Dantoni are all accepting their cluelessness of the Knicks and its
    organization with pride.
u have to excuse Kiya, he have been a big pessimistic Knick fan since 1999
when the Knicks fired GM Ernie Grunfield (an ex-player/ex-coach/ex-GM of
    the Knicks organization).
Two years after the firing of GM Ernie our best headcoach JVG quit with alot
of our great coaching-staff quiting alongside of coach JVG. This is how ex-
player Herb Williams became assistant headcoach of the Knicks the day after
    his player contract expired.
The Knicks owner and all of the GM's he has hired since GM Ernie have done
nothing to build or replace the big coaching-staff that Pat Riley put into
place to take us to the FINALS (twice).

We have 10 young athletic players on the 2010-11 new roster, these young
players could improve their performance by meshin with their teammates on
either offense/defense in a uptempo or halfcourt setting if we had the
"coaches" to make them stick to the plan.
It is obvious as a quack from a duck we will need a big man coach on the
bench yelling guidance for the signing of Euro-player 7.0 C-Mozgov switch to
the NBA league, where the rules, tactics of oponents, and expectation of his
teammates will be alot different from what he is used to. The Knicks dont
have anyone on their coaching-staff that qualify for that job for a NCAA
bigman. I dont recall them hiring anyone who speak fluent russian/english
    either.

u can boast about Dantoni's record and success in Phoenix while leaving out
Phoenix Marbury/Marion/Joe Johnson/Chambers were a playoff team when
Dantoni was an assistant coach for the Denver Nuggets.
u can also leave out all of the veteran players experience in the
(Western Conference of the) starting 6 men in Dantoni's first full season
as headcoach of the Phoenix Suns.
Dantoni not wanting GM Kerr to hire defensive coach Tom Thib, plus wanting
defensive C/F-Kurt Thomas off the roster during the same offseason, which
was the big talk in Phoenix during Dantoni's last season in Phoenix.
Tom Thib was on our coaching staff when we signed a walking Kurt Thomas
on the Knicks in 1998-99 season.

It is not a conspiracy or theory that Walsh and Dantoni is not on the same-
page. Walsh had to know about the "fued" of Dantoni/Marbury in Phoenix.
The sports media started an episode about it as early as June 2008.
Look at all the new players and 10 day contract players Walsh put on the
roster that Dantoni DNP without giving them a steady chance to mesh with
the same players or any players (its well over 10 new players).

Jefferies was never the best defensive player on the Knicks.
Jefferies missing so many open layups made him the Knicks worst offensive
player in the history of the Knicks. Winning the crown from Charles Smith.
It was assumed Jefferies was a Defensive player. But us Knick fans new both
JJ were a MLE "RED-FLAG" to FIRE Isiah asap.

Balkman is a great role-player off the bench to give u
    rebounds/blocks/screening/decent passing/and put backs (Bowen).

    10 Punch KO of Kyiawoman

(I will use bold letters since you are so fond of them)

    1. I am certainly not clueless about the Knicks or the NBA in general. That my conspiracy theory spouting, Darko and Balkman daydreaming friend is all YOU. I am glad you can be proud of your shortcomings and feel comfortable in your ignorant skin.

    2. D'ant became coach of the Suns and took them from a 29-53 record to 62-20 the very next year. That is the single greatest turnaround in NBA history. He took the Suns to back to back western confrence finals appearances and won 50+ in four straight seasons. He helped turn Nash from a above average PG into an MVP caliber and future hall of famer. He took a young STAT and molded him into a dominant big while making him the focal point of a high octane offense.

    3. The Suns could have won a ring had some things gone their way. They were in the West and up against Duncan and a Spurs dynasty. They faced injuries and suspensions that all played a part in stopping them just short of their goal. Riley and then JVG faced similar situations with the Knicks yet I am confident you would have either back as coach.

    4. European record as coach (pasted for you to be less ignorant): He remained for four seasons, from 1990 to 1994, leading the club to the 1992 [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] Final Four and 1993 [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. He was then chosen to coach [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], another major Italian basketball club. During his tenure (1994–1997), the team captured the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and Coppa Italia (in 1995) and won the domestic league title in 1996–97. Coach D’Antoni's Italian teams went to the playoffs each season, and he was twice voted the league’s Coach of the Year. In 2001, D'Antoni returned to Italy for a second stint as the coach of Benetton Treviso. In his one season back in Europe, he led the team to a 28–8 record, a league championship and [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] Final Four, coaching a team filled with many former NBA stars.

    5. D'ant helped lead Team USA to gold and was credited for the much improved and efficient offense over previous years.

    6. D'ant took on the Knicks job knowing full well that Walsh was planning a 2 year salary dump and rebuild project. He took the job knowing his reputation and win/loss record would take a hit. Knowledgeable fans knew and appreciated this sacrifice and understand that until this year he did not have a competent squad capable of executing his system or winning consistently. You and the other ignorant crybabies ignore these facts and want to crucify him to perpetuate your self admitted pessimism that started in 1999.

    7. That Suns team you boasted about that included Marbury (having a career year) got ousted in the first round. D'ant could have easily coached Zbo/Crawford to a playoff birth but that was not the plan.

    8. Mozgov speaks English you ignorant tool. Further your hatred for blinds your objectivity about our coaching staff. Afterall D'ant took STAT a young bigman and coached him into a perennial all-star so your point about needing a bigman coach is laughable.

    9. Jared Jefferies was indeed our best defender over the last few years and guarded every position from the 1-5. I could careless if you disagree but I will point out that you are ignoring the thrust of his quote which directly counters your ignorant assertions.

    10. Having an aging 6'10 PF in Kurt Thomas playing center in a high octane offense proves nothing about D'ant. He was a mismatched player for the system and one guy can't make a team play great defense.

P.S. Refering to yourself in the 3rd person only makes you sound more like a d-bag so I would suggest you put that and the rest of your bolded/red fonted inaccurate talking points to rest.

u should go to the Phoenix Board and find out how headcoach Gentry

u need to know why the Knicks hired celebrity coach Dantoni, and why owner
Dolan wanted to hire Isiah as a consultant after the last star FA had signed.
I did not witness any decent FA lining up to be sign by the Knicks on July 1st,
when we had so many Starter jobs open and available for the FA market.

Or do u actually want to believe and think the next team under the

when u had unsign FA Bosh/Boozer/Lee as 20-10 option too? the Phoenix
Suns organization was skeptical on paying Amare above 17M per for 6 years,
    so they knew something.

no body cares about how many NCAA Championships/CBA
Championship/Euro-League Championships a coach has won once he
coached a 32 and 29 win season in the NBA (except u).
Chicago beginning headcoach Del Negro had a worst team than the Knicks,
but coached 10 times better than Dantoni two seasons in a row.

Coach Frank Johnson was fired the 12th game of the 29 win season for
putting Joe Johnson in the starting lineup over Penny Hardaway, Penny
screamed and cried to the media throughout all 12 games (4-8 start).
Mike Dantoni coached the next 70 games of the 29 season as the interim
    headcoach.
Joe Johnson became the 6th man before Dantoni join the Phoenix
organization. Headcoach Frank Johnson final starters were Joe
Johnson/Marion/Amare. The same starters that took Dantoni to the WCF with
Jim Jackson/Nash. Dantoni only had more NBA experience than Amare/Barbosa on the Phoenix 2004-5 Roster.

First of all why do heck do you keep going on and on and on and on about Celebrity Coach Dantoni????? He's certainly popular among players which is a great thing as they finally would want to come here. The only other "celebrity coaches" I can think of are Phil Jackson, Pat Riley, and maybe Popovich and Doc Rivers. You only become a well known coach by winning. So why keep pointing that as a negative?

Personally I think coaches get way too much credit as well as too much blame. The NBA is a players league. If you don't have good players or suffer through injuries, you lose. Its that simple. Why do you think Popovich always deflects praise by saying hes got Tim Duncan. Btw the Suns won with Gentry against the Spurs because they had better players this year. The Spurs had a gimpy tony parker/ginobili and still gave them some trouble.

If you want proof, look for the Coach of the Year curse.

2005–06: Avery Johnson, Dallas Mavericks, 60–22 (Fired April 30, 2008)
2006–07: Sam Mitchell, Toronto Raptors, 47–35 (Fired December 3, 2008)
2007–08: Byron Scott, New Orleans Hornets, 56–26 (Fired November 12, 2009)
2008–09: Mike Brown, Cleveland Cavaliers, 66–16 (Fired May 24, 2010)
2009–10: Scott Brooks, Oklahoma City Thunder, 50–32 (???)

The media always votes for winners and doesn't take into account whether the coach is actually the reason for the wins or not.

Some coaches have brilliant systems and awesome plans for defense. However, its all up to the players to actually have passion and learn those systems.

    Lets make this simple;

    1. A great coach like Phil Jackson and Popovich can push a talented team over the top to win a tough series and/or championship.

    2. A mediocre coach such as Sam Mitchell and Mike Brown can't adjust to a 7 game series and end up losing their players' respect. They still win a lot of games due to their team having a ton of talent and win COY!

    3. ANY COACH WITH BAD PLAYERS LOSES. Media and fans all go with the crowd and bash the coach because they are the easiest ones to blame. It can't be the GM's fault for picking dumb trades or players being more interested in stats then winning right?

Dantoni has an great record in the playoffs with the Suns. Their only losses came against championship teams that had to fight tooth and nail to beat them. Is he the greatest coach in the world? Absolutely not. He certainly has some weaknesses. However, you can't expect to win without good players and this year will be a great testing point. Expect this to be a make or break year where Dantoni can finally prove himself yet again for all those naysayers who constantly ride the seesaw of what the media portrays

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery so thank you for taking my joke about you and proving it was so effective that you needed to copy me. Now what you need to get through your think conspiracy theory creating head is that D'ant coached a Knick team that was shedding salary and not trying to win!!!!! Each time the Knicks got on a win streak we traded our players for less talented players with short or expiring contracts. How hard is that for you to understand!!!!?? You are a d-bag pessimist and I could care less what you think at this point...3/4's of this site knows what an idiot you are as you embarrass yourself in almost every thread. Keep crying and praying we sign Darko, Balkman and Earl friggan Barron!!! What a moron!

P.S. The fact that you could not respond to my points should be a clue that your assertions and knowledge of basketball are sophomoric at best...

There really should be no more conversations about this. We have a much better team from last season and Dantoni will have to prove his worth now. Let's just wait and sit back and watch what happens. If the team struggles then we can all bash Dantoni.

Expectations are high this time around.

Haha!!! Funny stuff here. D'ant hasn't sniffed an NBA title, but TRILL is worried about CBA, Euroleague, Korea, Africa, maybe even the moon. How many titles has D'ant won coaching MIDDLE SCHOOLERS TRILL??? D'ant will be a much "better" coach if we get MELO. THE END.

Now if you want to have a debate how about you respond to my numerous points instead of making some juvenile attempt at an argument by distorting one small slice of my overall argument.

Some ignorant people on TV occasionally say D'antoni doesn't preach defense, and 90% of fans believe it and repeat it like sheep. They have absolutely no proof that D'antoni doesn't coach defense, and all indications are that he makes a great deal of effort on coaching defense.

We have horrible defensive players. Bad defensive players=bad defensive team, I didn't think I would have to state the obvious like that, but some people just don't get it.

If you watched our team last year you would understand that all the rumors about Mike D not coaching defense is absolutely true.

Quote from Amare in 2009 knocking Mike D's chemistry and coaching issues:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
"Mike was a quiet guy. Sometimes he didn't talk to a certain players. Didn't communicate as well to the players which sometimes can be a little frustrating because you want to build that relationship with your coach. You want to build that friend(ship) so you can sit down with him and talk about personal thoughts and also basketball. You want that friendship with your coach. Mike was a quiet guy.
...Then you bring in Alvin, a guy who is definitely a players coach. A guy you can talk to and say 'hey man you know', 'family situation here', 'or my kids here', 'my kids are doing great in school', 'how are your kids'. That's the type of conversation you want to have with your coach. Alvin's that guy.
You want a coach that you can really hug and hold and high five and really have fun with. That makes it fun play. You can high five and hug your team mates. You don't want to have fear of your coach. You want to be respectable with him but you also want to be a friend with him."

Here is a knock on Mike D's defense by Amare himself in a 2008 interview: “I love Terry Porter, his method,” Stoudemire says in the interview. “His way of coaching is going to be great for us. You know, he’s extremely focused on the defensive end, something that we haven’t practiced at all in the previous three years, and now we’re definitely practicing and improving on the defensive end.”
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

We never hustled on defense, we never tried to block shots, in clutch situations we always made dumb moves on defense like not fouling Kevin Durant to shoot free throws when your up by 3 points, then having him drill a three pointer to tie the game and eventually win it in over time. (That was T Mac's first game as a Knick in MSG if your remember). Why have David Lee start at center all year when you know he can't play defense for his life and his post defense is top 5 worst for all big men. And why bench Jordan Hill when he could have been used at Center being strong, a good shotblocker, and a good rebounder? Instead he played Jared Jeffries who sucked and couldn't block a shot unless the guy he was blocking was under 6'3 and got killed in the post. Then Jeffries winds up barely playing in Houston while Jordan Hill takes over his spot. Mike D's substitutions were the biggest question mark.

Mike D knows offense, to an extent. Jacking up three's on a team with no shooters except Gallo and Walker last year was a huge mistake. Chandler's numbers plummeted because he was playing Mike D's game and not his game which is close to mid range jumpers. Duhon lost all confidence in his shot since Mike D's style had him throw up bricks. Q Rich killed us with bricks when he was a Knick. Harrington was so streaky It would drive any fan insane. Mike D lived and died by the three with two years of players who were not pure shooters. We were athletic slashers that should have drew more fouls than anything else.

Now we have a team that can fit Mike's crazy style of running your butt off to throw up bricks. We have shooters that can hit open shots and a presence down low in Amare so I am giving Mike D ONE MORE SHOT.

So don't sit there and tell me that Mike D's criticism is ridiculous or that it is being over blown or whatever your claim is. He has sucked as a coach and now he has no excuse if we don't make the playoffs since we have enough players that fit his style of run and chuck.

If Mike D fails again to make the playoffs, then he is gone.

    Paul,

It wasn't the style of play dude. The style is proven. It was the players.. Those rosters were constructed for failure, plain and simple. What'd you expect coach to do w those guys we had?

Put the right players w D'ant and he does what he does.

I watched our team last year, I'm just as not as quick to immediately blame the coach when our players were garbage for the most part. In both of those quotes he's just trying to talk up his new coach. In the second one, he's clearly trying to deflect his defensive inadequacies on to D'antoni. Do you really believe that the Phoenix suns never practiced defense under D'antoni? That's bull****, they would have never gotten as far as they did if they never practiced defense. Amare was just making an excuse for his bad defense by blaming the coach. If he really thought these things, why would he come to the Knicks with D'antoni? Here's a quote from Jared Jeffries (after a game against us), say what you want about him, but he has no reason to be dishonest and has always been a fairly good guy off the court:

“I think that Mike’s a realist,’’ Jeffries said. “Defending, like anything else in the NBA, is a talent level. And you can’t have people that are not great defenders and expect them to be great defenders. Just like you can’t have people that aren’t great scorers and expect them to be great scorers. He put me out there to be a defender and he puts guys out there to be scorers. He does focus on defense, but if you don’t have defensive players, then you’re not going to be a great defensive team.’’
He added, “It’s not like he tells the guys, ‘Don’t go out there and guard anybody, just try to score.’ That’s not the case at all.’’

We didn't hustle because most of our players are lazy. We made dumb moves on defense because our players are dumb. There's only so much a coach can do. I'm not saying D'antoni is perfect. He made his fair share of mistakes, like in the game you mentioned and also that game in Portland where Brandon Roy was able to hit a gamewinner (I think from last season). But overall, you can't blame him for our team's defensive failures when our players have mostly sucked.

He had to play David Lee at center because we had NO ONE else. You act as if Jordan Hill was Marcus Camby, meanwhile he was terrible. Whenever he would get playing time he would make so many mistakes, and really do nothing to help the team. Once in a while he would get a nice dunk, that's about it. If you payed attention last year, Jeffries was one of our best defenders last year (sadly). We had no one but Lee and Jeffries to play at center.

So our players having bad shot selection is somehow D'antoni's fault? You're blaming Duhon's suckitude on D'antoni? We had a bunch of selfish, low IQ players over the years, that's not D'antoni's fault. He worked with what he had. What were you expecting from a team of mostly scrubs? The only players who weren't scrubs were very young.

Well, you clearly misunderstand the system. It has nothing to do with shooting a bunch 3's. It's just about, ideally, getting a shot before the opposing defense sets. For the most part, we never really saw his true system because we never had the players to fit it.

Why are you committed to blaming D'antoni entirely for any of the teams failures? Before the season even starts, your blaming D'antoni for any possible failures, regardless of whose fault it really is or would be. Why does it never occur to you to blame the players? They're the one's actually on the floor after all.

At the end of the day, I don't see how you can fault a guy for not winning with a team that was not trying to win. No more really needs to be said.
