Stephen A Smith: Mello losing patience with Knicks, Knicks must get 3rd team involved

:boohoo:

I'm fine waiting till next year where we'll have more options and a better idea of exactly what we need. We can't compete with most other teams due to a lack of draft picks.

If Melo really wants to come here, he can force it to happen or wait till his own free agency and sacrifice some income (which can be made up with all the marketing opportunities in nyc)

There is always CP3 and DWill to go after later if Felton doesn't step up.

Agree.. what the **** can the Knicks do? Blow up the entire roster for one player? Denver doesnt want to deal him to NY, plain and simple. Similar to Portland with Rudy. They just dont want to appear weak and give in to player demands.

If he cant be patient and wait for this to be done the right way, using his leverage to not sign an extension, then he can go elsewhere. You can just imagine us trading the house for him and then him getting hurt.. we'd be really ****ed.

Im perfectly fine with the Knicks holding on to Gallo, Randolph and Stat and getting an impact player next summer. Hopefully that will be Melo. If not, then it wasnt meant to be and we move on to greener pastures.

If this is true then he needs to relax and understand that this is not a simple feat. His team doesn't even want to deal with us so that's a major problem in itself. If its really that serious all he has to so is simply say "I'll only do an extend and trade with NY" Period.

dudes stop, this is the media as usual playing us as pawns, as well as pushing for more coverage and leverage to get the knicks to make a move, the miami threet is old news, and they need something new, so if they can pressure the knicks into trading for melo, it creates better stories therefore selling more magazines and more radio air time. The media does this with perfection.

By showing his impatience, he shows how important the new CBA is to him and therefore gives Denver more leverage. All Denver has to do now is wait for Melo to sweat and adjust his demands. If getting a new contract before the CBA is so important to Melo, Denver doesn't have to trade him to who he wants. But, if the new CBA doesn't bother Melo, then Denver loses leverage because the threat of losing their franchise player for nothing is a definite possibility.

Overall, I could care less about his demands though. F*** Melo if he's impatient with us. Forget him and let us move on with the players we have. Gutting the team is not worth it.

Nobodys a bigger homer of Carmelo Anthony then me but really who cares. We got a good ass team right now and I bet we will be a playoff team and we finally got players that are going to play as a team. If Melo Goes To the Knicks great, but if not, we still got a good young ass team with money to spend in the future. After Lebron this is just getting ugly and stale. Carmelo is not stupid he needs money and the Knicks aren't stupid either they wanna compete in the future and not sacrifice to much. Even if Carmelo really wants to play for the knicks (which I believe to be true) hes still gonna do what he has to do even if that means going to L.A. Chicago ect...... Once melo goes on the team you have a instant playoff team BUT Carmelo on this roster right now would be sweet and they would play with personality and play tuff, the way it should be. O WELL, Just hope he dosent go to chicago I cant root for them, it's impossible.

Seriously, **** Melo and **** the media.

He's getting impatient with us? The CBA most be scaring him! But NBA superbrats tend to have a tantrum when they don't get what they want. He knows we'd have to gut the roster to get him, and no doubt can't understand why we haven't already.

Stephen A Smith knows shit all and is putting himself in the limelight for his own sake.

How about you try backing that up while being able to read what ESPN and most other hoops sites are stating. Everyone is thinking Williams will be the next one to request a trade. Might be a cheaper get then CP3 at this point. Now please shoot my ideas down with some insight.

I think its less about Deron being available and more the ridiculously lopsided trades that the other teams would never ever agree to.

@stephenasmith what r the chances of melo ..coming to ny ..do u think it will happen? about 2 hours ago via twidroid in reply to stephenasmith

Stephen a Smith responded by saying....

@kingcaba Knicks must get a 3rd team involved. He's losing his patience with them. about 2 hours ago via Twitter for BlackBerry? in reply to kingcaba
Look I would give Randolph or Gallo for Melo with Curry another decent player and some 2nd round picks....BUT If he is going to honestly become a baby about this and say we are taking too long, then I really don't care where the hell this guy goes.

We don't need guys like this on our team.

Which is the only reason why I could be hesitant with Rudy because of how he is handling his contract situation.

BUT no doubt having Rudy and Melo here would make us have a stellar lineup but most of this game is chemistry followed by confidence and without chemistry, your players lose confidence. And we can't dump everyone for Melo and Rudy.

SO with that in mind, let's just try to get a third team involved. We have to try and trade Wilson Chandler for a 1st round pick and then ship that pick to Portland to get Rudy. With Rudy we atleast can give up Gallo or Randolph and not worry about Melo possibly playing out of position at the 2.

Without Rudy, let's just put a good deal on the table for Melo. One of those "take it or leave it" deals. Gallo or Randolph with Curry, 2014 1st round pick, and two 2nd round picks.

Not really if you factor in the case of this past summer of free agency. If these players "demand" a trade do these teams really want to deal with disgruntled stars? They might be forced to make a Pau Gasol type deal. It's not like both teams weren't compensated, when you deal an NBA star you might not always get similar pieces in return. That's the business side of the league, teams have to cut their losses.

And just for good measure here's a 3 team deal. Gives the Nuggets cap relief and rid of JR Smith, the Knicks get Melo, and Toronto gets some more relief (while keeping their TPE)

Probably just his agent, or Melo, shouting the shiite with SASmith. Stephen A. was the first to break that the big-3 were all headed to South Beach, so I wouldn't dismiss this tweet as totally unfounded.

Melo could make this REALLY simple for Donnie Walsh. He goes in and sits down with the new GM in DENVER. He states flatly that he wont resign, that he will head back East. That there's only one team he'll agree to sign an extension with if DEN makes a trade, and that team is the New York Knicks.

Without an extension, no team will give up much to deal for a 1-yr rental. I mean, maybe CHI will dump salary (Deng) to rent Melo for this season. That's about it.

Then, DEN must decide.... Keep Melo and get nothing in return, or deal him and get something (Chandler, Walker, Rautins, 2nd rounders).... Something like that.

If Melo thinks sending Gallo and Randolph, and paying 99 cents on the dollar makes sense for NY, than he's foolish. AND, if he truly wants to win then that would be even more foolis.

NOW, if it comes down to it.... And DEN is adamant they want Gallo.... Then Gallo-Walker plus 2 second round picks. That's the deal. Take Gallo or Chandler with that (plus Curry) and deal is done.

They wont get Randolph though.

Dude, seriously, stay away from the trade checker at realgm. These trades you are proposing are just plain ridiculous. The Denver GM would never agree to these trades. The reasons you give are just wishful thinking.

Need more proof?
Denver Trade Breakdown
Change in Team Outlook: -16.3 ppg

Denver can deal with Chicago for Deng, Gibson, Johnson and some picks... or with New Jersey for Harris, the rookie and a couple of first rounders. Honestly, those are way better offers than anything the Knicks have right now. The only reason it hasnt happened is because Melo has refused to sign an extension. But come January, even if he refuses to sign an extension, a trade like that will go down if any of those teams are in the playoff hunt.

BTW, the only way we get rid of Curry is to trade him to a team out of the playoffs in February who wants to shed a longer contract. If you think Denver is gonna take Curry you have to get a refund for that crack you're smoking bro.
