Scrolling through I mostly agree but Mozgov I think will be rated much lower than where you have him and I am betting Durant is rated a 90 at least.

Yeah I think mello will be a 90, or in the late 80s. theres no way STAT has a higher overall then Mello. I also think Bosh will be a 83, 84.

Frightening for the TWolves that Kevin Love is the best player on that team. They need to get players not take out ads in the Minnie newspaper apologizing to the fans.

Just from how I feel the ratings should be and how im going to re-edit the ratings to because they never do it perfectly.

Metro, whats the difference between Paul's 91 and Deron William's 88 rating?

Why does CP get a +3 over DW? If anything they should be even at 88 or 91. You can even make a case that DW should be above CP because he's more durable.

Paul is better.

But to get into it.

Paul's PER is 23.74
Williams's PER is 20.62

The season before Paul was 30.04(3rd in the NBA) and Williams was 21.13 (18th)

The season before THAT, Paul was 2nd in the NBA in PER, 28.39 and Williams was 26th, at 20 again.

Paul has always been better than Williams. People who don't do their research will be indifferent, whatever.

I would rank Paul a 93-95, but he missed a lot of games last season. Williams isn't at his level, sorry. Paul will be the best PG in the NBA until he retires.

Carmelo is so damn overrated.
He's not a 90 at all. His defense is overrated too.

I still like Williams better than Paul for the long haul. Its been proven time and time again that shorter guards who rely on quickness tend to fade a lot faster over time. I like Deron's defense and strength to give him a more all round game. I think his shooting is a lot better as well. Paul was definitely a better player before, but I'm not sure how long that will last with injuries and age.

The system in which Paul runs also tends to inflate his numbers. Just look at Collison's numbers when he replaced him after injuries. I'm not saying its all in the system as Paul is amazingly talented, but I don't know if I'd pick him first among PGs anymore.

I totally agree on Melo being overrated, though if he posted up a lot more he'd be unstoppable. I absolutely hate how the Nuggets run their offense.

Good shit it is good to see that I am not the only one who changes ratings and shit. You should post your roster on 2kshare when it comes out.

Forget all that PER stuff. DW led his team to more wins even when CP was healthy. They are both great talented guards but I don't see how PER gets CP 3 notches higher. That stat is full of fluff. I don't care what PER rank DW had in the past, he's no less of a talent than CP is. Research is actually watching games and knowing a players talent level outside of all these silly efficiency concoctions.

Iverson probably had a low PER rating but you couldn't dare question his ability to carry a team.

Melo isn't overrated. Check what DEN looked like before he got there and then after. Nuff said.

I use to say Elton Brand was overrated because even with his numbers and decent teammates he could never make them better.

Since when Paul relies on quickness? He's Leandro Barbosa now? I honestly think you mistaken Paul for someone else. Paul doesn't even play at full speed. His game is based on his court vision, footwork, and technique as a PG, which he has mastered fully at the young age of 24. Paul is much more than a fast young guard, his speed and quickness is natural. His skills is what makes his game. Just because he's much faster than Williams doesn't mean thats the only aspect of his game. Don't get that confused.

Other guys aren't Chris Paul. Chris Paul is a special talent and we haven't seen a PG of his caliber since Isiah Thomas. That point just makes no sense. Not every player is the same.

Paul is a great defender too...better player before? Deron Williams was never better than Chris Paul, not in High School, not in College, not in the NBA, not even FIBA where Williams was backing up Paul.

Shooting? They both are equal in terms of shooting. Do your research. here:

nba.com or basketball-reference.com ... how the f*ck is Deron an "ALOT" better shooter than Paul? Paul isn't Rondo.

I don't know why people stretch their arguments out so much that everything becomes nonfactual and completely bias. Just post the facts and accept the reality of the situation. Only an imbecile would think Deron is an ALOT better shooter than Chris Paul. They both shoot at an identical rate.

Inflate numbers?
You just contradicted your entire agrument.
Utah run a HIGH TEMPO OFFENSE, and finished top 5-10 every season in field goal attempts.

Where does New Orleans finish? 10-15 or sometimes even 15-20

Paul has produced numbers every he's gone...his numbers are purely based on his ability, skill, and overall maturity at the PG position. You taking away credit from him makes you a fool. Sorry man, its just lame to take away credit from an athlete for your lame argument.

Collison is a good PG too...he's not suppose to average those numbers?

lol at the ratings. complete disagree. lol at the title of this thread. so egoistic

You're gay, you know this right? JJ Redick is your favorite player...so I overrated his rating so you wouldnt cry, and look, you still crying like a little bitch.

Nah. Don't forget that PER stuff. I don't know what stuff and fluff is. The topic is basketball, and you're not using a lot of words that are telling me why Paul shouldn't be rated where he's at. Stats are facts. My arguments not only include stats, but explanations on why I'm using them. I rather use the facts than come into a thread looking like a bias oblivious dickhead.

You're not an NBA scout, you're not certified to evaluate talent...so stop trying to act like on an NBA scout watching every NBA game sitting on your fat ass munching on a bag of doritos.

Iverson has a great defensive team.
Carmelo has a great team. Its not just him.

Right on bro..

I agree w pretty much all of your assessments and am impressed w the deligence that goes into creating custom player ratings for an entire league.

I used to do it religiously back in the good ole' NBA Live days. Nowadays I don't play video games as I'm a married, working stiff. It's sad. :boohoo:

I truely feel being able to rate individually the various facets of a player's game well makes you that much more able to discern the attributes and deficits a player brings to the table as you watch them on the court in a real game. Conversely to even be able to rate those characteristics you have to watch alot b-ball and get a real good feel for what a player is showing you in their game. Doing this repetitiously sort of primes you to be able to quickly zero in on what players do & do not do well.

I take pride in my assessments of players to this day and I think we share alot of common ground in this area. Cool thread!

Just saying Bandon Roy is a 86 and Mello is an 84. You cant tell me Roy is better then Mello. Mello has an ability to ceate his own Shot at any angle and thats something only 2 other guys in the NBA have (Kobe, Wade).

In my book, Mello is an 88. quite possibliy 90. Esspecialy if Bosh, Gasol, and Brandon Roy are 86 ad STAT is an 85. 84 is just ridiculous for a top 5 NBA player.

Forget all that PER stuff. DW led his team to more wins even when CP was healthy. They are both great talented guards but I don't see how PER gets CP 3 notches higher. That stat is full of fluff. I don't care what PER rank DW had in the past, he's no less of a talent than CP is. I'm sorry but if you say you'd rather have D. Will over Paul, over the long haul the short haul, or the U-haul for that matter, I just have to question your ability to judge talent. Period.

Paul is the best PG since Magic and Isiah. He's up there w those guys believe me.

You obviously haven't watched enough of him or looked at the numbers he can put up cause you are shamefully misinformed sir.

That's if you are stuck on the feeble and ridiculoid notion that Melo is a top 5 player, which he definitely is not.

To put it bluntly Roy is simply better both ways than Melo. Melo may be more dominate offensively, but Roy is close to him in this area and better defensively. So I can see why one would rate Roy higher than Melo overall.

And just as an aside, Roy's ball skills totally son Melo's and most PG's in the league for that matter. That boy is bad w the pill..
