Default Rautins, Fields + Ewing: Remaining Roster Spot

Rookies Landry Fields and Andy Rautins, selected back-to-back in the second round last June at Nos. 38 and 39, have become very tight, hanging together like glue during the Milan-Paris trip.
Unfortunately, they may also be fighting for the Knicks' last rotation spot.
If that's the case, it was won last night by Fields, who nailed a line-drive 20-footer to tie the score at 90 with 26 seconds left. That set up Toney Douglas to win it with two free throws after he got fouled off a pretty backdoor pass from Ronny Turiaf, as the Knicks downed the Wizards 92-90 at the Garden.

Fields, wearing No. 6 -- the number some Knicks fans thought would be worn by LeBron James -- finished the night 3 of 3 for seven points with four rebounds in 19 minutes. He's Mr. Hustle and is looking like the smartest pick of the second round, even if he's still not a polished jump-shooter.
"Landry just comes in and does everything good," Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni said. "Defensively, he runs the floor, rebounds and I'll think he'll get more confidence in his shot. He's athletic and smart."
Meanwhile, Rautins had an awful night, playing the entire fourth quarter and probably blowing his chance. The former Syracuse star was a step slow, missed all three of his 3-pointers, didn't score and had two turnovers.

Russian rookie center Timofey Mozgov started again at center and it's very possible he nailed down the job. Wilson Chandler moved to shooting guard with Amar'e Stoudemire 's return. Mozgov played efficient with 12 points (5 of 8) with four boards and a block. Last night's lineup of Mozgov-Stoudemire-Danilo Gallinari -Chandler-Raymond Felton is a good bet to open the season. . . . The final roster spot will come down to wings Patrick Ewing Jr. or Shawne Williams , a former Pacers' first-round pick. One thing in Ewing's favor is he has a partial guarantee - about $140,000, according to a source. He's also a better defender than Williams, who has outplayed Ewing offensively but isn't the son of a Knicks legend. . . . Struggling Anthony Randolph , who could lose a rotation spot if D'Antoni gives more minutes to Chandler at power forward, was just 3 of 10 with two turnovers, but had six boards.

I think Andy will be fine, by fine I don't mean a starter but a very smart savy BB player with a lot of heart and hustle. Saying this I believe that Mr. Routins will be in the NBA as a carear backup SG/PG. His shot is pure and it will come around as soon as he gets used to the speed of the game imo.

His Iq makes him have a future and his willingness to not be scared to shoot but he needs to be consistent and be more creative as a point man because he is a good passer with good court vision, he needs to use that more....

In a couple years he will be pretty good, like current J J Redick
