Game 1: NYK@TOR 10/27 7:00

That game was too close for comfort. We were suppose to smash them guys. Hopefully the knicks will pick up their game, soon. Chandler was the man (as predicted) and Gallo is still camping tossing them bricks up (as predicted). He was taking the whole team out of their rythem at one point with his poor shooting and fouling. I think he fits well with a team like Utah, not NY. Thanks Chandler for proving me right and getting us the win...we were suppose to get. Thank god fields didn't hurt himself from that body slam...

My only argument to this assertion is that finding a way to win a game in the 4th has plagued this team for 3 years now, that closing a game and getting the win, and finding a way to win on the road, especially against an inferior team, is something we struggled with.

In this sense, just getting the victory.... no matter how.... is important.

It sends a clear message that times have changed. We have leadership, we have a go-to option. This should relax us and give us comfort now.

You can argue 11 wins/loses ride on these types of games during the course of a season. We're usually like -11. Now we are +1.

And the fact we got t his win despite STAT having an ordinary game.... MORE GOOD NEWS>

Knicker Blockers!!

oh what a great start to a new season, and new knick squad.

very happy Mrs. Fields was in starting lineup, props to Mr. Mustache for making that happen. The Rook has instinct for the game, plays with brains, athleticism and focus. Took a fall and came back strong. Hit some big shots, and showed he deserved to start! Good play all around. A keeper!!

Feltip is fast and will make everyone forget Duhound within a couple weeks. Having Du-loser off the squad is like a weight lifted, Raymundo will only get better as his synchronicity with team (esp. A'ma'r'e) improves.

STAT is STUD. best Knick player on the floor in YEARS!! he is the go-to guy, he is exactly what's been missing. Had some timely blocks and is worth every penny we paid him to BE THE MAN!! i'm sure his TO's will dwindle as his scoring and domination progresses.

As most KO posters have noted, Weedson Chandler deserves start over Gallipini. The Godson is a one-trick-three-point-pony who does not deserve starting minutes, he should be that guy who comes off the bench to hit big shots, not waste floor space hanging out on the perimeter, and NOT hitting.

Weedson Chandler has shown steady improvement each year, and Metrocard needs to take back his assessment of his being over-rated. Chandler is aggressive going to the hoop, and his outside shot has improved tremendously, as has his shot selection. I love Weed, son!

Junior Masonite IS Eddie Brickhouse. Another waste of space, poor shot selection, I'd rather see his minutes go to Shawnee Williams or Rottens.

Tony Douglas rules. I like his game so much, he may be 6th player of the year before too long. He's getting smarter with more minutes and confidence, his shot is getting better, and his defense is KEY. TD!!

Moscow played exactly as we thought, foul-prone... but as soon as he went out, in came Mr. Beard, the Tuffy-af, the defense we never had. His positive attitude and defensive presence alone makes up for DavidLee's non-D. I miss the beast immensely, but having STAT and the beard will make up for his absence.

10 BLOCKS!! 10 BLOCKS!! KNICKER BLOCKERS!! Defense wins games!!

NOTES:
Landry Fields +/- = +6
Ron Turiaf +/- = +7
Gallo +- = -3

PS: really nice thread JPZ17! lotsa cool info. good job!

Who cares who starts? It matter who finishes games. Chandler was on the floor when it mattered most.

Like you said, Gallo starts b/c he wouldn't help the 2nd unit.

We need Wilson right now to come out and give us punch from the bench. The second unit helped build the lead. Now, this might change is Gallo continues to play poorly and Wilson continues to show he's our second best player.

But for now it's cool.

Makes a BIG difference who starts and let me tell you why: FAVORITISM. How are you going to convice our young nucleaus to WORK if the coach is only gonna give his faves starter minutes??? Like COOL CLYDE said above, let Gallo come off the BENCH(where I have been saying he belonged from the beginning) and heave up those bricks. Wilson deserves to start point blank.

I hate to say this, b/c even as I'm about to type it I know it'll never be (or come to fruition)... But after having witnessed (with my own 2 eyes) Brian Zubek leading Duke to a title.... All I can say is you never know... and as long as there's still time there's still hope...

THE KNICKS REALLY DO NEED, COULD USE, WHATEVER, THE SERVICES OF E-CURRY.

They've assigned Anthony Mason to work him out and motivate him, the dudue is out of cash, and his career hangs in the balance (as this is his walk year).

Imagine having that 300 pounder on the block... the same one that averaged about 18 ppg.

I don't expect this to happen.... But who knows.

Even if it does happen, I don't anticipate Curry having any impact of significance until after Jan.

BUt what if Curry works himself back into some sort of shape by end of November? Starts getting in game shape, and proving something to MD thru December. Watches his minutes grow thru Jan.... Where he's starting come Feb, and scoring 15 ppg by March?

If the Knicks get the 8th seed.... Image having MIA contend with Amar'e & Stat down low... Bosh would be eaten alive.

Anyway, I'll stop dreaming now. BUt I did watch Zubek come from nowhere after 3.5 years of doing nothing to lead Duke to a title. Maybe Curry has a final chapter in him?

+1 agreed. Still the only true center on the team worth a damn(if he could get on the court). After watching Boston throw both O'neals and Big Baby at Miami with Perkins set to come back, you can't have enough big bodies on your roster to contend in the East.....

Well. I agree with what you saying in principle.

BUT. Red makes a great point in for us, with our sg and sf situation, Wilson systematically spelling the two slots is really...really...effective.

Also, it let's Gallo have his chance to shine. Ok ok. He's --already-- worn out his welcome with many in that regard. But if you remove him NOW, it could muck him up further.

I hope..and I hope at thus pt it's what D'ant is thinking...they are going to ride it out just like Red mentioned...and in turn give Gallo a last hoorah at manning up.

Its not like he can't. The big thing is he doesn't drive and slash enough, camps out, and when his shot is off he is a 1trick, mediocre pony.

But he can drive and slash. And do both well. It's why he got drafted where he was. It wasn't really being some 3pt specialist big.

Cmon guys. Since before D'ant...even the man who mortgaged our team and future on E-City couldn't get him to man up.

Dude is in a contract yr and may be broke and he still an obese mess. Guy can't even be motivated by good old fashioned greed.

He's Jerome James with more skills.

Right now we have Moz-Turiaf-STAT-AR as bigs. They all go great together and give us a legit stable with tons of room for improvement. Let's not muck it up trotting out a homo beluga whale to further disgrace our team.

If Curry got in playing shape I'd be willing to forgive and forget and jump on with your reasonings. As is, he is just an expiring contract that could give us a silver lining on one of the worst trades/signings in NBA history.

Good win. Chandler was great.

Essentially all we need is Mozgov to learn how to rebound and stay on the floor and for Gallo to remove his head out of his ass. If those happen and everybody else plays consistently like they played last night, we can go very far.

Agreed and if Azzu comes back to the player he was when healthy then that only makes the team much deeper. The key word for this team is consistency.

Is there really an Eddy Curry discussion on this board? Really?

At this point I would rather LOSE with a healthy/ready Curry on the bench than have him be any part of our team. Sorry. He doesn't deserve it, and further our guys who have a fresh slate and earned minutes by coming to off-season practices and such don't deserve this dude back in the trenches with them.

You know... earn your keep! Sacrifice and assimilate like the team... no special treatment for this dude... big body or not.

Again, Gallo for as bad or limited or inconsistent as he is, better serves us to start along w/ Fields until at least Azibuke comes back.

1. They get a chance @ the beginning for a "heat check". Then Wilson spells them depending on their performance or match ups.

2. Remember Harrington.. the off bench scorer was his role. Gallo isn't fit for that, b/c then he would have a reason to chuck.

3. Our system is tiring. We need more closers like Wilson & Amare, not starters. In this system starters are over-rated cause major min's = gassed by the end.

Finally Coach is adapting. Cuddos for that. Gallo's role is perfect b/c the pressure is off. His back up is better @ everything except 3pt shooting and we don't need a 6th man for that unless we're way behind. Wilson is perfect for the 6th man, especially cause he's an egoless team player. Damn I think that means he's a valuable trade chip... o'well.

See this is a contridiction here, Red. You say NO special treatment for Eddy, he must earn his keep. That's fine. But then you say "Godson Gallo" isn't "fit" to come of the BENCH??? Why not??? Because he is "European"???

I like your "heatcheck idea." Bring Gallo off the BENCH and let him take a couple shots. If he hit the first one or two, then leave him in. Gallo can spell 2 or 3 just like Wil can. You saw Wil was checking Bargiani when he came off the bench. Gallo could do that as well. But if Gallo comes in shooting his usual bricks, pull his butt back out and put him back on the BENCH(where he belongs). Against better NBA teams, you cannot have a liability like Gallo on both ends of the floor. Gallo shot his normal brick house last night and got tore up by Gleiza.
