Jared Jeffries Returning? Good for Knicks?

Jared Jeffries nearly negotiated a buyout with the Houston Rockets that could have resulted in the veteran forward returning to the Knicks.

Jeffries would only acknowledge that his goal is to play either for the Rockets or another team but would not confirm the talks of a buyout. However, a source says that Jeffries rejected the buyout because the Rockets' offer was in effect too low.

Jeffries was traded to Houston last February in the Tracy McGrady deal after flourishing under Mike D'Antoni. Jeffries struggled in his two seasons under Isiah Thomas but found a role in D'Antoni's system and didn't want to leave.
The Knicks have the maximum 15 players under contract but could conceivably create a roster spot if Jeffries were to become available.

"I did love playing here," Jeffries said before Sunday night's game. "Who knows, maybe one day I'll be back."

Jeffries did not play Sunday night and has appeared in just three of the Rockets' nine games and has played just 29 minutes.

I have to say I would welcome JJ's return to MSG. Jeffries and Turiaf is just what the doctor ordered. Williams or Mason can go, if you ask me.

Jeffies will help sto PGs; bring effort and give us another body in the paint.

A rotation or Turiaf, Mozgov and Jeffries is a good thing; and playing BOTH at times might even help. IF we're not scoring, might as well go with defense at times to STOP the other team.

Who knows.... maybe if Randolph gets minutes and Curry gets in shape... We might be respectable in the paint?

It probably does make sense.

It'd just such an emblematic, constantly flashing light of our fail if he came back to us.

We need to move away from that draft, from this past off season, and try to numb ourselves to the future drafts looming.

i never want to see Jeffries back on this team, he was the most over rated bum that ever averaged over 28 min a game...

He doesnt even play for teh Rockets and Hill does...that tells you something people!

If JJ came here Mike D would start him again while he averages 4 points and 3 rebounds in 35 min a game, Mozgov and Turiaf are a million times better

Yeah and I'd like to be the Knicks PG making max money but that ain't happening either.

I can see why he wants to come back though, we're probably one of the few teams he could get playing time on because of the scrubs we have.

Walsh just went all-in to dump Jeffries so he'd have a better shot at landing Lebron + 1. It didn't have anything to do with whether he thought he was a desirable player or not. Though I guess Walsh, like Isiah, has a hard on for giraffe porn.

Dumping Jeffries was an understandable move.

Walsh punted the actual deal, though; and the moves (or lack of moves) preceding and following it. Including our present ability to swiftly get Melo by way of picks, without having to risk bending MSG over again and getting ****ed, or waiting out season and Jay-Z and The Russian making it happen while we worry about our guard rotation for D'ant.

Taking Jeffries back would be a *huge* slap in the face.

no he'd play because Mike D is the dumbest coach in the NBA and JJ knows it

If we didn't have Turiaf it might be worthwhile. I'd rather see PEJ brought in as a defensive role player than JJ back though.

Was thinking the same thing while reading this. We need more hustle players like Turiaf.

Don't know why we have a plethora of "snipers" on this team (who actually can't shoot) and some guy name Williams, but a hustle, high-energy player like PEJ who plays defense gets cut? Odd.

As for Jeffries.... KEEP HIM AWAY. Geez, maybe we'll be talking about cutting into E-Curry's playing time. LOL!
