The Milwaukee Bucks have acquired nine-time All-Star Gary Payton and forward Desmond Mason from the Seattle SuperSonics in exchange for guards Ray Allen, Kevin Ollie, Ronald Murray and a conditional 2003 draft pick, General Manager Ernie Grunfeld announced Thursday.
Payton, who played for George Karl for six-plus seasons in Seattle, is the SuperSonics all-time leader in scoring (18,207), assists (7,384), steals (2,107), games played (999), minutes played (36,858), field goals (7,292) and three-pointers (917). He boasts career averages of 18.2 points, 7.4 assists and 2.1 steals per contest.
