China wants to control reincarnation

China has a long history of being suspicious of religious groups. This dates back to the Taiping Rebellion, when a group of Christians, whose leader claimed to be Jesus' "little brother," proclaimed himself emperor of what he termed "The Kingdom of Heaven" and tried to overthrow the real emperor of China.

Keeping in line with its fear of religious groups' impact on government control, China has tried, as explained in this article, to suppress Buddhism. Another group known to be heavily suppressed in China is Falun Gong, whose leader is in exile in NJ. They are often seen in downtown NYC, sitting in cages, drenched with fake blood, trying to draw attention to their persecution.

So... this is not part of end-times prophecy. It's something China has been doing for a long time. Feel free to look up any of the historical events, groups, etc., to verify for yourself that this is a motif in modern Chinese history.
