Two thoughts on what Isiah is trying to accomplish....

1. When all is said and done, hopefully we acquire Crawford, Junkyard Dog, and Dampier for Frank Williams, Kurt Thomas and garbage. This would give us a killer 3 guard combo with two offensive minded SF's in Thomas and Penny aloung with a frontcourt that is going to rebound the hell out of the ball. Sweetney, Dampier, Nazr, JYD, and Baker's main responcibility will be to rebound while Marbury, Housten, Crawford heave up shots.

2. Instead of the conventional "clear cap space for the big free agent" strategy, it looks like Isiah is going a different route to build this team... expiring contracts. Expiring contracts are the new crack in the NBA, GM's are addicted to them. This year it's Harrington, Mutumbo and Trybanski. Next year it'll be Timmy, Penny and Moochie (unless he`s in the Crawford deal now). Hopefully Isiah can keep incrementally improving the team by trading these expiring deals for young, up and coming restrcited free agents.
