Devin Harris, Derrick Favors, Troy Murphy, Ben Uzoh and four first-round draft picks to Denver.

We can't compete with that offer. If NJ does this deal, they're stupid. Melo's not worth that much. If Melo agrees to the deal, he's stupid. That team would be awful. This would mean Melo is just about the money. So forget him. Let's go after someone who wants to win in NY.

Denver wants Mozgov, Fields, Gallo, Chandler and Felton for Billups and Melo. I'm sorry, Melo's not worth it. We can do better.

With the tentative deal the Nuggs and Nets have, I can't see why Melo would want to go there.

They are going to give up their potential all-star rookie, their once all-star point guard, all of their power forwards, and four draft picks (essentially sacrificing their future), for one player.

ALL OF THIS, with the uncertainty of what the CBA is going to do the cap. They will max out their payroll between resigning Lopez and Melo and have no signficant pieces around them. If the CBA goes hard cap (which i can't see happening; but, it is a possiblity) they may not be able to put any players around him. And no offense, if I'm an elite player, I'm not going to take less money and head NJ to play with Lopez and Melo.

It's just stupid for Melo to go to NJ.

Melo is what -- 28/29 years old? It will take the Nets at least a couple years to build up some pieces around him, and he starting to head out of his prime.

If I were Melo, I would rather resign with Denver than go to the Nets. Right now, the Knicks are still his best option.

If I were Melo I'd force a trade with the Knicks because it's the only chance I have to win a championship.

With LeBron/Wade/Bosh in Miami, Rondo/Pierce/Allen/Garnett in Boston, and Rose/Boozer/Noah in Chicago, Carmelo has to be smart enough to know that the Nets deal would be nowhere near conducive to his future.

If he goes to the Nets he's part of the worst team in the NBA probably.

    Melo is 26.

We don't have to compete with The Jersey Boys, really. Their "superior" offer means next to ****. It always has.

These are humans, not machines...so sure, maybe Melo acts like a real punk and bails out to secure a few extra million (maybe), by going to those losers and losing respect of everyone.

    I still don't see it.

Still stand by my long standing prediction: Chandler, AR/1st, Walker, Felton-Billups swap, Curry. At the very worst, we sweeten it with Moz.

*felon-billups swap is new news, but it's a basic quid pro quo. I've always disliked Chauncass, tho...

wait a sec...wouldnt the SMART move for melo, if he really wants to come to the knicks, would be to absolutely force a quick deal with the knicks at the last second? that way the knicks could get away with a very lowball offer and carmelo will have more pieces around him?

Yea, for a year. Right up until when we have to let Felton go and renounce Gallo to sign CP3 or D-Will, or Dwight.

The reason why they even turned to the Nets is because the only way we could do that is if he told them straight up im not staying even if you keep me. Then if he does that he's at risk for not having a contract because of the pending lockout. No one knows how long its going to last so thats the problem.

this is worse than the decision by lebron

truthfully if you look at it realistically, carmelo has allowed this to be a prime time decision show every day of the seasons since training camp. Personally I find it ridiculous, pre madonna idiot.

Doesn't change the situation. If we're looking to get CP3 OR, D-Will, OR, Howard, then we have to lose Gallo AND Felton.

So if they're gone eventually anyway...I don't see how it's "gutting" the team to trade them for Melo. Unless we see a situation where we can trade them for picks straight up.

See this is what I don't understand. Who is it that keeps us informed? The media. Who has all the sources? The media. It's always the players who get the blame for everything yet sumtimes it's not even their doing our fault. Every media outlet jus knew lebron wanted to be a knick when there really never was anything there.

Another thing, we as fans look at these players like robots or something because all we see is money and say well be happy mutha****a because if you complain about something your a crybaby an you don't deserve to cry cause you have fame and money. We sometimes forget the human element of things.

Carmelo Anthony told the media that there is no meeting scheduled with the Nets to his knowledge.
There is "no meeting at all,'' Anthony said, adding that talk of a meeting with New Jersey's ownership on friday was "news to me."
Anthony also seemed unsure of what the purpose would be of meeting with Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov, or what his approach would be to such a discussion.
"If I was to meet with that guy to be honest I really don't know what I would say," Anthony said.

Sort of an addendum to someone's previous post. Direct quotes though from Melo. We shall see......
