Welcome to the MSGKnickz33 Pregame show, Im your host Jazzy Jeff and were here to take a look at Saturday nights matchup. The Warriors have the 7th best record in the Western Conference having won 7 of their last 10 games. The Knicks have managed to win 5 of their last 7 games. The Explosive offense of the Warriors might be to much for the Knicks to handle so we'll have to wait and find out to see what the Knicks can do to slow down the Warriors.

MSG33 PresEnTs the KeY MatChuP: Baron Davis vs Jamal Crawford
For the Knicks to be successful Jamal Crawford is a key player. He has the ability to score at will when his shot is on. Earlier this month Jamal was doing an excellent job of shooting more efficiently. His shooting percentes were all on the rise until recently.
Jamal Crawford Last 5 Games:
23.2ppg
5.8apg
44fg%
35% 3P
2.2topg
Over the last 3 games his fg% is an ugly 38%. This is why fans need to realize that they cant be so quick to jump on the Crawford bandwagon even after his impressive start this month. His defense is almost always non-existent and you dont know what to expect from him offensively.
Baron Davis has put up some impressive numbers that would be welcomed on the Knicks. Lets take a look at the damage hes done over the last 5 games:
24.6ppg
46.6fg%
39% 3P
6rpg
7apg
3.6spg
These are higher percentages then Baron has been shooting on the season, hes usually not this good. The last 5 teams the Warriors have played have been the Pacers, Bulls, Bucks, Twolves, and Nets. That explains these numbers and the 3.6 steals per game. Hes still a talented player reguardless but for the fans who dont follow other teams hes not this good.
The Official MSG33 Pregame Strategy:
- DEFENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Caps Lock on with extra exclamation marks, the Warriors are the 2nd best team offensively
- Take Advantage!!!! Warriors are the worst team in the league defensivley.
- Look to Double Team!!! Warriors have several players who can make bad defenders look stupid
- Look to Agitate the Warriors!!! They have the 5th largest number of technical fouls with 25, Celtics are 1st with 32
- Celtics(34-7)
- Pistons(31-13)-4.5GB
- Magic(27-18)-9GB
- Wizards(23-18)11GB
- Raptors(24-19)11GB
- Cavs(23-19)-11.5GB
- Hawks(18-21)15GB
- Pacers(19-26)17GB
- Nets(18-25)17GB
- Bulls(17-25)17.5GB
- Bobcats(17-26)18GB
- Bucks(17-27)18.5GB
- 76ers(16-28)19.5GB
- Knicks(14-28)20.5GB
- Heat(9-33)25.5GB
A New Part of the Game Thread, Jazzy Jeff is introducing for the 1st time month by month statistics which will be updated for every game. Lets compare numbers from the first 3 months of the NBA season.
November(5-10):Opponents Points per game=101.5
93.1ppg,43.4rpg,17apg,42.9fg%,32.2%3P,70.2FT%,6.9spg,3.2bpg
December(3-11):Opponents Points per game=102.6
94.6ppg,41.3rpg,16.4apg,42.6fg%,33.1%3P,70.7FT%,6.7spg,1.5bpg
January(6-7):Opponents Points per game=96.5
95.5ppg,39.8rpg,20.8apg,46.3fg%,34.6%3P,73.3FT%,5.2spg,1.8bpg
Lets get back to talkin about the Knicks and Warriors. Although as I showed the last game stats indicate that the Knicks perimeter defense is average this is one occasion where I refuse to believe that. I will continue to post the stats of the best perimeter players on other teams unless theres any objection. With that being said heres a list of the best 3 Point shooters on Golden State:
- Al Harrington-40.7%
- Kelenna Azubuike-39.7%
- Austin Croshere-37.1%
- Mickael Pietrus-36.4%
- Baron Davis-35.1%
- Troy Hudson-33.3%
Theres other players the Knicks will have there hands full with. Stephen Jackson is a versatile sf/sg who can score and defend. Matt Barnes, the former Knick can do some damage offensively. Monta Ellis should have no problem doing whatever he desires against the Knicks. Biedrins is good for a double double. This should be a very tough game but this west coast stretch presents an oppertunity to the Knicks to prove themselves.
One of the most important things with this Knicks team is the lineup rotations and thats been one of the problems all season long. Isiah needs to be less hesitant and pull players out who are not contributing. Balkman needs to get more minutes. He can make a big impact without scoring that many points. His defense is what this team lacks which is indicated by the stats comparing the Knicks month by month posted above.
