We Collectively owe D'antoni an Apology

Time to take start taking off the gloves, and tearing down the dogma that's hit KO, and is being passing around like scientific fact, like a bong loaded with oregano.

This will be for the ultimate good of those who can go back to being level headed, clear thinkers on this issue...before that ship totally ends up sinking into abject foolishness and disgrace. :smoking:

Truthfully, only a KO poster having already drank from the kool-aid, could have the balls to front on hating MDA for,

taking a RAW, UNPROVEN point guard...that NOBODY in the league has EVER legitimately talked about or wanted...who was recently DROPPED and not even held onto a team's D league,

who joined us LATE into the season...of 20 games (lol)....

then STARTS....SHORTLY after aforesaid player joins the team...

and BEASTS....

which, idk, maybe is in rhythm with every actual professional basketball analyst knowing MDA's excellent history with PGs,

and which any current NBA fan should see if they remove their blinders,

Hello, Felton

Hello, borderline all-star to lock-HOF PG Steve Nash.

Personally, I can't get too juiced up about this -- as this doesn't suddenly make MDA legit in any way, it's just one example of another obvious slice of reality that affirms his place as a leading NBA coach and basketball mind.

Which is why the second we signed Lin I predicted having a strong feeling he would be quality, because MDA is so good at coaching up players, especially Point Guards, especially PGs who possess prototypical PG-type skills and are smart and hard working.

Lin is an extension of the same insanity so many of you have applied with:

Mozgov
Jorts
Shumpert

Just to name a few.

Please realize, that outside this bubble that has been created here regarding MDA, were saying foolish -- deeply foolish things -- and having them be treated as scientific fact, unquestioned......you would be laughed at.

The success each of those players has had under MDA, is an unquestionable reflection of MDA's excellence at milking the most out of players.

If *ANY* other team had such players have the results these players have had for us, relative to the players' expectations and NBA outlook....the fans would be shitting them ourselves out of happiness, declaring it a virtual miracle.

Please know, this is (another) clear sign of the blinders so many now have on for MDA.

Your arguments and parroted statements, as I have plainly proven in various ways, are simply put: deeply flawed, in critical, proven ways.

In theory, even if MDA was "a horrible coach" -- which any objective mind would bet against, simply by looking at how flawed the arguments of the people against him fundamentally are: 99% of you would have still been saying deeply incorrect things, in coming to your conclusion.

The fact you also said he was a bad coach wouldn't reflect you actually being astute or correct, but simply lucky and on the right side of randomness and whim.

But MDA isn't "a horrible coach". And I have the pleasure of knowing this by being an objective mind and a clear-headed student of the NBA and sports.

I was going to bed and then I saw this and couldnt let it go. Does MDA have your family captive or something? This drivel is neither objective or factual. Here are some facts for you.

1) MDA has lead a team with two perennial allstars and arguably a top 3 center in the league to a abysmal 10-15 record. Not Good.

2) MDA the offensive genius has a team that has scored 100 pts in 8 games out of 25, 5 times in wins and 3 against the Bobcats and Pistons. Not good.

3) My fav- MDA has turned a 6 10 275 pd rookie into a 3 pt specialist. This player when interviewed said he'd love to do the dirty work. Rebound, play physical, etc etc. Not Good.

4) MDA has not adjusted to his roster. Which is why we're 10-15. A tweak here and adjustment there and the record could be reversed. Not Good.

5) MDA does not use what's arguably the best front court in the NBA for post play. Not Good.

6) MDA plays his players too many minutes, which leads to injuries and poor play. Not Good.

7) MDA has not and I repeat HAS NOT WON A THING IN THE NBA. At the rate he's going he never will.

8) MDA is trying to reinvent the wheel. His roster is full of bigs and he plays outside. Any coach in his right mind would pound the paint for easy baskets with this front line and take an occasional three. Its what basketball is and always will be. Most 7th graders know that height matters in this game.

I could go on and on, but I'm getting tired now. Chew on all these facts and get back to us.

Jeremy has been amazing and knows how to run the pick and roll. D'Antoni played him 45 minutes tonight. Got the win, but if he rides this kid like this, he'll break him down.

Not fair to Jeremy.

This has been two games -- Let's not forget they lost 8 out of 9 because of the same coach. Still believe we need a new coach to bring out the true potential of this team.
Dantoni asked him to come out but he wanted to stay in.

If Lin came out without amare, without melo and chandler in foul trouble we would have lost the game.

No apology. MDA sent Lin to the D-league two weeks ago!!!! Without even giving him a chance!!

Now he wants to ride the Lin-wagon just like he rode the Nash one.

Let's hope Lin can keep it up.

I love his personality too. Clearly very intelligent and a team focused player. He even got Jeffries shots that he could score.

I'm telling you: Hell has frozen over.

This is why none of you are NBA coaches. How many NBA coaches would play an unproved D leaguer who has bounced around team from team being cut. Lets be real here. While D'antoni was getting desperate and put Lin in as a what the hell last hope, it clearly shows that when Dantoni has a PG his offense looks beautiful. How can you hater deny that? I am not even a Dantoni stan, but these young knicks are playing D and scoring within this system. If we can keep this same defensive intensity up, while buying into Dantonis system, I do believe we can turn our season around with THIS COACH!.

We don't owe him shit!!!

He wanted this job and is getting paid millions to do it. He deserves the pressure he's getting from the losses we had, because just like none of us choose the cards that we are dealt and still have to win in life, he didn't choose this roster and still has to make it work or move to Toronto.

Wins, thats all that matters!!! After four years of taking the money, I don't give a shit what he has done if we are not winning!!!

Hate Dantonio for not playing LIN
Now Hate Dantonio for not playing LIN when u thought he shoud have....
Lin lit up WALL in the summer league last year....why did no NBA team or Coach give him a shot ????

YES DANTONIO is suprised as anyone with LINS immediate success...I am sure the rest of the NBA cannot beleive it.....

I cannot believe that anybody could say we owe D`Antoni an apology. We win two games and suddenly we owe him.

We have won two games, lets not forget, largely because a young player that our coach has benched and sent to the D-league has suddenly come off the bench and performed heroics.

There are simply too many reasons why D`Antoni is a terrible coach and needs to be sacked for me to even list here otherwise I`ll still be typing when the sun burns itself out.

D`Antoni supporters are still out there which amazes me. Two wins after the crap we have had to suffer and suddenly the coach is a goodun`.

I`d apologize to my shoes for dirtying them when I kick D`Antoni`s arse but certainly not to him for kicking him.

This thread is a mightily epic fail.

LOL the guy on the other thread saying Knicks fans are bipolar are right. 2 games is all it takes for you to apologize. So after your girl cheats on you, after 2 dome sessions you are ok with it?

Actually i respect the D'Antoni supporters because at least they have been consistent.

I fell off the D'Antoni bandwagon after last year. To me he's going to have to do a lot more than win 2 games. Get to 500 first to show the fans that the Knicks have are not a flash in the pan. Finish the season as the 4th or 5th seed then he'll get my props. Until then he is a mediocre coach to me.

Lets get this right....if u knew just a little-bit about coaching u wouldve
notice Dantoni have NO set-plays, or individual design plays, or a team-
format of plays to inbound the ball on a proffessional level for his bench
players in Phoenix or New York.
Dantoni depends on "NBA veteran-players" creativity off of broken plays for
his success....and that's just on the offensive end of the court.
The Knicks won their last two games mainly from DEFENSE and strong
rebounding....what do Dantoni know about defense & rebounding???

Oakley....u need to check yourself....by reading other posters.
Sports writers and commentators could lose their pay-check $$$ by
mentioning all of the true-facts about a team....Marv Albert is a Knicks example.

CA7....said it best in his post on Jeremy Lin.....
honestly I dont wanna get my hopes up, let me put it this way
every team has been playing jam packed games, Lin barely plays so he got
his legs and has more energy than opposing players, not saying thats why
he's playing this well but the point is I want a guy who do what he's doing for
7 games vs the Heat, Bulls, Clippers, and Thunder. Lin would be my choice for
back up PG though but I really think we need a true starting PG, give Lin
15minutes a night to what he does and I bet our second unit maintains leads
our 1st unit can give us.

So please lets not get our hopes up lets let things play out

The topic should have said something along the lines of "The hustle and intensity of Lin temporarly gets coach off of the hot seat". Yeah, thats more like it...

apologize? are you serious? It seems like the majority of KO knows more about the talent on the Knicks than the actual coach. So, in that reguard. I'm sorry that I'm starting to feel sorry for this sorry ass coach.

If he ever turns this season around and change up his gameplan a bit to better suit the team...than he might get a little more sympathy.
As of now...the fire under his ass is still lit...:fire:just turned down to a bit.

Nothing I said is not a factual statement.

Jeremy Lin is the most competent pick and roll PG this roster has seen in years. In only 2 games I think it is more than enough to see with out drinking the kool aid that this kid understands how to run the P&R and break down defenses. Someone like Novak does not thrive unless he has a PG to set him up. He shot extremely well because Lin found him. This is Dantoni's system. While the coach has many faults, many of you fail to realize he has a roster not built for his system. Many of you say he needs to adjust, but he was brought here to run his system, it is not his fault that the GM's are giving his square pieces to put in circle holes.

I am by far not a supporter of Dantoni, I say simply we need to soften our stance against him, Lin showing up and playing this well is a surprise to EVERYONE. Warriors, Rockets, all didn't know he had this much talent. I do believe that he has what it takes to be a STARTING PG in this specific type of offense. While its only been two games, I think its safe to say he is our BEST option at PG and not one we are settling for. He has completely bought in to MDA's strategies and has been effective. Utah is not a push over team, yet we made them look like it with pure hustle, defense, and great offense.

Many people are critical of Dantoni because they say his type of ball doesn't win championships. But it wasn't his offense that was the problem, it was that his team never played defense.

The Knicks are 2nd for Steals, ranked well for turn overs and differentials. Issue has always been his defense. We got that part down and now we have a competent PG to run this systems P&R and find open guys.

Just imagine this..All those blown layups by Jeffries would of been put back dunks by amare. Kid would of had 13 assists last night.

I just wish some of you would be sensible and stop and take off the hater shades. Lets give this offense a chance and this kid a chance. NY fans are the most fickle.

We should get excited for this kid. Some of you are almost like wishing he fails so Dantoni fails. Trust me I hate the coach some times do, but I also recognize the gifts of his offense when its run like its been the last 2 games.

Some of you should not only be Knick fans, but a fan of the sport and look at our situation objectively.

Short term losses; long term gains. Maybe we would have loss, maybe we wouldn't have. It is a good coaches job to know better than his players.

But mark my words, MDA will do to Jeremy what he did to Amar'e and half the team last year -- overplay them. This will lead to injuries.

Another reason why he is just a bad coach. Know what Doc Rivers did two years ago when the Celts made the finals -- he stopped playing his vets to give them the rest they needed.

MDA will sacrifice his players. He even said so himself: "I'm going to ride that kid like secretariat."

Which, besides be disturbing, gives insight into this man's thinking. He may have been half joking, but only half.

Wow, how words change as they are passed down.

not defending Mr. Pringles, but what he said (in response to a reporter's question on the minutes Lin played last night) was "I was riding him like Secretariat".. quite different than saying he will burn him going forward.

lets hope we get in a situation where we have to rest our starters....Rivers rested his starters because he could.....when we clinch a playoff spot maybe we can do the same.....seems like melo is resting pretty good on his own.

If Dantonio would have taken LIN out everyone would say he cost us the game....He leaves him in and its still no good.

I agree we owe Dantonio nothing......Based on bad luck we ended up with a unique surprise with LIN.............all the stars needed to be aligned....THAT DOES NOT HAPPEN TO THE KNICKS....so maybe the Giants winning took care of that....

LOVE OR HATE Dantonio who cares,.,,,,,,We are on a road that is so much more positive then this time last week....

WHAT?? Grunwald gave him Lin, which by extension of your metaphor is a stick of dynamite that makes his circle holes fit whatever piece you wanna put in there with him. You can't deny that MDA really tried to not play Lin. Everyone on this board knew when he put TD in against the Celts it was game over for the Knicks. Everyone knew Lin would turn the offense around after having seen him put up numbers playing 5 minutes in each game. Either _'Antoni was too dumb to see that he had a great PG (doubtful, considering 95% of his offense is based off having one) or he didn't want to have the best team out there.

I don't know if I agree that everyone would have said D'Antoni cost us the game. I think people would have said, it was quite obvious the kid needed a rest.

I do agree that the stars aligned with Lin, however. I also agree that D'Antoni didn't need to do much to win that game besides leave Lin in. Like where we are and hope it continues. We will have a few rough games ahead of us, though, without Amar'e and Melo (out 1-2 weeks). We can't sacrifice our players now. Still have a lot of season to go. Unfortunately, I do not trust MDA to ever make a correct judgement, unless given no other option.

As a coach in a tight game against a division Rival its hard to make the call to put in a Rookie under those circumstances and ask him to orchestrate the offense. Tony Douglas is a 3 yr vet with more exp. Its understandable if you look at it from that view point.

While i agreed, it's hard for a coach to trust a rookie in that situation, when he did, it was working, we were up 11, so why would you take out the kid and bring in TD?I didn't understand that, and as the lead evaporated, he did not even look at LIN, the man who helped us build that lead.Every time we have a lead, and he brings in TD, our offense dies, and we lose the lead.He has been doing this for awhile, i don't know what TD has on this guy.
