NEW YORK (AP) - Coming off one of the worst games of his young career, Dwyane Wade studied video, made adjustments and took it to the New York Knicks .

Wade had 30 points, nine assists and five rebounds to help the Miami Heat beat the Knicks 111-100 on Sunday night.

"He's methodical. He really took in the film today," Heat coach Pat Riley said. "He slowed down a little bit tonight. He really took a look at the defense and did a good job."

Wade had 15 points on 1-for-8 shooting Saturday in an 85-84 win over Chicago.

"I tried to bounce back," Wade said. "Every time I have a bad game I just put the effort forward to make plays."

Miami has won five straight and 15 of 16 to improve to 45-21. With Chicago's loss Sunday afternoon, the Heat clinched a playoff spot.

"We still have a lot of games left, but we're happy about that," Wade said.

Wade scored 16 points in the third quarter on a series of acrobatic moves and dunks. He was 5-for-5 from the field in the period, including an alley-oop dunk off a half-court pass from Jason Williams that gave the Heat a 72-63 lead.

Williams had 21 points, nine assists and six rebounds for Miami, which has won its last six games away from home. The Heat are in the midst of four road games in five days. They beat Chicago on Saturday and play Minnesota and Detroit before heading home.

A night after struggling from the field against Chicago, the Heat shot 54 percent (40-for-74) against New York.

"They shoot 55 percent, it's going to be a tough night," Knicks coach Larry Brown said.

Shaquille O'Neal scored 18 points, but was 0-for-6 from the foul line and was limited by foul trouble. His backup, Alonzo Mourning , was a force on the defensive end for Miami, recording eight blocked shots.

"Alonzo had a huge impact on the game defensively," Riley said. "I think he gave us the defensive lift when we needed it."

New York (19-46) saw its two-game winning streak stopped. The Knicks were trying to win three straight games for the first time since winning six in a row from Jan. 2-13.

"We definitely are playing better, but still have lapses," said Eddy Curry , who led the Knicks with 18 points. "We still have a ways to go. As long as we go out with a high effort you never know."

Curry scored 14 of his points in the third quarter with O'Neal on the bench.

"Everytime I got the ball I tried to make something happen," Curry said.

Jamal Crawford added 16 points. Jalen Rose had all 14 of his points in the first half. Jerome James matched his season-high with 13 points.

Miami led 49-46 at the half, but New York opened the third quarter scoring five of the first seven points to tie the game at 51. The Heat then went on an 11-2 run with Williams and Wade scoring all the points to take a 62-53 lead. New York closed within four, but could get no closer as the Miami backcourt proved to be too much.

New York was down by 11 in the first half, but used a 15-8 surge to close within three at halftime.
