The NBA Draft of 2006 took place last night in the city of New York. The Knicks had 2 first round picks, the 20th (from Denver) and the 29th (from San Antonio) and have selected Renaldo Balkman (not to be confused with Rolando Blackman) and Mardy Collins.

Larry Brown was fired by the New York Knicks earlier today, the organization announced. His place will be taken by Isiah Thomas, who is also General manager and president for the team. This move was expected ever since the first rumors appeared in the media starting with May 14th.

New York Knickerbockers President of Basketball Operations Isiah Thomas announced today that guard/forward Ime Udoka [ee-may u-dok-a] has been signed to a contract for the remainder of the season. Udoka, 6-6, 215-pounds, averaged 17.1 points (ninth in league), 6.2 rebounds (16th) and 1.82 steals (third) in 45 games for the regular-season champion Fort Worth Flyers of the NBA Developmental League this season.

Channing Frye suffered a left knee injury in the game against the Toronto Raptors and left the court in the fourth quarter. He stared for veteran Malik Rose - who had his right ankle sprained - and had one of best games. The X-rays were negative but the Knicks announced later that Channing Frye has a sprained ligament in his left knee and he will be in crutches for the next three weeks.

Isiah Thomas - Knicks GM, aquired three time all star Steve Francis from Orlando Magic in a trade that sent Anfernee Hardaway and Trevor Ariza away. Francis is 6-3 and 200, and has averaged for Orlando 16.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 5.7 assists in 46 games this year.
