The New York Knicks and the Denver Nuggets have completed last night, the trade in which Carmelo Anthony joins forces with Amar’e Stoudemire, to form a powerful duo that will rock the Garden.
After many months of waiting, the deal has finally happened but the Knicks lost more than they were expecting in the beginning, when Anthony expressed his desire to play for New York.
Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler, rookie Timofey Mozgov, Anthony Randolph, a first round pick of 2014 and two second round picks of 2012 and 2013 plus $3 million in cash will go to the Denver Nuggets in exchange for Carmelo Anthony, Chauncey Billups, Anthony Carter, Shelden Williams and former Knick, Renaldo Balkman. Minnesota Timberwolves, who were also involved in the blockbuster, will receive from New York, Anthony Randolph, Eddy Curry and another $3 million in cash. The ‘Wolves are sending small forward Corey Brewer to the Garden.
The deal happened after owner James Dolan, advised by former GM and former coach Isiah Thomas, made it possible by including Timofey Mozgov in the deal, a move which current president Donnie Walsh didn’t support.
