Mike Bibby was not even in the conversation. The veteran guard was brought in by the Knicks as insurance at the point guard position when they thought that Toney Douglas would be running the show.
When the Knicks arrived in Detroit Saturday morning, the talk was about the decision to bench Douglas and start rookie Iman Shumpert.
By the end of Saturday night, however, the 33-year-old Bibby was the one getting all the attention. Bibby led the Knicks in a decisive second-quarter run that gave them a 103-80 win over the Pistons at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
The Knicks return to the Garden Monday night to face the Bobcats riding their first winning streak of the season, two games.
