The seminal moment in all of the Jeremy Lin madness started when Mike D’Antoni, desperate for someone to run the team, inserted Lin into the lineup against the Nets on Feb. 4. Lin went off for 25 points and outplayed Nets point guard Deron Williams.
Linsanity has reigned supreme in New York ever since as the Knicks have gone on a tear with Lin at point guard and the Nets (10-24) have gone in the opposite direction.
Williams entered Madison Square Garden -- Lin’s den -- Monday night with an opportunity to quell some of the Lin mania and add some perspective. Williams outdueled Lin this time, scoring 38 points before fouling out with 3:07 to play, as the Nets defeated the Knicks, 100-92. Lin finished with 21 points and nine assists.
