Carmelo Anthony publicly endorsed the Lakers' surprise hiring of Mike D'Antoni to replace fired Mike Brown, and the Knicks' star reiterated Monday that he had a "good relationship" with his ousted former coach.
"I'm happy for him, man," Anthony said following practice in Greenburgh. "Despite all the stuff, the hoopla and the B.S. that was going on about me and Mike, we actually had a good relationship, especially, behind closed doors and in practice.
"We actually talked a lot, talked basketball. So what he's able to bring to the Lakers organization and to that team, hopefully he brings some positive energy over there. Any time guys are losing like that, there's always negativity and a lot of negative energy. Sometimes a change is better, as well."
