Team Wins One For Steph

Stephon Marbury's crushed spirits were lifted just a bit last night, watching with his family as the inspired Knicks dismantled the Jason Kidd-less Nets 100-93 at The Meadowlands.

During the fourth quarter, Marbury e-mailed a message to the fans through a Knicks spokesman, saying his father died after watching what he loved.

"My father left his legacy where he always wanted us to finish playing, at MADISON SQUARE GARDEN," Marbury wrote. "On behalf of my entire family, I especially want to thank the Knicks fans and fans around the world for their outpouring of support, heartfelt prayers and words of encouragement."

A grieving Marbury considered joining the Knicks as of late yesterday afternoon to play last night, but at the last minute deciding against it. Marbury felt if he was not of right mind he would be in danger of getting injured, according to a source. (...)
