With their absent teammate in their thoughts, the Knicks scored an unusual victory at Izod Center last night. But basketball will be pushed aside today when the Knicks attend the funeral of the father of their grief-stricken teammate, Stephon Marbury.
Don Marbury passed away Sunday after the Knicks-Suns game, and Stephon has spent the past few days grieving with his family.
Today the players and coaches will show their support for Marbury, just as they did when Quentin Richardson's brother, Lee Richardson Jr., died trying to fend off robbers in Chicago nearly two years ago to the day, on Dec. 5, 2005.
The Knicks were in Seattle at the time and Richardson immediately left the team and missed all three games on the West Coast trip. Larry Brown was the coach, and after the trip, the Knicks diverted their charter to Chicago to attend the funeral as a team. (...)
