Analyzing our trade possibilities throughout the upcoming 2011-12 season I'm afraid we are not able to make any suitable offer to acquire him. Billups and Fields could possibly be involded in an eventual trade, but if I remember correctly we have no picks we could offer or any other players that could make our bid worth enough to convince the Hornets, which means we have to wait till CP3 reaches his free agency.
Another comprehensible reason we should not go for a trade is stability, we don't know how far this team can go if we filled all the holes on our roster and gave these guys an entire offseason including a training camp and some preseason games.

Chris Paul has zero incentive not to wait .
Unlike Melo he will know what the Max salary will be.
At this point Chris knows if the Knicks are to be a championship team he needs to just come in 2012 and cost the Knicks nothing.
If This does happen and by July1 2012 Chris Paul is a Knicks then Donnie Walsh is King.

I called him yesterday, he said he'd like to join us, but only if Clyde returns to play at the SG spot beside him. He can't stand Landry Fields and said he won't be a Knick as long as Landry is on our roster.

He won't have to bro. We can move some money around and rework Melo's/Stat's contracts like Miami did. Everyone will have to make some sort of sacrifice. It'll show how badly Melo actually wants to win.

I used to want Chris Paul on the Knicks real bad, but right now we would be better off using the salary on building a complete team.
- defensive center
- solid point guard
- good 6th man
- 3 point specialist
^^^I think these type of players would give us a better chance at competing long term (instead of just chris paul)

Getting either CP3 or Dwight Howard to join up with Amare' and Melo will require a black swan event. It is wildly unlikely to happen. We simply do not have the assets and we certainly will not have the cap room. Thinking we are going to get either might be fun, but it is little different from buying a lottery ticket and immediately deciding how we are going to spend our winnings.
