Jason Kapono

I've read today that according to Los Angeles Times Jason Kapono has received an offer to sign with the Lakers for the next 1 or 2 seasons (1.3 million per season) but he asked time to the Lakers because he's expecting an offer from New York.

What do you think about Kapono for the Knicks? IMO he should be a perfect fit for the D'Antoni system. Although Kapono's last two seasons haven't been the best of his career, he is a tremendous shooter and we need desperately a consistent 3PT range menace to open up D's for STAT and Melo. He's cheap and could be a major improvement of Shawne Williams role last season.

BALL DON'T LIE
Being a former 3-pt champion, he is definitely a better shooter than Williams. But Kapono plays at the 2-position. With Landry and Shumpert, Kapono wouldn't get enough playing time. Shawne is a better fit because he plays SF, can play some PF, and is a better defender than Kapono

Read "major improvement on Shawne Williams": sighed, typed, bailed.

I said, Shawne Williams ROLE last year. Obviously Kapono is a worst defender and gets less rebounds. But in order to be an offensive factor from the 3 point line, specially from the corners, in a team not focused on defense...

I would like Kapono on a one year deal, since Mike D NEEDS outside shooters or else his system fails.

Kapono is 6-8 and can hit the outside shot. We dont really need forwards but if we sign Kapono then Shawne Williams can move around and play with him off the bench. So you'd have two good outside shooters just camping outside waiting for the ball.

Kapono would be what Roger Mason failed to be, a consistent three point specialist.
