You said Melo does not affect our win/loss record meaningfully if he plays. We were able to win a bunch of games with him playing and leading us offensively over a stretch. You catch how Melo has missed playing time during this 5 game losing streak while he was playing full minutes during that prior stretch where we were winning games? If we are talking about getting the best odds at a number one overall pick, then yes, Melo playing can 'dramatically' affect us getting the worst overall record. If he doesn't play, we may literally lose our last 29 games. If he does play, we may win a handful more against some of the bad teams. That is what people are talking about when they say Melo playing can affect the outcome of this season. The conclusions you draw and then say they are black and white facts are conspiracy theorist nonsense. You think that Melo thinks that if he sits out the last 29 games that somehow helps him not be included in the memories of this terrible season? Again, that's just silly.
News flash were weren't going to lose EVERY GAME THIS SEASON
When we won those crap 5gms you're all giddy about we were nearly full strength against
Pelicans - No Davis or Holiday
Philadelphia - Interested in losing as much as us, terrible team
Orlando - Another horrible team who recently fired their coach
OKC - No Durant, has struggled all year just got above .500
Lakers - Another trash team, no Kobe
And you want to sound off as Melo being some difference maker? Get real. He played the majority games during the 16-17gm losing streak. Before he sat consecutive games the team was 5-29 with him(he only missed 4gms). Now is the team worse without him? Yes but that's not saying much because how much worse can you be than 5-25. It goes back to what I said originally to start this thread.
He's a joke, playing in the All-Star Game 30min(2nd most of all players at the game) while bricking 3s is a joke, hyping up being a host for the weekend was a joke, conveniently playing in London was a joke, not knowing if he definitively needs surgery or not is a joke, talking about shutting it down when fans pay an average price of $129.38 per ticket is a joke.
If he plays the rest of the season his presence won't factor much at all us maintaining, being one of the worst if not the worst team in the NBA. The only thing that could folly this up are teams selling off assets earlier than expected and throwing games tank style in ridiculous fashion vying for lottery position. But hey he's an Underrated Superstar Digital Athlete who knows he'll always have fans like you who'll stand by him through STICK IT TO YOU and NO WINS.
