Wilson Chandler??

theres a very high chance that Wilson Chandler will be our opening night SF what do you guys think of that? me personally i like it because i thin he could be effective because when he started playing toward the end on this past season he was just that-effective. And with D'Antoni coaching he should make great strides this off-season and throughout the upcoming season so i say let em start and good things will happen

what are your opinions about him starting and about chandlers game overall?

You know after being so gassed by Mard Collin's play at the end of the 06-07 season I really do not want to make much of a rookie playing well when a team has nothing to lose. But, I have always liked Wilson Chandler since his first Summer League game when he was matched up against Yi (or maybe it was Durant) and he looked good on both sides of the ball. And I thought I was just seeing more than was really there because I am a Knick fan, but then Stu Jackson said at the end of Summer League that he thought Wilson had star potential. I would love to see Wilson maximizes his potential a be a steal for us, but I don't want to get too excited just yet. But from what we have seen from him he would do well in D'antoni's system.

yea D'Antoni's system is pretty much going to help him flourish, his game fits that system so well...hes def someone to watch next year in the Most Improved Player race

you also gotta look that the fact he disn't get the same minutes as most of the rookies in last years class, if he did he would def averaged more than the 7.5 he did...which isn't bad considering he averaged 19 a game

he easily could/will be the steal of the 2007 draft class ...he's gonna be an all-star someday

This BEAST is ready to spit FYRE! That bench that has contained him for most of the season will no longer bind him! bind Chandler?? (Chandler: "YOU BIND ME??") he will BREAK FREE and become an un-guardable FORCE!

D'Antoni, do me a flavor and awaken this BEAST!

your so right the only thing that stopped him last season was the bench and when he was off the bench he was one of our most effective players on a consistent level

so with a year of experience and an offensive coach that will likely start him theres no telling how far he could go

good thread. IM interested to see what people think about him startin next year myself. I wanna see him start. Hes still young but hes got potential on both ends of the court. I look forward to watching him next year and seeing him develop. Its not like were going to win a championship so why not start him unless we get a better small forward.

Chandler>Balkman>Q-rich>Jeffries

I would like to see Wilson Chandler start. He's clearly our best small forward. However, something tells me that Mike D'Antoni is going to start Quentin Richardson. I hope I'm wrong, because Richardson played almost as bad as Mardy Collins, this season, but Mike D'Antoni is probably going to try and use Richardson as a 3 point specialist, like he was back in Phoenix.

^^ agreed i think one thing Walsh should do is NOT get a small foward this off-season so when we start next season he's our starter and with no pressure on him to save us and whatnot he'll be very effective and our x-factor he should even start over Q-Rich i think Q will be more valuable to us off the bench and knock down big three's late in the 4th than starting the whole game...Chandler is much younger therefore he has more potential and he'll only reach that potential if he plays

Depending on the Knicks Starting lineup, I can not really say who should be the Knicks starting SF.
What I do know about the Knicks roster before draft night take place is that the Knicks hired and uptempo coach D'Antoni, that is looking for players that mix well in a fast passing transition game inwhich players like Chandler, Balkman, Lee, Nate, and Morris can finish well on a fastbreak.

I seen Knick players Curry, Zach, Malik, Jefferies, Q.Rich, Crawford, and Marbury, TRY to finish a fastbreak and it dont look good.
Coach D'Antoni will start pulling out his hair when he see Zach, Q.Rich, Crawford, and Marbury pull up for a jumper on a fastbreak basket.
Plus Curry, Malik, and Jefferies miss a fastbreak layup or dunk.

What is very important to remember is
Last season 23 win season had SF-Q.Richardson averaging 30 mpg, and SF-Jefferies averaging 18 mpg. Both their performances at the SF position did not add help for the backcourt players or the frontcourt players on either sides of the court. Isnt that the duties of the SF?
In the 06/07 season Marbury & Curry were the Knicks first two option on offense.
In the 07/08 season Crawford & Zach were the Knicks first two options on offense.

yea he did but he had him as his 3 point specialist so if he could do that here in NY and start Chandler that leaves us with a better shot at winning...especially with Q-Rich coming in to knock down 3's at the end of games

yeah man u do have a point there but iam just saying they could start chandler but give q-rich the orpurtunity give him minutes because if he starts playing like he played in the suns well i think he should start

i agree daTPRINCE, seeing chandler do very well at the end of the season showed me that this kid could be very useful in the future and that's why i listed him as un-tradeable for now. anytime i see a young guy perform like he did at the end of the year i have to give him more playing time and being in the knicks situation he should either start or play alot off the bench. unless d'antoni feels that q-rich is gonna come back and play great for him, i could see chandler making a decent impact as a starting SF for this knick team.

i think it was a knee injury it wasn't anything serious i don't know exactly how he got hurt but all i know is he'll be back training camp in sept and i hear he been training or something like that can't find the the link so he should contribute big dividends for us next year

i haven't been this excited about a knick since Houston and Sprewell

i think everyone is hyping up chandler way tooo much.... im not saying he wont pan out but im also not ready to say he will be the next sprewell for the knicks... all you guys that hype him up are doing is setting him up to not live up to standards or take a big fall... its tough enough for him to try to shine on a team with ball hogs and attitudes and in a city with the toughest fans and relentless media (im from brooklyn and i love the city and its people) but its hard to shine in this city and you guys are pumping him up already
i mean for god sakes its gunna be his second year and he didnt play at all last year until there was nothing to play for give it some time before you make a verdict on him

^ you make a good point but he is good and i haven't said he'll be amazing next year either all im saying is give him the starting spot and he'll play good no allstar but he'll be good and get experience with that playing time and sooner rather then later he'll put up big numbers for us in 2009-2010

I see every reason to be excited by his play late season even though it was useless he showed he'll make good with the time he gets and D'Antoni likes him so he got his coaches support

and for me i haven't been this happy with a knick player since Houston and Sprewell...just thinking of his potential and if he reaches it...WOW is all i gotta say

You misunderstand our, or at least my optimism towards the Knicks. When you have a team that has been doing horrible for so long, having guys such as Eddy Curry who shows little to no heart for the game, it's a slap to the face.

You look for some life, a spark, something to keep your hope alive. Wilson hasn't been playing much, yes this is true, but from what he has shown when he was playing looked pretty good. He had fyre in him and he is something to look forward to.

I go by what I observe and I see good things coming from him. Also if he could not handle the pressure he would be playing here, he knows what he has to do and he definitely understands this teams position. His play looks to adapt with this team.
