Reality check: the odds are better that you get a steal in September than that you lose out on a must-have in July.
What the team looks like at the end of August is much less important than what it looks like at the beginning of November.
There are only 9 or 10 players on the current roster likely to still be on the team come November, and a few of those might still be traded. That leaves at least 5 pieces still to be decided, or 1/3 of the roster. Come back in three months, and your evaluations of the off-season will be a whole lot more relevant.
