Amar'e Stoudemire (Knicks): He lost Steve Nash and he gained a potentially hostile crowd. Those are the hazards facing Stoudemire in his new digs. The Nash factor is very real; Stoudemire owes a bunch of his highlights to a point guard who excelled in the pick-and-roll and knew how to deliver the ball. As for the New York atmosphere, it might get gruesome should the Knicks falter and/or their new big man fail to meet the steep expectations. If you recall, Stoudemire was a bit touchy last spring when he was called out in the postseason. Therefore, is he too sensitive to deal with media that's triple the size of what he saw in Phoenix, and twice as skeptical?

I didn't even read that piece of shit article from NBA.com. I just seen Amare's pic a knew it was gonna be some bullshit about losing Steve Nash like Amare didn't help Nashes game either.

Funny. The same was said about Pippen when Jordan left the first time (after his father's passing). He did pretty damn well.

If anything Amare will have better numbers....Felton is faster and better defensively than Nash x100000.....Of course Nash's court vision is better but we have more shooters than the Suns has last season, making Amare more open down low.

Amare was at his best when Mike D coached him, thus he should be just as good if not better that he is older, more experienced and mature.

Great assesment, I believe much the same.

:agreed: loll. Amar'e isnt the most dominate force in the game all because of Nash. and the same could be said for nash who now has Frye and Warrick to try and do what Amar'e made look naturally easy. STAT will stick it to his haters this year.

he chose to come to NY not only for the cash as many believe but i also think he chose NY because it helps his:

1. marketability- getting him more recognition and endorsement

and 2. i feel he came here cause he wants to show he could carry a team he has the leadership qualities needed and he could lead a team and thats what he's going to prove and also he knew there were people saying that Nash made him who he was, so maybe in turn he chose to leave cause he wanted to prove to those haters that he can indeed do it without Nash if not do better without thus building his own legacy

New York is New York!
Dont anyone try to delude the fact we are not harder on our sports players
than any other sports team fans.
We will full a stadium to standing room to yell boos throughout the
game at certain players.
And our big New York media will circumcize an already circumcized player.

We seen this on the Giants/Jets/Yankees/Mets/and Knicks
this is why Patrick Ewing had nothing to say to the press other than
promising a Championship.

I too, mention throughout all of lastseason that I dont want Amare unless
Nash came with him. I had rather kept David Lee who was consistent no
matter the PG, and the big shadow of negative media cover.

The speculation will be 50-50 throughout the first game to the 65th game of the season.

poor article

Wow, Elton Brand made the list. Hasn't he fallen far enough. He's on a poor team that doesn't even want him. And Mo Williams will have a fall off. You think so with LeBron gone. Tell us something meaningful Mr. Powell.

The stock opinion is that Amare will drop off without Nash (see Kiyaman). I think the opposite. Amare will step up in all facets. He is just entering his prime. He has a great coach who knows how to utilize his skills and he has a good (tho not Nash) point guard and plenty of shooters around him.

Also factor in that the Knicks need 1 superstar before they can attract any others which makes Amare even more valuable to the Knicks than the actual #s he puts up. (Remember the Knicks would have used Joe Johnson as their one superstar and Amare is way better than Johnson. (Btw, Mr. Powell, Joe Johnson should have been on your list)).

I also feel most Knick fans view Amare this way and will be very supportive of him. He will get a great reception at the Garden from the knowledgeable New York fans.

GO KNICKS!

+1 Agreed. The ignorance right now on the board is astounding. Did no one watch our games when Hubie was breaking down the appropriate angle and pace of feeding the post??? In an Eastern conference loaded with bigs, Amare is just gonna come in and wreck shop without his HOF pg feeding him??? What a pipe dream.

Seriously the way they try to downplay us sometimes is down right disgusting!!!!!

Steve Nash and Amare ran a great two man game, but that is not to say that it can't be done by another PG!

Why Did David Lee not make the list because he won't have Duhon running the pick and roll with him?

And lets talk Duhon for a second.....if he (a career backup player) could come in and learn the pick and roll why wouldn't Felton be able to.

The Pick and Roll is like the play action pass to QB's, most halfway decent ones can run it.

Steve Nash is no doubt a Hall of Fame PG, his court vision and basketball IQ is off the charts.....but he didnt not run an exclusive version of the pick and roll with Amare that only those two knew how to!

It was effective for two reasons; 1. Nash's ability to pass the ball and 2. Amare's ability to finish. They needed each other

Thus all that is needed for Nash to be successful running it sans Amare is a good finisher around the rim. they got that in Warrick

And all Amare needs is a good passer. we got that in Felton

So while Felton is no Nash, Warrick is no Amare, yet the two players (Nash and Amare) should do well working the Play with their new Pick and Roll partners

Amare will be asked to do more this season than he has ever been asked so that does present a new challenge and yes there is added pressure playing in NY the year after we struck out in getting Lebron....but Amare's game is not going to decrease (without an injury in which case we are screwed!) just because Nash isnt passing him the ball.

This article is further proof that the media hates The Knicks.

David Lee didn't make the list obviously because duhon is no Steve Nash. David Lee put in work on a bad team, so imagine what he can do on a decent one. Felton was the 23rd ranked pg in the league and you say Amare will be just as effective??? Thats like saying Jerry Rice would have been just as effective with Steve Deberg as opposed to Joe Montana. Thats not the media being biased. Its just the cold hard facts.

I just find it shocking everyone is so quick to ignore how good STAT was without Nash in his career.

This.

And it's fascinating to me how no one ever says "Nash will miss Amare". It's always the other way around. Amare is the only player in the history of the league who gets virtually no credit for the numbers he put up in his own right. I mean, ignorant members of the media, listen up: The guy leads the league in points in the paint over the last 5 years. He's a great player and there just isn't any way around this verity.

LOL I know right!

In only Amare's 2nd year he averaged 20.6ppg and 9.1rbs WITHOUT NASH.

Once Nash arrived in the 04-05 season, Amare's average went up about an average of 4 points during the next 6 seasons. (not including the injury year)

Is that enough proof for you doubters????????

i thought this was a dead thread....david lee played on a team where absolutely no rebounders were present. Lets see how he does with GS's rebounders. Lee will never be as good a player as amare. Lee will be a broke troy murphy at best.
Amare might develop a better post game without a pg feedin him
