36. Wilson Chandler

I love watching Wilson Chandler play because he can do just about everything on the court.
Standing only 6’8”, Wilson has guarded slower big men like Kevin Garnett and athletic perimeter players like LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.
He’s always been a phenomenal and versatile defender, but this season his offensive game has evolved as well. Chandler is averaging career highs in scoring (17.1), rebounds (6.3), blocks (1.6), three-point shooting (36.6 percent) and free-throw shooting (82.1 percent).
All this while cutting down on his turnovers and helping his upstart Knicks team to a surprising 16-12 record.

First Trimester Grade: A-

19. Ray Felton

Most people will point to Amare Stoudemire as the reason for the Knicks' newfound success, but a lot of the credit should go to Felton.
Perhaps the perfect fit for Mike D’Antoni’s fast-paced offense, Felton has reached career highs in nearly every category with 18.4 points and 9 assists per game.
Never known as a three-point threat, Felton is hitting 1.8 three-balls per game at a 36.7 percent clip.

First Trimester Grade: A-

3. Amare Stoudemire

While many would vouch for Amare as the league’s MVP thus far, I simply can’t agree to that. As tremendous as Amare has been on the offensive side of the ball (26.5 points per game), there are many factors working against the athletic big man.
Amare is averaging a career high 4.0 turnovers and has seen his scoring rise in large part due to his furious shooting (19 attempts per game). Stoudemire’s blocks are up significantly (1.0 last season to 2.1 this season), but that does not tell the whole story.
Amare is a big-play defender who always plays for the block or steal. He even admitted earlier this season that he had never learned to play D (not that it matters while playing for Mike D’Antoni).
Still, the Knicks marked improvement is due in large part to their $100 million acquisition. Just don’t expect them to do any damage in the playoffs.

First Trimester Grade: A/A+

I personally would like to see Fields on this list but it is nice to see us getting love again. :gony:

Indeed Wil the Thrill is a big part of our success.

Also...it's the top 50. If it were a top 75 list then Fields and Gallo would probably be in there too, but hey you can't have EVERYTHING

I agreed with everything in the article except for this...

Just don’t expect them to do any damage in the playoffs.
Really? If the Knicks play Chicago or Orlando in a playoff series, they wouldn't be able to beat them?

So far this season, the Knicks have proven that they could play against almost anybody. They might not be a championship team now but the writer of the article is evidently underestimating what the Knicks are capable of doing and it seems like he is putting them in the same class as the Bucks, Sixers and Pacers.

Wilson Chandler is not better than Melo, neither is Felton.

But they are playing very well.

Playing better than Melo, which makes them better.
God you're stupid.

no matter how you spin those ignorant comments you're not gonna be able to make it make sense. In another thread you said Melo would be our 4th best player.

you said some dumb shit and now you're gonna have to back away from it. i see your starting that process now. you should just admit when your wrong dummy.

This is what you said:

"You going to hell for this post.

Melo would be the fourth best overall player on this team.

You fail".

You probably have never been more wrong.

although melo does have a high ass ppg, hes really a one dimensional player, all he does is score and snatch rebounds, when if you hawk the boards its easy. melo's defence isn't as good, passing isn't as good, and he demands the ball way too much. assuming that melo avgs 26ppg(too lazy to look it up), compare that to felton 18 ppg 9 ast, thats at least 36 ppg felton contributes when you subtract free throws and three pointers that felton dishes to. amare scores about the same ppg as melo but is more of a defensive presence(yeah not much) and he plays like a leader and acts like one too. although chandler doesn't score as much as melo he doesn't give up anywhere near as much as him. the difference between chandler and melo is the defence.

in a way metro is correct but lets not forget melo is a legit proven scorer, but we are second in the league or so in scoring, do we really need that extra boost?

I don't know if we need that extra boost but we certainly could've used it that game against the Heat where they simply triple-teamed the hell out of STAT and took advantage of our lack of a second scoring option.

There's no such thing as having too much offense - that'd be like saying "hey Miami, you already have two franchise players...do you really want a third in LeBron James as well!" While the Heat could just as readily go and address some other needs (PG, SG, C, bench), they'd be stupid to turn him down...

Melo's defense isn't great, but we forget that this is a guy who beat Kobe's Lakers by himself (basically) and gave them one hell of a fight before losing in 6 games. Carmelo demands the ball a lot on the Nuggets because...who else is going to take shots? Al Chuckington? J. R. "Brick" Smith? Chauncey "on or off" Billups? No, of course he's going to take the most shots on that team, he's far and away the best player and it's not even close.

Also for the record, Carmelo is not a bad passer at all. He averages 3.2 Assists per Game whilst not being the primary ballhandler for his team, that's good for 8th in the league amongst forwards which is pretty good.

Carmelo & STAT playing together would demand double teams like nobody's business. We'd almost CONSTANTLY have 2 shooters open on the wing to hit the 3 pointer because Carmelo and STAT both demand double teams whereas none of our other players really do that just yet.

Again, I'm not saying he'd be the best fit but we have to give credit where it's due, and the fact is Melo is an amazing scorer who has proven himself time and time against as being able to get the ball in the basket from almost anywhere on the court. He can play off the ball, he can pass, and he can rebound. He's not much of a defender, though, but if we have guys on our team who can back him up in that regard...
