I like him and all.. but if we can get a low first round pick for him from the Magic....

...and get him off our cap.. I'd do it now..save us $4.4 mil on the cap..

He's hurt..and when he's healthy.. he shouldnt be playing more than 20 minutes anyway..but that another topic

we gonna be bad defensivly anyway..... there got to be another big out there that can give us what ronny did...

in the d league or something..im sure the leading rebounder/defender in the d league can give us just as much.....

I agree, if for nothing else the cap space will be usefull. Tufiaf is a good of the bench player, but he is a huge offensive liability in Mike D's system.
I say trade him for a back up point guard and give his minuts to Mozzy and AR.

Why? He is our best shot blocker and brings tremendous energy as well as being very well liked by the team. As far as cap space, next year is a team option so if we want to save that cap space just don't pick up the option.

disagree. turiaf is one of the "glue" guys in the locker room. He plays good defense and is a good mentor to the young and inexperienced second unit. His value is immeasurable. You don't just find guys with his demeanor, attitude, defensive skill set and work ethic. He's a beast. He is probably the second last guy on the team I would want to trade after STAT.

Wow...just wow....:barf:

Turiaf barely plays is always hurt when he does he is a contributor but at 4.4mil we need something consistent. Anderson is on a rookie scale contract that has a team option, meaning it would save us cap give us a pick and someone who can play. A big that can shoot and score, Turiaf is offensively challenged.

When is the last game Turiaf played well or played at least 20mins?

Considering the weakest part of the Knicks is at center with the biggest need being rebounding and defense, you just picked a PF who struggles defensively, doesn't rebound, low FG% and is purely a spot up 3 shooter. He fits Orlando well, but we don't have Dwight Howard.

Might as well pick up Spencer Hawes in the offseason who at least rebounds and gets blocks if thats what you're looking for.

Considering we are a 3 ball shooting team fast break team, we might want a big who can run the floor and SHOOT. And if we trade Turiaf now we would have enough cap to resign Wilson or Maybe take back a bad contract from Denver to get that deal done.

In the off season we would be looking for a more defensive minded C who can play minutes. Anderson who be just a one year rental to get us under the cap and a pick we can use for Denver

does team chemistry really account for nothing? Adding some stop gap solution and then finding another stop gap solution with no accounting for team chemistry seems irresponsible.

The longer you can keep a team together typically, the better they will play. It's why Miami won't win a championship this year, Because boston and LA have been playing together for years and years.

We don't ask turiaf to score points. He takes such a laughably low number of shots that he is pretty much non-existant on the offensive end. But you'll also need to take note of the situations when he is put in the game. He is our defensive specialist, much like geffries was last season.

I'll agree that on the offensive end turiaf is near useless. If he ever learned how to finish off the picknroll he'd be dangerous.

Perhaps you are right that at 4.4 mill we should ask for more from a guy, but i don't think the league would value him much under that 4.4 mill. So if you want to give up all semblance of a defense and team culture trade him. if you want someone to try to stop opposing 3's,4's, and 5's. lets keep him.

We need Turiaf. He is that energy guy that comes of the bench and get everybody fired up. Crowd included. Trade him would be a huge mistake. Some people you just don't trade. He is one of them.

I might agree with you if he wasn't so brittle but he is and therefore doesn't fit in the category of "people you just don't trade"

If we're gonna pay oft injured Turiaf 4 mil then we might as well push hard for Oden.

You're acting like Turiaf is a Legit C, he's a back up center making close to 5 million a year, that barely plays because of injury. He doesn't have a certain skill set he is just a coach able energy player.:alert: And he has a PO :alert:that could hurt us from getting a legit C

He can't lock his man down and is in foul trouble a lot, I think his stats are quite inflated because most his blocks come from the weakside and usually the team gets the ball back and still scores. He does jack shit on offensive to the point that some teams barely check him:alert: making it easier to guard Amare. Some times he passes up wide open layups for threes and his jumper is :barf::barf::barf:.

If team chemistry mattered we wouldn't be talking about trading for Melo would we? Who cares that much for team chemistry when we would only be losing one player and adding another(who isn't a bad locker room guy).N one is untradeable on this team except Amare, so stop adding emotions to this, Turiaf is a great guy but if you can get a better player for this system do it.

:agreed::agreed::agreed:

I will always hate the David Lee trade to GS.

Turiaf has become a very well put piece (player) to the "rebuilding-Knicks",
he is a useable bigman off the bench that does all the things star-bigmen
dont do.
Plus his team morale is to high to say goodbye.

Why is it so hard for Knick-fans to understand Celebrity Coach Dantoni has
NO-Experience in coaching 3-NBA bigmen into his rotation. He couldnt put
two (30 minute) bigmen in his rotation in Denver, Phoenix, and his 2 and a
half seasons in New York. Nothing changed!
Ex-Knick bigmen wouldve had Dantoni Fired in a couple of months like Don
Nelson short visit in New York: Reed & Debuschere, or Cartwright & King,
or Ewing & Oakley, or Camby & Kurt Thomas
