Once upon a time ...

there was a kingdom called New York. It was a well colonised place with many well meaning folk but alas something was wrong in New York, it had been in mourning since the loss of its great leader King Patrick of Ewing.

Many potential succesors' had tried to earn the right to sit on his throne but alas none where worthy, at one time even a court jester by the name of Starbury son of Marbury was allowed to undertake the necessary tasks, the less said about this time though, the better.

Then one day a giant from the west appeared in the media forest of New York and he spoke of how he was the man who would lead New York back to the days of yore where there had been much rejoicing.

Having spoken to the god's of New York Sir Amar'e of Stoudemire was indeed chosen to lead the people of New York into a golden new era but it was not a quest he could undertake alone.

Amar'e spoke of an experienced knight also from the west called Sir Chauncey of Billups. Sir Chauncey had made quite the name for himself for his giant killing exploits in the strange dark land of Detroit and Amar'e saw him as the man he wanted to lead his armies into battle.

On his way to New York Sir Chauncey encountered a lost soul and the lost soul joined him on his journey east.

On arrival at the palace there was a warm welcome, not like the ridiculous party that ensued in another land not so far away which we will speak of later where they believed they had already succeeded in their quest before taking a single step.

No this was more of an optimism that these three men were capable of bringing prosperity to the land of New York.

The lost soul it seems was the fabled Sir Carmelo of Anthony, a young boy when first he was forced to leave New York the god's had smiled on him and led him back home. "He's home" the people proclaimed, "tell the world he's home".

So now to the place I spoke of earlier, the strange and deluded land of Miami. Their gods had also spoken and they had heard of a kingdom in trouble where the throne was about to be abdicated. They sent forth their messengers to promise this once king untold wealth and a new kingdom to rule over, he accepted gleefully and his talents were taken to the village of South Beach.

Meanwhile in South Beach, the king of Miami, King Dywane of Wade had agreed to abdicate his throne for the arrival of this mysterious figure from Cleveland. Many of his people told him this was a strange decision and one he would regret but the king had made up his mind.

The god's of Miami felt that there was not enough laughter in Miami and so they decided to recruit Sir Chris of Bosh as their court jester. Sir Chris was overjoyed at the chance to relocate to the warmer climbs of South Beach and became the Larry to the previously recruited Curly and Moe.

The prophecy foretells of a great battle that will take place between these two and the word "playoffs" is recurrent in said prophecy, what the future holds however, none of us can know.

The Tale of New York; Scroll II

Now that Sir Amar’e of Stoudemire had united forces with Sir Chauncey of Billups and Sir Carmelo of Anthony, kingdoms all throughout the East trembled in fear. Miami found its walls breached by New York footmen in almost embarrassing fashion, and was defeated without much resistance.

The fabled wizards of Amway-upon-Orlando were the next to face the mighty siege works of the New York forces. Despite facing certain defeat, by some beguiling magic they were able to imbue the Lord Quentin of Richardson with superhuman abilities the likes of which had never been seen in New York. New York suffered a surprising defeat, and Sir Chauncey of Billups was hexed by the evil Duke Dwight of Howard, a curse which has not been lifted even to this day.

Unfazed by this setback, the mighty armies of New York set sight on the kingdom of New Orleans, led by the mythical figure known across the land only as ‘CP3.’ The Knickerbocker legions found the once-proud kingdom in such a state of disrepair that the battle will go down in the annals of history as the Creole Massacre.

However, on the march back to the King’s Garden the Knickerbocker army suffered an ambush at the hands of Baron Davis of…Davis and his mounted Cavalier troops. Swearing revenge, the noble Knights of New York returned home to rest for the impending clash with the upstart hawk-trainers of the Georgian province. The young band of pigeon masters found the experience and strength of the Knickerbocker Knights to be overwhelming, and were subjugated to be the vassal state of New York.

The news of New York’s resounding victories reached even to the distant shores of the Western and Northern Empires. They knew that they were safe, but only for so long. In hushed whispers spoken in darkened halls, the Emperors of the West and North began to plan for the impending invasion of the kingdom that was steadily gaining power in the East.

Alas, a new twist has arisen in this saga. Sir Carmelo of Anthony is rumored to have lineage from the storied County of Kings. Could he be the one to ascend to the long-vacant throne of King Patrick? The story is yet to be fully written, but once complete it can be sure to rival the epics of the City of Wind and the Land of the Lakes.

Scroll Three "The Magic Number":

There were those that started to doubt the power of the kingdom of New York and who could blame them? In their latest battle against the Celtics of Bostonia they were demolished. Why? Sir Amar'e of Stoudemire had befallen an evil curse which meant he must lie down on hard wood for the duration of the battle, a similar curse seemed to take hold of Sir Chauncey of Billups but manifested itself by only allowing him to sit and watch and many believe that Sir Landry of Fields was given the wrong directions to the battle as he didn't even seem to turn up for the fight. The one bright spot in the battle was Sir Carmelo of Anthony who fought valiantly against insurmountable odds and came away from the battle a hero despite the spectre of defeat.

All was not well amoung those in the kingdom of New York. One day however Sir Carmelo of Anthony recalled an encounter with a magician he had become friends with and remembered of the promise that the magician had spoken of that he would join with Sir Carmelo and Sir Amar'e to win many battles in the future and so Sir Carmelo sent word to the Gods of the kingdom and they were in agreement that all must be done to acquire the services of this sorcerer.

Meanwhile in Ye Olde Orleans they had heard of the rumours regarding the Kingdom of New York and were determined not to let their wizard leave at any cost. You see the wizard had protected Ye Olde Orleans from the fate of extinction on many occasions and like Sir Carmelo had fought valiantly in his own recent battle against the two headed Dragon of the Lake, "Kopau".

On hearing of the news of New York's call to arms the magician who goes by the name of Picas Hurl Thrice was overjoyed at the news and began his journey, but when he came to leave the province of Ye Olde Orleans he was met at the gate by Dell of Demps and Sir Monty of Williams who pleaded with him not to undertake his quest. PHT was unmoved by their pleas having heard their promises of gold before and not seen them come to fruition but for the moment was helpless to make it through the gates of Ye Olde Orleans.

Our story continues .... soon.
