NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Michael Jordan will make what should be his final appearance in a uniform at Madison Square Garden on Sunday when the Washington Wizards visit the New York Knicks.

The 40-year-old Jordan, who said this will be his final season, has had numerous amazing performances at the Garden throughout his career, frequently frustrating the Garden faithful by eliminating the Knicks from the playoffs when he played with Chicago.

Jordan appeared at the Garden on February 28, when the Knicks retired Patrick Ewing's jersey at halftime of their game against Orlando. Jordan was met with a mix of boos and cheers, but he is expected to receive a warm reception on Sunday.

Washington is in ninth place in the Eastern Conference, 1 1/2 games behind Orlando and Milwaukee, who are tied for seventh, and three games ahead of 10th-place New York.

On Friday, the Wizards lost to the Bucks at home, 85-82. Jordan missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer that would have sent the game into overtime.

Jordan collected 27 points and nine rebounds and Christian Laettner added 19 and eight for the Wizards, who nearly came back from a 12-point fourth-quarter deficit.

The Knicks defeated Orlando on the road on Friday, 111-102. Latrell Sprewell scored 33 points, Allan Houston 25 and Shandon Anderson a season-high 20 points for New York, which outscored Orlando by 53-36 over the final 19 1/2 minutes by using a smaller lineup to erase an eight-point third-quarter deficit.

The Wizards have won the last five meetings against the Knicks after losing the previous six. Washington is 2-0 against New York this season, including an 89-84 triumph here on January 11.
