While an MRI taken yesterday on Tim Duncan's sprained right ankle was negative, a Spurs spokesman said the reigning MVP is listed as "questionable" for tonight and will likely be a game-time decision.
Since the Spurs have a crucial game on Thursday at Dallas, don't be surprised if Duncan sits tonight out.
"It helps for him to not be there a great deal, like God has blessed us," Don Chaney said. "[But] we're preparing as if he's going to be there. If he's there, we're ready."
Of course, how ready can they really be? The last time the two teams played, the Knicks earned a pulsating 96-95 victory, but Duncan tore them up for 31 points and 17 rebounds.
The truth is, a matchup like this is where Antonio McDyess' absence is felt the most. Chaney even lamented that fact, noting that were McDyess healthy, the coach would be able to play Duncan straight-up. No double team necessary.
