The Boston Celtics announced Saturday that forward Jeff Green will undergo heart surgery next month and will miss the entire 2011-12 season.

A routine physical administered after Green agreed to a one-year, $9 million contract with the Celtics last week detected an aortic aneurysm.
After consulting with leading cardiac specialists, the decision was made to completely repair Green's condition, and doctors indicated to him that he should be able to resume his basketball career during the 2012-13 season.
"While we are saddened that Jeff will not be able to play this season, the most important thing is his health, and we were fortunate to have access to an amazing team of specialists to evaluate Jeff's case," Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge said. "The entire Celtics family supports Jeff during this difficult time in his career."
Green will undergo surgery Jan. 9 at the Cleveland Clinic. At the request of Green, the team declined all further comments on the situation.

damn, hope all is well with him and in the grand scheme( meaning life, not just basketball ) this is just a speed bump. wish him the best

on the basketball side they just lost an important piece. looks like were taking this division

Hopefully he can recover and lead a normal life. Perhaps even return to the court as Ronny Turiaf has. My prayers are with the kid.

Man - that sucks the big one.

I felt sorry for this kid when he ended up in Boston, unwelcome nonetheless, to play with a bunch of dick holes, and now this!

Sending the good energy his way.

It is a big blow to Boston, but presumably his one year deal becomes void and they can spend up ~ no doubt Kris Humphries. He'd be a big boon to the Celdics.

Best of luck to Jeff Green, i hope everything goes successful and hes healthy again ASAP

The Celtics have big problems now, im thinkin they might finish third behind Philly

How long until KG and Pierce join Jeff Green on the sideline for the rest of the year? Green might actually make it back before them
