I love Balkman but

The only thing that stopped him from being the next Gerald Wallace was his work ethic.

TBH.. Im surprised he even stayed in the league as long as he has so far.. Goes to show how far pure hustle alone can take you.. It's a skill.

Nothing wrong with hitting the Playstation after practice/between games on the road.

You're reading too much into that pic!

Athletes have freetime too, you know?!

I actually think Balkman could help us. Dude had that one real nice game @ the Nets in the preseason -- why didn't we build on that? To be fair, Mike actually tried him for a couple of games early (in a lot of the losses--@ GS, @ the LAL--none of which were Balk's fault btw) and then hasn't gone back to him since. Why? I like the guy's intangibles -- relentless hustle/energy, runs the court like a deer, rebounds, plays D, and I think he's a better offensive player than people think...Until we come up with someone better, I'd play him, even at backup 2 ahead of Walker.

Like everyone else, Balk would look even better with a good PG on the floor. I'd really like to see what Shump and Balk would look like playing together for stretches.

Its a damn shame...hes very athletic and hustles as hard as anybody

I agree with RunningJumper, hes still worthy of a rotation spot. Antoni should give him some minutes

balkman sucks balls. he gets no minutes because his offensive game is trash. if he added the three ball to his game you could justify keeping him on the floor, especially on this team. when opponents double amare n melo and balkman gets the ball for an open look you almost know w certainty it will be a brick. No coach can afford to have a guy like that on the floor unless said guy rebounds and defends like Rodman/ Wallace. he hustles but that aint tangible enough.

Mike 'Antoni? Is that you?

listen and learn people.. you CANNOT at his height and skill level get consistent minutes in the nba. period

We could use Balkman's defense off the bench. It's not like Douglas has been good on offense either.

really?

again its about skill level. if td couldn't hit a barn he'd be on the bench too.

balkman is like shorter, more athletic, broke man's version of Travis outlaw lol

We could definitely use Balkman...in this shortened season we're going to need all the players we can get, and Balkman, despite not being the greatest scorer, has shown the ability to play defense and grab rebounds, two things that we need to make sure we have from our bench.

Now that I think about it, though, I seem to recall him hitting a couple of jumpers here or there. Maybe I just imagined it? But it's stupid not to give him a chance - there's no way he could be worse than Landry Fields, who so far has been shooting like Helen Keller and is getting playing time by virtue of his rebounding stats from LAST YEAR.

Give Balkman a shot - if only to preserve Carmelo and Amar'e's legs from the playoffs.

I shouldve known....out of all the Knuckle-heads in this KO forum u are the
Leader of the bunch. writing bullshut after bullshut.
Basketball & Football is not just about offense....only dum people like Dolan,
Isiah, Dantoni, and ronoranina thinks that way.

Balkman plays to his best skills/talents....he screens/picks/boxout/rebounds,
and have accurate passing-skills.
Dum-Dum Dantoni dont coach to players talents, or their co-existence with
other teammates....if Dantoni knew anything about NBA basketball he would
be coaching the Knicks according to the heavy schedual coming up, our bench
players of "Bibby/Shump/Balkman/Jorts/and Jordan" wouldve been the starters
in the 2nd quarter as our 2nd unit off the bench the first 15 games of the season.
The 2nd-unit improvement each game in the 2nd-quarter would keep our
STARTERS on their toes. Its not hard to see Jorts & Jordan are more offensive
incline to scoring downlow with their back to the basket than Tyson & Stat
(who is best for alley-oop passes only).

After watching the great game of the Saints vs 49ers final minutes/seconds
touchdown win....I turned on the Knicks vs OKC game, Stats refusal to play
defense in the first two quarters of the game standing under the basket
letting Harden & Westbrook get easy layups over him, everybody in my house
started arguing that Dantoni shouldve been fired already, and Stat is a worst
defensive player than no-defense Melo, which made me have to change the
game to the Broncos Teboy getting a homemade ashwhippin from the Patriots.
No one wanted to see any of the Knicks vs OKC 2nd half of the game, after
OKC exposed how weak the Knicks were at every position on offense & defense
during the first half of the game. Every NBA fan in my home rather watch the
Patriots build a 28 point lead over the Denver Broncos.

No my dude.. I posted from sound, proven logic based on what I've seen works over the many years I've watched/played the game of basketball.

You post out of your ass.

I don't know where you get some of the nonsense you spew on here, same with the above.

The ONLY time Balkman got a serious look was during the putrid Isiah thomas era when he was trying to justify the inane pick of this offensively inept, average rebounding, PF in SG's body.

Why is this so hard to see/ understand???

Balkman is horrible. He's right where I said he'd be now that JJ is back, riding the pine. Even before JJ was back he received very limited minutes.

George Karl, a coach you might respect, even sat this guy consistently.

(sigh) Balkman is career practice squad type. He could've been Shane Battier or Bruce Bowen, but he never worked on his shot (i actually agree w the premise of this thread).

Again.. for the slow witted. YOU CAN NOT PLAY IN THIS LEAGUE AT HIS HEIGHT IF YOU HAVE NO JUMP SHOT! Hustle is not enough at 6'8''. The only way you'll get consistent minutes as a hustle type is if you're taller or just a beast, meaning you can also contribute in other aspects like presence in the paint with shot blocks, rebounds n the like on a prolific level..

He doesn't do these things and he can't shoot so he sits.. and will continue to sit.

amazing post.

You're better than that.
