What Predict we finish the season out!

This puts us 10 games over .500 and about the 4th or 5th in The East

Now this may not be what some of us who thought this was a championship year wanted to hear, but this is realistic expectaion for a team with a core of players who have not played together...think about it, Toney Douglas,Bill Walker,Stat and Feilds are the only guys who have been teamates for all of last year and this year, with Feilds and Stat the only starters from the past two years!

How many years did it take Dallas to win a title? Talk about perseverence, they went through like 5 coaches since Dirk has been there and they collasped in the Finals, they were the best team in the NBA (acutlly flirted with the all time wins in a season) just to get knocked out in the first round, they made bad trades, good trades, bad signings, good signings, injuries, changing of GM's and then finally......A Title!!!!

Remeber The Piston team that won w/ Larry Brown, that core was mediocore for years, they started to gel, Sheed fell into their lap and Prince and Chauncy evolved, and they became a powerhouse

Shaq was on the Lakers for 3 years before they started to win Titles! Even the recent run The Lakers went on came after some very average years for The Lakers with a core of Kobe,L.O., Bynum and Fisher, yes Gasol put them over the top, yet they were a 2nd seed in The West at the time of the deal showing things were starting to come together for them

My point is that we are expecting too much from our team this year, we are caught up in seeing Boston put together a "Big 3" and seeing them win it all instantly (albeit only one time) and seeing Miami go from middle of the pack to Title Contender (althought they loss in The Finals to a more cohesive team), these are exceptions to the rule, not the blue print!

Lets Think of our last NBA Finals bound team, we made moves to bring in Childs,Houston and LJ to an already talented squad with All Stars Ewing,Starks and Oakley...... that team never even made it to The East Finals! The core just took time to gel, we did, and of course we added Spree and Marcus to it, but even at first that was not an instant success!

So, let's table the crazy expectations and let this thing come together slowly because we have a very talented team!

I dont think expecting the Knicks to beat lottery teams from the previous year is crazy...

OKC lost to The Wizards!

Lakers lost to Golden State!

Chicago got blown out by Memphis at home w/ out ZBo

The Cavs, Jazz, Bucks and Clippers all were lottery bound teams last year and the all beat The Heat at least one time last season....it is indeed unrealistic to expect us to beat lottery teams everytime out!

I get what you are saying, but what I'm saying is that it is too early to have expectations beyond hard work and effort on both ends of the court!

Those teams have also beaten contenders, we have only one win against a team with a winning record, and they were on their 3rd game in 3 nights. Our other victories: Celtics, Kings, Wizards, Pistons, and Bobcats, are all bad teams.

Hard work and effort backs you into the occasional win against a team with an above .500 record at least 2 or 3 times in 14 games.

It most definitely doesn't lead to a 4 game losing streak.

Expectations are tapered. I still wanna not shoot 35 3-pointers and lose to the Raptors.

The problem with your prediction is that you don't take into consideration our poor coaching staff. Mike Antoni has zero emphasis on defense, and he lets Carmelo Anthony do whatever he wants on offense. The Knicks will be lucky to even make the playoffs.

This Knicks' offense needs to run through Stoudemire. He's the only guy who can drive to the basket for dunks and layups at will. Anthony should be used for isolation plays only when Stoudemire is on the bench.

Tyson Chandler should not be in the post. He rarely attempts shots, so it's a complete waste to have him in the post and not Amar'e. Chandler's role should be like Ben Wallace's role on the 2004-2008 Pistons. Rebounding and block shots only.

The Knicks need to start Toney Douglas at the point, and have him as a defensive specialist/pass first point guard. The only reason Douglas struggled was because Antoni wanted him to jack up 3s for his seven seconds or chuck system. Douglas is not Allen Iverson, so there's no need for him to attempt more than 8 shots per game.

With the right coaching staff, this team could win 40 games this year, but with Antoni, the Knicks will be lucky to win 30.

Listen anything is possible. Apparently Eddie Curry lost 100 pounds and I just saw him score his first basket since being a knick.

Please know that I am no die hard Dantoni supporter, I am truly on the fence about him....yet we can bring Phil Jackson out of retirement and let my man Jeff Van Gundy be his top assitant and this team would still struggle!

Now due to the differences in coaching styles there would be different struggles, Phil would better know how to use Melo and Stat, yet how would he deal with not having a legit starting PG? Shump would not have the confidence to chuck up shots like he did in Memphis, yet, Jorts would be forced on the block

My point is this team needs to learn each other and each other's roles on the squad

A different coach may have us with a 8-6 record....but isnt even that record an underachivement for the talent level?

I promise you The Knicks win more than 30 games this season!!!

not defending Dantoni, just being a realist!

The 99 Knicks underachived and fans called for Van Gundy's head....its does not always boil down to bad coaching
