Melo does deserve a lot of blame. His defense has been pure crap. Same with Stat. I seriously think our team is better without them. It's pretty sad when you're hoping your top-2 paid stars get hurt so your team can get some wins. It's also obvious that MDA has no control over Stat/Melo. Any NBA coach would find ways to motivate his stars and hold them accountable for their bad play. But of course MDA does nothing as usual and Mr. "so-called" clutch Melo couldn't even hit a foul shot today and hasn't hit his shots for weeks now... And I haven't seen Stat hit a covered shot for weeks. All of Stats points are coming off of open lane dunks, as soon as he's covered he misses badly, that is if he doesn't fumble the ball beforehand. ugh.

I'm so tired of these crappy stars. I'd take 5 Tyson Chandlers, F these sorry ass offensive players (Stat/Melo) who play NO defense but want the ball in their hands everytime up the court. They kill us on both sides of the court and I'd be happy if they were both gone. They can take D'Antoni with em.

Agree. Nice post!

I also think Jeremy Lin needed to be a key scorer in the game. His shooting is much more consistent and efficient in that game. He had established a solid rhythm and was feeling it ---- instead of forcing it with Carmelo.

this had nothing to do with Melo, Amare, or Lin being the key offensive player. this was a defenseless game. The knicks played no defense save for a few possessions in the fourth. Hell shump got no burn at all because D'antoni decided with 2/3 of his defensive "specialist" out he was going to play Sun's Basketball against a team that has been on a winning streak playing Sun's Basketball.

"Hmmm...... Let's see if Lin can defend Jennings one-on-one........ Hee-hee-hee......... OMG!!!! He made Jennings shoot an air ball!!!! Oh darn, I forget we had to get the rebound........."

Sure its key - you weren't going to get any defense from the most seasoned players on the team. So the only way you were going to win that was offense. Key offensive failures - not paying attention - and selection of whom was taking the shot decided the game.

I would have liked to see Shump in for Baron Davis - because at least we could have swapped out the turnovers and missed shots for some solid D and someone that clicks with Lin.

Baron Davis 4-10, Carmelo 7-17

The point was how were they going to win the game in light of no defense by parts of the team.

It was still winnable.

It wasn't even defenseless per se - you just had the guys being paid millions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of $$ per game - not jumping. Their feet were glued to the ground, refusing to sprint from one side of the court to the other. Watching the BUCKS - actually JUMP.

Hell I can jump a few inches off the ground and I would have had a better chance then the guys that weren't even jumping -I saw a LOT of hustle by Lin.

I am convinced now that without some major changes, this team is going down in flames. What a pathetic showing again on defense. I have no idea if replacing MDA would change anything if the same group of players are still playing.

Hell, let's fire someone. Trade some players. Enough of this shit.

This is ****ing pathetic bro this shit messes up my day and weekend.. I dont even want to watch TV anymore

Totally agree. I almost decided to not watch the game tonight because I knew what was going to happen and sure enough it did. F*cking bitches. I've seen HS teams play better defense. Half of the time our players are switching when they didn't even have to. If we get a new coach, 1st rule should be NO MORE SWITCHING!

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but i think we will rue the day we traded Mello for the players we had and obvious growing chemistry in with the team. I dont know exactly how the trade went down, but to lose Chandler, Gallinari , Felton and a few others for what we got in return is starting to look very bad...

I pray we can turn it around

Amare allowed Ilyasova to shoot 69%...
Carmelo/Fields allowed Dunleavy to shoot 62%...

Defense wins games, if you can't hold your player (who isn't even close to $$$ you make) at 50% or lower you should GTFO.

I decided to skip this one and it turned out to be great decision.

Giving up 119 to Bucks?

Ilyasova 25 pts Dunleavy 25 pts?

Like I said many times before Amare and Melo are cancer to this team, sure they can score a lot but they just don't play ANY defence. No effort, ZERO.

Two most overrated and overpaid "superstars" not just in NBA but in all sports.

I did some math again and checked our record of all games Carmelo played as a Knick... 26-34 (.433), since the trade he missed 14 games and our record without him is 8-6 (.570). :teeth:

Tough game to judge as it was a shooting contest. But:

1. With like 20 seconds to go and only down by I think 2, Jennings trapped near mid court line and Clyde says "Don't foul, he has no place to go". They foul and Jennings gets 2 at the line. Now down by 4.

So, why does our coach not know to not foul, yell to the players, "NO FOUL NO FOUL".

2. Stat & Melo are not defensive players, they are scorers, but they could have done more on D, I mean really.

3. Lin played well, even covered Jennings decent. Lin shows heart & hustle.

If you are not a defensive player then you are not a player.....Defense is pure effort....MELO IS PURELY LAZY ON DEFENSE....AND STAT PLAYED SCARED....

Its such a shame because they are both so athletic all it would take is full blown effort.....its such a travesty.

And I know both will step up in the playoffs but now lets hope we make them.

The Bucks are a 16 -24 record team for a reason....NO DEFENSE
Coach Skiles offense/defense system is considered tier-3 strategy....
He depend on Jennings creative leadership on offense, and Gooden's vocal team leadership on defense....Tier-1 coach Pop depends 25% on Parker & Duncan leadership, the 75% belongs to coach Pop strategic system.

The Knicks allowing the Bucks to get 17 offensive-rebounds to the Knicks 9 offensive rebounds gave the Bucks 93 shot attempts to the Knicks 83 shot attempts....who assignment was it for the defensive-rebounds? was it one of the most minute played players, which become a team factor?

Lin 42 min
Stat 37 min
Melo 37 min
Fields 37 min
Bdiddy 31 min

The Knicks have a roster load of talent on top of talent, yet the Knicks dont have a 2nd half strategy to win a game....this was showed and proven in the Knicks past four road games losing in the 2nd half of the game.
Defense is a team responsibility (all 5 players), its not one or two players....Lin-Sanity prove that in his 7 game win streak with a 30+ minute rotation of co-exist defensive players -Tyson, Jefferies, Fields, Shump....it didnt matter if a 40 minute Lin-Sanity made 15 turnovers these 5 Knicks players caused "STOPS" in the passing-lane, peremeter, or any fool who was willing to challenge Tyson Chandler in the paint in the final quarter of the game.

Just want to say a few things about the magical Linsanity that everyone refers to and uses as a benchmark.

The most obvious- Tyson Chandler was healthy and giving us 40+ minutes.

Our paint presence on D allowed guys like Lin and Shump to play better D as they could gamble more hoping to get bailed out. When Chandler is not in, everyone becomes exposed it seems.

Most of these games were at home. We were getting friendly calls. The games on the road, we looked pretty shaky, and it took some serious grit/luck down the stretch to win a couple of them.

Never thought I'd say this, but Jared Jeffries is a beast on the offensive boards.. hes so long and quick with his tip outs- it makes a huge difference. And he was definitely a symbol of the Knicks pathetic struggles last year!

But seriously, why is nobody talking about the officiating over the last 4 games? The call on Lin where he "fouled" Jennings on the jump shot in 4th quarter was a joke. The travelling call on Stat was shaky at best. It seems we're getting screwed on pretty much every call down the stretch in the last 4 road games.......

Hmmm, Jeffries is the forgotten man during this Linsanity but he has been a beast on offensive board and great on defense.

Am I actually saying that Jared Jeffries and Tyson Chandler are the missing piece of a great Knicks team?
