Is this possible?

There are a few teams like Washington & Charlotte that still have their Amnesty clause... As one Knick fan I wouldn't be against a trade like this:

Example 1: NY Knicks & Charlotte Bobcats

Knicks send Amar'e to Charlotte for Corey Maggette & Tyrus Thomas...

Both Corey & Tyrus are probably on the chopping block by Charlotte:

Corey last year $11M contract - yes injury prone but for one year well worth the risk
Tyrus 3 years left $26M contract - could fill our rotation with a young talented player or be used as trade bait for other player(s) or draft pick(s)

Actually would like Tyrus Thomas @ PF could fit nicely in our starting rotation with Melo, Shumpert, Lin, & Chandler... Think this rotation would be steady productive...

Why would Charlotte do this because they will free up $20M with this trade and use Amnesty on Amar'e Stoudemire... Since using Amnesty doesn't put against the cap, New York Knicks Business could send financial support to Charlotte without it being held against either team's cap space...

Thoughts???

Knicks send Amar'e to ORL.

ORL sends Dwight Howard to the Lakers, who also have to eat Hedu's contract (something they can do b/c the possess a 9 mil trade exemption they got from DAL in the Odom deal). Magic get Bynum back in return.

Lakers send Gasol to HOU.

Rockets send Martin & Scola to NY. HOU also gets Glen Davis & Toney Douglas, & possibly draft picks from LAK and/or ORL.

In my opinion, a good trade is not possible. At least not before or beginning of the season.

I would like to see the Knicks negotiate a contract to Goran Dragic, Brandon Bass, and maybe Anthony Tolliver.

Must re-sign Novak. Then resign Jeffries and J.R. Smith.

JR has player option and rumors have him declining that option to test free agency...

Have you ever seen a team with Corey Maggette win? He is a black hole. With JR Smith returning and Melo on the team there are not going to be enough basketballs in the game; most likely not even in practice.

1. You can only amnesty a player whose contract was on that teams books before the new CBA kicked in.

2. Can we atleast give our team an offseason with a stable head coach before attempting to trade them for trash.

Why would the Magic trade for both Bynum and STAT. Ryan Anderson is better then Amar'e right now.

If Magic, Lakers & The Knicks were to make a monumental trade it could be this:

Dwight Howard & Hedu Turk to Lakers

Andrew Bynum & Earl Clark to Knicks - Bynum last year of his contract could - sign & trade - Earl Clark SF/PF

With rumors of JR Smith not accepting his players option then sign & trade Landry Fields to trade with Stat to Orlando

Landry Fields is one of those causalities that we all can agree we don't want moved but to rid Stat and build a winning formula here in New York this might need be to done...

**Still think Melo needs to redo his contract either add years and reduce his current pay even if we move Stat...**

I'm not saying they would... Just going w/ the rumors that they considered Tyson Chandler & Amar'e for Howard.

ORL would be super motivated to dump Hedu's contract. Obviously they covet a young BIG to replace Howard, or at least a potential All-Star caliber player. Bynum certainly fits that mold.

Amar'e is a hometown kid. If ORL trades Howard, I can imagine the fans will be ticked off. Attendance may suffer. HOWEVER, it can be sold to the fans that Bynum + Amar'e is better than just Dwight. Howard "quit" on the team, they've moved to replace him while still being competitive. The hometown kid gives them a bump in the excitement factor.

They trade proven star for budding star, & they swap bad contracts. They may move to deal Glen Davis in this scenario. Maybe he's even part of this somehow.

As for Anderson... He extends the floor. Shoots the 3. They could go BIG lineup with Anderson-Amar'e-Bynum. Or, Anderson is the 6th man.

Amar'e also helps Bynum ease into his new environment. He wont have all the pressure on him, for Stoudemire will alleviate that from his shoulders. Amar'e proved he wants to be the leader, he was in NYK when he first arrived.

It's not a crazy idea. STAT comes with risk, but he's still a good player, would attract some buzz, would help Bynum get comfortable, and would help ORL win next season.

There is a mutual feeling on Dwight Howard to New York...
Howard wants Brooklyn or Lakers, so a 3 team trade would be the obvious move...

Knicks get: Andrew Bynum from LA Lakers & Earl Clark from Orlando Magic

Magic get: Amar'e Stoudemire & Tyson Chandler from NY Knicks

Lakers get: Dwight Howard & Hedo Turk from Orlando

With Bynum Knicks would still have $10-13M cap space to Re-Sign own players like Landry Fields, Jeremy Lin, Jared Jeffries, Steve Novak, Mike Bibby...

Knicks would have ability to get two role players or 1 starter in Free Agency... With any trade, Knicks could get a couple of draft picks from both Orlando and LA where we could build via draft...

Starting Rotation:

Jeremy Lin/FA or Draft
Iman Shumpert
Carmelo Anthony
Earl Clark/FA or Draft
Andrew Bynum

Bench Rotation:
Mike Bibby/FA or Draft
JR Smith (if accepts plyr opt)/FA or Draft
Landry Fields
Jared Jeffries
Jerome Jordan

Additional Bench Players:
Steve Novak-3pt Specialist
Josh Harrelson-Prospect
FA/Draft PG

If Melo and Amare are traded to Bobcats, would they all of a sudden become Knicks rival and become an 8th seed? :boohoo:

This could be possible:

Andrew Bynum & Amar'e Stoudemire to Orlando
Dwight Howard & Hedo Turk to Lakers

Knicks receive couple role players like Earl Clark from Orlando
Josh McRoberts from Lakers also get a couple of draft pix

Knicks would have plenty enough cap space to re-sign own players retain both Lin & Fields without worrying about JR signing his player option. Any FA we could dabble in acquiring there after. Also Tony Douglas whose team option was picked up can also bring in a draft pick. Many options but this trade would give us plenty of options to make moves within and strengthen our overall team.
