Is it out of the question that we match Toronto for Fields? We only have the BAE and vet min exceptions left to sign players so keeping Landry would be a cap buster but we wouldn't be looking for another wing player if we kept him.

NBA journeyman Mike James could be on the Knicks' radar as a 3rd-string point guard.
James has a long history of injuries in his nine-season NBA career, and he spent most of last season on the Knicks' D-League affiliate in Erie, where he averaged 21.1 points, 2.1 threes, 3.7 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.1 steals.

Keep away lol, rather have somebody else as a 3rd string.

Chris Tomasson is reporting on Twitter that his sources say free agent forward Rashard Lewis is likely to join the Miami Heat for the veteran's minimum of $1.35 million.
Adding both Lewis and Ray Allen should give the Heat plenty of 3-point shooting power, and while Lewis was a disaster after signing a massive contract in Orlando, he should be a perfect fit in Miami.

now official

Rashard Lewis has agreed to a two-year contract to join the Heat.
This basically makes official our report from an hour ago that the two sides were nearing a deal. Lewis will get the veteran's minimum and should be a perfect fit for the Heat, joining Ray Allen and Norris Cole as immediate help off the bench once LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Mario Chalmers are ready for a break. The rich get richer, if Lewis is over the right knee problem that limited him to 28 games last season.

Mike James - Potentially adding a 3rd string PG

It's not a rumor, just a suggestion.

Agent Bernie Lee said Mike James is a candidate to sign minimum deal with Knicks. ?It seems like a pretty logical thing,?? Lee said of James, who could be third point behind Jeremy Lin and Jason Kidd.

Lee noted James won a title with Detroit in 2004 when Knicks coach Mike Woodson was a Pistons assistant. Lee said Chicago, where James finished last season, also has maintained interest in bringing back James.

From last season:

Mike James, who the Chicago Bulls recently signed to a 10-day contract, told ESPN Chicago that the New York Knicks nearly released Jeremy Lin last month in order to sign James from the D-League.

It would be nice to have that extra PG, IMO. In Douglas' absence - not that he could come even close to ever playing a PG's role - having basically only Kidd, Lin and SG JR Smith as primary ball handlers, it'd be nice to have an experienced backup in case of injury.

Picking up someone out of desperation on a quick D-League call up after a potential injury, as opposed to keeping someone on the roster to learn the system and form familiarity with the team, would not be a good call.

One last piece for insurance's sake.

Doesn't necessarily have to be Mike James, of course.

Mike James Mix ~ keep in mind that it's from 2008.

We need to make a run at Raja Bell, i think he's the perfect compliment to this team, even at his age he is still a Great defender and can hit the long ball 39% from down town last season.

It's also been reported that we are looking at a sign and trade for dahntay jones.

Bell would definitely be nice. He's an intense dude! Don't know how much he'd enjoy a semi-permanent presence in the rotation though.

Is Dahntay Jones even available?! if he is then the Knicks should be all over him. Just the shooting guard the Knicks were looking for! Incredible three point shooter for the Pacers last year @ 43% 3P%, and his defense is fabulous.

I will not be surprised if the Knicks approach K-Mart Next. Jones would be a decent pickup he is a pesky defender and even when Shump comes back he could still get mins at the 3. If that SG White proves rotation worthy the knicks will have a good team.

The Bulls will not pick up SG Ronnie Brewer's option for 2012-13.
He has almost no shot at returning to the Bulls, but will likely find a bench role in the NBA.

Dahntay Jones was the starting SG on Denver when they almost went to the finals. He defended CP3 as well as anyone i've ever seen in the first round. Would love him here.
