Is it racist to be excited about the T'Wolves all white team?

The Timberwolves have now 11 white players under contract and personally I feel kind of excited about this team. I also noticed that many other white NBA followers have some positive feelings towards the whitest NBA team probably since the 40s or 50s... my question is: do colored people think it's racist to like a team only because its players are white?

At some point their entire starting lineup may be all-white:

PG Rubio
SG Ridnour
SF Kirilenko
PF Love
C Pekovic

their coach is white too.

Personally I think it is exciting because blacks have dominated NBA for years so when you see a team like that perform well it makes you feel good.

And yes I'm white.

BALL DON'T LIE
I'm excited to see Roy play again. The Wolves have a very good team when they're all healthy, IMO.

Rubio
Roy
Kirilenko
Love
Pekovic (?)
Williams
Barea
Stiemsma

....and to answer the question, NOT RACIST AT ALL.

No I actually think it will become a running meme this season. They should totally own it and come out to the theme song from Hoosiers or White Shadow. Also, if Shump is bringing back the flat-top, they should embrace their "white guy-ness" and bring back Bill Walton beards and tight ass shorts.

11 white guys, but these guys can ball and a lot of them are two players and these white guys are diversed as hell.

Rubio - Spain
Love - USA
Pekovic - Serbia
Kirilenko - Russia
Barea - Puerto Rico
Budinger - USA
Stiemsma - USA
Ridnour - USA
Shved - Russia
Amundson - USA

I only count 10 white guys there tho.

When corporations with federal contracts are forced to hire black specialists over the white ones it's all good, but when an NBA team signs white players over the black ones IT'S RACIST! :teeth:

That would be some funny ****! Do it for at least 1 game, short shorts , long socks and headbands...would be classic :p

Guess the answer to your question is YES. You do know calling African Americans colored is considered racist as well. Colored hasn't been used in the US in 40 years.

Well, calling colored people colored isn't considered racist in Europe... on the other hand we never call colored Europeans African/Asian/American, we're all Europeans regardless of race.

You're overreacting Red. Like I said before, "colored" isn't considered racist in Europe (at least not in the Netherlands, which is by far the most tolerant country in the world) and I didn't mean to offend anyone. I'm kind of excited because it's unusual and it'll be fun to watch. I'm wondering how an all white team will be doing and I hope the 2012-13 T'Wolves will show that white folks can ball. ;)

I think we are over extending ourselves here, what exactly is white ?
IF you told a person from russia he was white, he would probably say ummm no im russian, or serbian, or spanish, or puerto rican.
White is alot different in america with a history of slavery and oppression and martin luther kings and jim crow laws. In spain racism is of a different color, japanese are ridiculed, and in puerto rico, there is a pride set by itself apart from what makes america so segregated in its nature.

I wouldnt exactly call the timberwolves an :all white team:

Instead I would call them what is slowly becoming the future of the NBA

( an all national team )

Look at the mavs a few years ago

Dirk
Berea
Kidd
Stojacovic
chandler
Beabois
Mahinmi

Thats 7 guys spanning from america to serbia to germany and then to france

I think as americans we get caught up in this white thing,

when every where else they are what they are

mahnmi is black---- but he refers to himself as french

tony parker is black---but he refers to himself as black

Peja is white---- but he is serbian

I think my point is clear

be excited for this all national team

because there is no such thing as an all white or all black team.

Who gives a crap? The NBA has always had all black teams lately you don't hear no white man complaining about it. If here is talent and chances.to compete you can be green as far as I'm concerned.

You seem to be confused about an obvious difference between race and nationality. Europeans, based on skin color, usually consider four races: black, red, white and yellow. Obviously, such a division would probably cause some confusion across the pond as many people of Asian or native American ethnicity could consider it racist to be called respectively "yellow" and "red". But it seems to be working over here and nobody feels hurt about being called "black", "yellow" or "white", especially that it doesn't collide with nationality, which means someone can be black French, yellow Russian or white Spanish. But, I understand where you come from, I remember watching an Aries Spears show a while ago and I recall I was a little confused about him making a joke that African people hate black people which sounds unlogical as the majority of African people are black themselves. On the other hand if you asked an average Spanish guy if he was of Hispanic race he wouldn't understand what the hell are you talking about, because he's white.

White

Black

Red

Yellow

All of those are racist terms to distinguish a goup of people set aside from their actual nationality

its as bad as calling some one colored

people arent a color

as a columbia graduate in the field of social work it was hammered into our mindsets to not think of a person as a color, but instead view them as a person from an area on earth. A hatian person is a far cry from an african person and we discriminate harshly but considering both of them the same because they are labeled as ( black )

you are going to use the sick reference of yellow to describe what an asian person ? meanwhile china, korea and japan are as different as saudi arabians, isrealis and canadians.

All white team
All Black team
all whatever team

there is no white there is no black.

my complexion is white, I Was adopted by an italian mother and german father, I am spanish.

I would never consider myself a white person though and if some one said i was white, I would say umm no i am spanish.

I know alotta older white dudes that say they stopped watching basketball after the Celtics got old (from the 80's). Perhaps they will now come back as Wolves fans....
