I know we already have a topic where we talk about films but wanted to start one where we can recommend other than the ones are playing in theaters or you already heard about. Classic movies that don't get runs on TV, less commercial, less buzz around, lower budget but still great to watch.

I'll start the list with a movie i just saw yesterday

Dear mr Gacy

If you are a fan of Silence of the Lambs, or serial killer movies this one will definitely work for you!

Great movie for a feel of what NYC was like in the 90's

I thought I was the only one in the world that saw Hangin' with the Homeboys. They rarely show it on TV and when they do show it it comes on after midnight. The actors in that movie had great talent and chemistry together. It's a shame how only one of them had a career that really took off after. All the lead actors should have won an academy award. I'll always give props to Joseph Vasquez who was a great movie director, unfortunately he died too early.

Green rep.

Man, I shared the same sentiments, it's one of those gems you find alone and think no one else is really going to bump into it.

All the actors really distinguish themselves but yet bring a chemistry together how you typical are with your boys in real life. None of that fake hollywood crap always making synthetic and generic jokes, fake smiles, and having great things happen all the time.

This movie is funny without even trying, Vasquez did a great job. RIP!

Kids was a pretty good (dark) movie, enjoyed that when I was younger.

Also Battle Royale, which The Hunger Games basically copied, is a great movie (and a hell of a lot better than the teeny-bopper remake).

This movie is good for anyone interested in learning about the Nuyorican culture. And also a great movie for anyone familiar with the area near 169st and Grandconcourse in the Bronx.

Haha, we're basically related!

I loved that moving growing up, I couldnt watch it because I was too young and it had a lot of sex scenes, but you know as soon as I hit 18 I watched that mayne. God damn putting a rooster on his pinga to take away the curse from him killed me.

169th and Grandconcourse, grew up around there, I'm actually going to the gym tonight around there, so the area is very close to my heart.

Children of Men is ridiculously underrated.

I'm not sure where you'd be able to see it other than Netflix, Redbox, etc. but it's worth watching.

I watched a classic movie from the 80's recently...

This might be one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. Its similar to Billy Madison but honestly Billy Madison is corny after watching this

TR1LL10N

Hannibal Lecter
I'm going to drop some foreign gems since I'm sure many are unaware:

Irreversible: French flic, very sick and twisted. Very well done.

A Prophet: French film about gangsters and jail

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZs2vL2my7o

Carlos: Story of Carlos the Jackal (left wing terrorist)

Arn: Scandanavian film about the Knights Templar

I also highly recommend the Swedish version of the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo Trilogy:

Most if not all are on Netflix.

A few British gang related flicks I've watched recently, good movies.

Ill Manors (directed/produced by Plan B who is a British musician - soul/hip hop/electronic) probably the best of the bunch also a recent movie so quality production.

Kidulthood - older movie in the same mold, good watch.

Adulthood - sequel to the above, decent watch although suffers from being a sequel for sure.
