All these retirements, waives, signings ....awaited arrival of Chandler/Martin/Camby will it mess up our team chemistry? Too much changes within a week and the playoffs are this weekend...can Knicks hold it together? Celtics are a weak team and I don't expect any challenge from them, but my main concern is this team's preparation for the playoffs.

Yea but at least the changes are happening with people who really didn't get any tick

Nice safe pickup...legit concern Metro..yet I think (rather hope) that being that the guys we picking up are not guys who demand the ball then we should be ok

Barron is insurance and likely won't be used! If he's been playing at all anywhere hE has the type of game that he can contribute with little need to mesh w team just like KMart...hustle players fit in right away...again he prob gets no minutes except for tonight against Hawks

its a good safe move. Barron can score inside and rebound and hey you never know he might get a few minutes here or there and he is insurance. Right now in theory the bigs we should ride with or Tyson, K-Mart, Camby, in the rotation game to game and then finally Barron if someone falls out of rotation.

I think the bigger concern should be getting those bigs quickly acclimated to game action. Barron, Q they won't see much time if any....if we have our way. Playoff rotations are about 8-9 guys, the 9th being a specialist. 8 will get heavy minutes. So you're looking at Chandler, KMart, Melo, Shump, JR, Kidd, Felton and Prigioni as the playoff rotation. You're looking at Novak/Camby as specialists/foul trouble minute eaters.

Funny, I mentioned him in one of the Salomon Jones threads and said Earl Barron was better. He's a servicable backup center and a decent move because he plays a position of need. You can only play 12 guys so if QRich and Barron can play I would not hesitate to deactivate Sheed, Camby and White if they show anything in the Thursday and Friday practices.

I mentioned Yi Jianlin, anyone think he would have been a better fit. He's in shape, played in China all year and wants to come back to the NBA. 7 footer that was a a flop 5th pick but is athletic and can shoot the J.

When you made that comment, I almost replied "Why didn't they just sign Earl Barron in the first place?".

I suspect that the answer is that at that point they were still hoping Sheed could provide an offensive threat at the backup center position. Once it became clear that Sheed was not going to happen, Earl Barron was the better option to provide at least the potential of some points from the center position (or get the opposing center some fouls) without being a complete defensive liability. Camby is clearly the defensive center of last resort.

However, I do not agree with the post about the 8 man rotation. I expect both Novak and Copeland to get regular playoff minutes, so that still makes a 10 man rotation (Melo, JR, Tyson, KMart, Shump, Kidd, Felton, Prigioni, Cope, Novak) with Barron, Camby, Q, and White as the emergency subs, and Amar'e the X-factor returning at some point, most likely some time during the second round (if they make it there).

I feel good about everyone on that list except for Tyson, I am least sure about his status at this point.

I am expecting Shump and Copeland to surprise people with a large impact on these playoffs. I am also hoping that Kidd has been completely saving it up until now, and will emerge as a different player this weekend than we have seen so far this year. I am also hoping that Camby has one or two surprise games in him this post season.

I firmly expect woodson to play 10 guys a night in the playoffs, similar to how carlisle did with the mavericks 2 years ago and how the pacers did in that series against the heat last year.

You cannot sit a guy like copeland who has proven to be a legitimate scoring option all over the floor this year.

I believe it will rotate strongly as you stated, but with copeland and novak coming in for melo and k mart, with camby spelling chandler.

Felton(even though I believe Prigioni would be better for defensive purposes and ball movement)
Shumpert
Anthony
Martin
Chandler

is the starting 5 I want

Prigioni
Kidd
Smith
Copeland
Camby

are the reserves I want to see in action.

its really up to how much Camby Chandler and K Mart heal up by Sat.

Agree....this would be the ideal starting 5 and reserve lineups I would want for the playoffs too.

If STAT comes back later on and can give 10-20 efficent mins then that's gravy....but Chandler and Martin are essential to a deep run IMO. Camby coming back wouldn't hurt either.

Finally a move I can understand and get behind. I'll always prefer younger players but all considered, this was a solid pickup. This dude was VERY GOOD here a couple of years ago. I haven't forgotten that...After that successful cup of coffee, I wanted him back actually. All I wanted here was a big with a clue and some skill, not some stiff. This guy fits the bill imo -- 7', rebounds, shoots it very well from mid-range (automatically becomes our best shooting big man), puts it on the floor a little... I like him. Plus he's been around the block and won't spook easy, which is the main quality the Knicks seem fixated on these days. I could see this guy definitely helping us if called upon. Nice move. Bravo.

He's also a career 37% FG shooter for a 7 foot man...which makes everything awkward for me. We know he can hit a mid range shot, but how many will he miss?

Just my opinion....If Tyson Chandler is 100% heathy and I doubt that then he should make it through the playoff with K MART backing him up. This season saw nothing from WALLACE after the 18-5 start and nothing from CAMBY who is worthless. Then all the signings of late are meaningless.

I think your wrong. Having Camby, Qrich and earl Barron ( 7 feet ) on the bench in the case that Kmart and Chandler get hurt is a nice back up plan..........
