Game Preview

As awful as things have been going for Carmelo Anthony, he might feel even worse returning to the city he wanted to leave so he could join the New York Knicks.

Anthony is trying to avoid the longest losing streak of his career and his former team is among the hottest in the league going into Friday night's matchup with the Denver Nuggets.

It seems unlikely he'll get a warm reception from the crowd in Denver after his initial return there earlier this year included many fans jeering him throughout the game. Anthony tried to play through a knee injury but was held to nine points on 3-of-12 shooting in the 117-94 loss March 13.

He left early in the third quarter, and fans would later derisively chant "Who needs Melo?" in front of a national television audience.

Although more than eight months have passed since that meeting, Denver fans likely haven't forgotten Anthony's trade demand that resulted in him being shipped to the Knicks during the 2010-11 season.

Now the six-time All-Star will try to put an end to his current misery, with New York (3-11) having dropped seven in a row for the first time since an eight-game losing streak Feb. 5-23, 2010.

"We are in a dark place, and we've got to get out of it," said Anthony, who has never been part of an eight-game skid in his 11-year career. "We have to pinpoint what the problems are and go from there."

While he's averaged 29.6 points during the seven-game slide, Anthony hasn't received much help on a regular basis from any teammate. New York has averaged 88.4 points and shot 41.3 percent over its last five games.

I'll be curious to see who shoots worse between these 3 tonight….lol @ ESPN

lol @ Rudy Gay banning stat sheets from the team after games….Hey when you shoot 11-37fg probably difficult to explain that to those on your team who are trying to win basketball games.

Anyway Ty Lawson will be moving so fast tonight every time he scores it will look like he's scoring twice. We'll also see why we have no shot in this lifetime of trading Shumpert for Faried.

I do expect a couple players to perform better tonight…J.R. and Bargnani nevertheless we get ran out the gym tonight….

DAT DENVER MILE HIGH AIR can't be overcome we lose by double digits

Wow, we are so terrible at every facet of the game right now. D'Antoni got fired for better play than this. Anything you can do wrong in a game, we do wrong, repeatedly.

didnt the NBA make a note of calling fouls on offensive players who jump into the defenders to get calls?

I've seen it happen alot the past few days in games

We need to get to the line more, too many possessions goes to waste with the long ball. 1-11 from three is not gonna cut it.

Lucky to only be down 6 at the half. Nothing about how we played that half looked right. If Woodson can't create rotations with guys who can play with each other, then I don't know how we're supposed to beat anybody.

Shumpert and Felton might be the worst starting backcourt in the history of the NBA.

Are we sure we're not tanking? The Nuggets leave Faried in for literally minutes when he can barely walk and somehow they get a run going against us, including a clear path foul. Do our guys know we don't have a first round pick this coming draft?

seeing woodsons face annoys me. cant hear what he is saying but you can guess its something irrelevant to solving the problem.
