Carmelo Anthony Discussion Thread - All Things Melo

The important part of the video is Melo sitting on the bench shaking his head in disgrace of a poor defensive performance, rather than inform clueless Woodson this is the time u call, "TIME-OUT!". t

you hate melo as a player.. now u want him to be the coach... ain't the whispering in the coaches ear suppose to come from one of the 6 ass's....I mean assistant's next to him on the bench...

Kiyaman wants Melo to average 5 blocks a game and 10 assist...ignore him. He's not making any sense this year.

I might be underrating it because the main thing I think about is how bad this team is. I never felt this way during a season before where I don't even think about someone's individual above average performances much. Melo had twenty rebounds last week and I knew it was rare, but still wasn't anything that big to me. This team is so bad.

This season would be extremely different if World Peace was healthy. His ball movement, defense and 3pt shooting would of done us wonders.

I am threw with Carmelo Anthony!!!!

I have had enough of this guy and tonight put me at the end of my rope with him. If anybody didn't see what happened tonight in the 2nd half then you was watching a whole different game.Knicks was still playing awful in the 3rd and Melo went out of the game. It was like watching a completely different team out there.Everybody was toughing the ball, everybody was on the same page and the team had chemistry.During that time the Knicks came back and took the lead. They didn't just take the lead they took control of the game b/c the whole team was on the same page and was playing together. Bargnani was on fire and was scoring at will and so was Hardaway jr,Chandler. Then for some odd reason the coach put in Melo and kept Bargnani on the bench and down went the Knicks just like the Titanic!! The ball movement was gone, defense was gone and the chemistry was gone b/c Melo iso was back and it was brick after brick being shot by melo. There is no way melo should have been out on that court b/c the knicks was playing to good.Bargnani on the other hand should have been in the game and its ashame he didn't get to finish the game b/c he played his butt off.The knicks would have won with him and the others that started that run still out there to finish the game.

As long as Melo is here this what we got to look forward to and I am sick and tired of watching the same ol story over and over.I want Melo gone and I want him gone now!!!!

Well after we were clicking and took the lead, Woodson took out Prigs and put Felton in. That was the beginning of what started our skid. Felton didn't orchestrate the offense properly the rest of the time he was in. You're right, Melo took his signature long contested twos in the forth as well, but the Prigs/Felton swap killed us. Before we took the lead Prigs was running the offense based around the pick and pop with Bargs.. and it was working. Even JR started to settle down and knock down shots for a stretch. Prigs also sparked us with his hustle, forcing a couple turnovers and playing MCR tough and we took back the lead.

I will never understand Woodson's love affair with Felton. He's a terrible defender and not a good playmaker for a PG. When he's in the game I basically wait for him to screw up and I can't relax. Felton is awful.

Knicks are 0-5 since Chandler has come back to the starting line, but that's on Melo.
JR Smith missed 11 of his 16 shots with 5 lazy fouls, but that's on Melo.
Woodson played Pablo and Tim 17 & 16 minutes each, but that's on Melo.
Tyson Chandler got out rebounded by 6"8 Fowards and 6"7 PG...but of course, that's on Melito.
Felton vulnerable on defense, streaky on offense, plays 31 minutes by Woodson...that one is definitely Melo's fault.
Woodson refuses to acknowledge his team has been exposed switching on defense since 2011...but that's all on Melo.

Bargnani with 5 turnovers, 4 fouls and only 4 rebounds in 28 minutes...he scores 20 points on a hot night, could of scored more even though he's a career 43% FG shooter and him staying that hot is unrealistic....but we should of fed him more because he's Bargnani, his offense is unpredictable and he's been an unstoppable force ever since he's came to the NBA averaging a career of 15ppg on 43% FG shooting...Damn Melo, why no you pass the ball to the B E A S T known as Bargnani? These fans know who's the better option offense...it's definitely not Carmelo Anthony but Andrea Bargnani. We know his history with leading NBA offenses to success in his career.

Melo had 7 assist and lead the team in assist.....he's such a god damn stat padder, I want him off the team for doing productive things.
This thread makes me sick, sounds like a spoiled baby crying not knowing what he wants.
Knicks lose and you don't even know how to make sense of anything. Get yourself back together.

This is a Knicks team thats not playing hard for their loser of a coach, Woodson has a problem the guy is too stubburn with his defensive schemes and he doesn't adjust to in game situations. Melo is worth every penny of that contract, The brings it every night from out scoring his team to out rebounding his team and 2nd with assets on his team closing in on 130 assists this season.

As big as a knicks fan as I am I honestly hope Melo leaves and wins a title somewhere. He only has but so many prime years left and he shouldn't have to waste it with one of the most poorly constructed teams i've ever seen.

Melo needs a coach that will force him to play team ball the entire game...Melo should not be bringing the ball upcourt. He shouldn't have to take the final shot all the time. I like melo, i just wish he played more like LBJ, Durant, George.....Guess we may not ever see this happen. Honestly, i enjoyed our team more before Melo came here. Not to pick solely on Melo, as its a team game, and coach is just as liable

I believe Melo is open to playing that style, with Woodson he kinda just lets players do whatever they want. Melo isn't the only one guilty of this, everyone does it. It's a free lance style of play and personally I'm tired of it.

Felton, Smith, Amare, Barg, Chandler, Shumpert and Melo are all at their best when the ball is moving quickly.

When we sag on defense and slow the ball on offense, we melt as a team.

Metro come on....." You Believe "
Melo wanted to play like this he would not bring up the ball.
He would not get a argue about a call rather then leave us short on defense.
He would not get a Technical at a crucial point in the game.

There is no doubt Woody uses Melo wrong but then again I guess so did Dantonio and lets not forget Karl's issues with Melo....

Melo is a great individual player but he is not a team player..........

Personally I would love to see Felton sit and Prigioni take 32 minutes a game and let him run the offense and defense.

Good luck finding who that coach is. Melo has fooled and intoxicated so many with his offensive prowess. He is an ON HIS TERM type of cat and he's not changing after 12yrs in the league. Knicks/We deserve so much better than Dolan and Melo. It's about the how the names on the back of the jersey wear the name on the front of the jersey together. Unfortunately for the most part we have a collection of overrated players on this team, starting with Melo...Persona non Grada. Melo is built for a game of 21 unfortunately that's not how this sport is played.

Now here's what I posted in the Game Thread last night

He got most of those 3s in garbage...the team got the lead while he was on the bench, started the game like 0-5 0-6, got one of the most selfish tech's when the game was still in balance, and was responsible for not communicating with his players on defensive assignments. Played one of the worst 4th qrts you'll see.

Ironic he comes in we're up 90-86 after TimBug and Bargs establish somewhat of a groove he comes in and it becomes a Melo/J.R. chaotic nightmare

Start of 4th qrt
11:38 84-83 J.R. Smith makes 25-foot three point jumper (Pablo Prigioni assists)
11:14 Dewayne Dedmon misses two point shot 84-83

9:48 Evan Turner misses driving layup 84-87
9:47 84-87 Tyson Chandler defensive rebound
9:44 84-87 Tim Hardaway Jr. steps out of bounds turnover
9:44 Michael Carter-Williams enters the game for Lavoy Allen 84-87
9:44 Thaddeus Young enters the game for Elliot Williams 84-87
9:44 Spencer Hawes enters the game for Dewayne Dedmon 84-87
9:30 Evan Turner misses 14-foot jumper 84-87
9:30 84-87 Tim Hardaway Jr. defensive rebound

9:26 James Anderson shooting foul (Tim Hardaway Jr. draws the foul) 84-90
9:26 84-90 Tim Hardaway Jr. makes free throw 1 of 1
9:15 84-90 J.R. Smith shooting foul (Evan Turner draws the foul)
9:15 Evan Turner makes free throw 1 of 2 85-90
9:15 Evan Turner makes free throw 2 of 2 86-90
9:15 86-90 J.R. Smith lane violation
8:56 Official timeout
8:56 86-90 Carmelo Anthony enters the game for Andrea Bargnani
Notice the score went from 84-80 end of 3rd Philly......to 90-86 Knicks with Melo on the bench, we were decent offensively and defensively as Melo left the game when it was 79-75 Philly at the 2:32 mark in the 3rd
8:51 86-90 Carmelo Anthony misses 6-foot jumper
8:48 Evan Turner defensive rebound 86-90
8:41 Evan Turner makes 8-foot jumper 88-90
8:30 88-90 J.R. Smith misses 25-foot

7:01 James Anderson personal foul (J.R. Smith draws the foul) 88-90
6:48 88-90 J.R. Smith misses 14-foot jumper

6:47 88-90 Carmelo Anthony loose ball foul (Michael Carter-Williams draws the foul)
6:47 88-90 Carmelo Anthony technical foul(1st technical foul)
Notice We didn't score a single basket for 2 whole minutes and Felton just came back 30sec ago. The wheels started coming off after the Tech
6:47 Evan Turner makes technical free throw 89-90
6:37 Tyson Chandler blocks Michael Carter-Williams's layup 89-90
6:37 89-90 Iman Shumpert defensive rebound

6:15 76ers offensive team rebound 89-92

5:43 Michael Carter-Williams makes 24-foot three point jumper (Lavoy Allen assists) 93-92
5:16 93-92 Carmelo Anthony lost ball turnover (Michael Carter-Williams steals)
So we were up 4 before Melo came in and are now down 1, having only scored 2pts from Shumpert Free Throws........almost 4min have passed which proves our offense got real stagnant/ISO when he came in
5:11 Evan Turner makes three point jumper (Michael Carter-Williams assists) 96-92
5:09 Knicks Full timeout
4:45 96-92 Iman Shumpert misses three point jumper

3:32 98-95 Iman Shumpert offensive rebound
3:30 98-95 J.R. Smith misses 25-foot three point jumper
3:28 Evan Turner defensive rebound 98-95
3:15 James Anderson makes layup (Thaddeus Young assists) 100-95
We're officially down 5 and all the momentum is in Philly's favor wheels officially have come off. Notice Melo hadn't scored a single point yet, J.R. scored a 3pt shot and we called a timeout after this layup........GAME OVER!!!!!!!!!!

I stopped the log at this point because the game was over. It's all here for everyone to see you can't talk your way into any kind of defense case for Melo. Anyone who continues to in games like these should be ashamed of themselves

There is a clear difference between Prigioni and Felton. Its that differemce that has Woody stick with Felton.

Woody has to be let go soon....Why not hire PJ Carlisimo for the rest of the season. He did well with the Nets last year for a partial season.

Homeboy says everything right, but forget one thing .. The team QUIT on the ISO-Melo system (not puppet Woodson).
Mike Woodson's orders from the Knicks upstairs-Brass is to do whatever our Franchise super-star Carmelo Anthony wants to do. It is not the other way around (thats why all of lastseason "Old-Heads" left).

Melo has not change the performance he gave in Syracuse University (The same ole "jump-shot" move) may work well in the NCAA playoffs, and NBA regular season vs 60% of mediocre teams, but it doesnt work in a NBA playoff series.
Melo's performance lack creativity, decision-making, and the skills to be a team-player that improve or energize his teammates performance on the court. In Melo's 10 yrs in the NBA, its hard to find a teammate Melo gelled with.
Melo's rookie season, he had a 2 yr rehab healthy Marcus Camby (double-double 3 blocks), C-Nene, a young above the rim Birdman, and a 5th season Andre Miller at PG (backup PG-Earl Boykins) to pull off a 43 win season.
Melo had a better all-around team in his rookie season than Lebron, Wade, and Bosh.

What is the ISO-Melo system?
The ISO-Melo system is a one tempo system .. a halfcourt-set system for perimeter shooters.
This system stop teammates from moving without the ball around screens (example Novak).
This were the Nuggets system, now its the Knicks 48 minute system.

Whats wrong with the system other than Nuggets teammates, and Knicks teammates get tired of it:
The first 3 quarters (36 minutes) of each game, Melo receive 30 minutes of playingtime before the 4th quarter.

PG-Chauncey Billups style change that in Denver .. making Melo want out of Denver no matter how high the $$$ the Nuggets organization offered Melo on a Max contract.

Since Melo departure from Denver in 2010-11, the Nuggets had a better winning season than us Knicks each year.
