November 2nd, 1990The New York Knicks defeat the Charlotte Hornets in a thriller OT 134-130! Patrick Ewing led the Knicks scoring 38 points and grabbing 12 rebounds while Gerald Wilkins added 25 buckets. The victory was the Knicks first opening night win since 1984.

Recent meetings
January 24, 2014In a record breaking night at Madison Square Garden, fans were witnesses to the greatest single-game scoring performance in the franchise?s 68-year history; Carmelo Anthony led New York and scored a Knicks single-game record 62 points (23-35 FGA, 6-11 from Downtown, 10-10 FTA) in a 125-96 win over Bobcats on Jan 24, 2014. Anthony?s 62 points broke Bernard King?s all-time Knicks record of 60 on Dec 25, 1984 vs. Nets, and established a new NBA scoring mark for Garden IV, topping Kobe Bryant?s 61 for Lakers on Feb 2, 2009. This win snapped a five-game losing streak for the Knicks. New York outscored Charlotte in every quarter as they left no doubt all night in its victory. Charlotte was pace by Al Jefferson?s 25 points and nine rebounds over 31 minutes. Chris Douglas-Roberts added 14 points off the bench.
January 14, 2014New York?s season high, five-game winning streak was snapped as the Bobcats dominated the Knicks in a 108-98 victory at Time Warner Cable Arena. New York was paced Carmelo Anthony?s 20 points and six rebounds over 38 minutes. Amar?e Stoudemire continues his solid play off the bench with 17 points and four rebounds over 22 minutes. Raymond Felton posted 13 points and three assists over 29 minutes. Charlotte was led by Al Jefferson?s 35 points and eight rebounds over 39 minutes. Kemba Walker recorded 25 points, seven rebounds and five assists over 40 minutes.

Thanks for the great game thread. Very excited for this game tonight. Although it was a great win, the Cavs game was something where you'd expect our players to be amped. The game tonight is more telling for how much energy we can expect our players to bring to an average game this season. Let's go Knicks!

15 points in the first 4 and a half minutes, including a three from Melo which gives him 20,000 career points. Nice start on both ends of the court. Starting lineup seems to continue to work well together with Acy, Shump, and Dalembert making it very hard for the opposing team's offense to get any early rhythm. Let's keep it going. Let's go Knicks!

Kidd-Gilchrist takes one of the worst falls I've ever seen in a basketball game. Nobody's fault, just a fluke play.

Dalembert reminds me of how Jared Jeffries used to play offense off the ball. He's always looking to set a solid screen to get an open 3-pointer. Jeffries was severely limited in offensive talent, but he played a huge role in Novak being so lethal from 3 that one season. Overall, with the lead now 15 more than halfway through the 2nd quarter, we are doing a lot of these little things right.

Shump out there doing his thang .. 15 point Knicks lead
Shump must have heard me talking bout we shouldve drafted Lance

Wow, complete garbage effort the last 5 minutes of the 2nd quarter to completely erase all the good Knicks play up until that point. Very good chance if they keep doing what they're doing and we don't adjust, this 3rd quarter could be real ugly for us.

Only reasons we are still winning this game is Melo and Stat carrying us on the offensive end and Jefferson's terrible free throw shooting. Both teams playing their top guys heavy in the 3rd quarter, may become an endurance test to see who wins this game.

No excuse for how we close quarters. Every quarter now, we let the other team get the ball with 5 seconds or so left and get something like a layup for an easy score before the buzzer. Ridiculous. Losing this game now going into the 4th quarter. As he did with the Pacers, Stephenson is driving to the hole on every play and we have apparently no answer for him.

If we want a defensive big man, it has to be Dalembert or Aldrich. Jason Smith is quickly proving he can't be any kind of defensive anchor in the middle. Stat and Jason Smith as our two bigs is not working out, even with the offense we are getting from them.

I dont like these close games heading into the 4th qtr. .. Wsup Fisher? u played Stat all of the 3rd qtr., now letting Stat start the 4th qtr.

Melo, Acy, Dalembert, Shump, and Larkin all on the bench with less than 10 minutes left in the 4th. Will Fisher unleash the entire starting lineup together to close out the game?

JR starts to unravel in the 4th and Fisher sends Shump in for him. 1 million bonus points for Fisher. Already twice the coach Woodson was with us.

Huge hustle play by Prigioni to get us the ball back down by 1. Also, Dalembert finally back in the game with 7 minutes left after sitting pretty much the entire 2nd half with foul trouble. Time to turn the tide here. Let's go Knicks!

Incredible move by Melo to blow by Stephenson and give us back the lead with less than 4 minutes to go. Let's go Knicks!

Shump knocks down a huge three to tie the game on a play that Prigioni saved from disaster. Then Melo nails the go ahead jumper. I love Fisher rolling with Shump and Prigioni in the final minutes here.

Great defense to protect the 2 point lead, but man, what a lousy possession down the other end. Hornets with the ball, down by 2, and 36 seconds left. Let's go Knicks!
