Knicks to pursue Rondo.

Next season, keep waiting
The New York Knicks are one of several teams that the Boston Celtics have engaged in trade discussions involving point guard Rajon Rondo, sources have told ESPN.com?s Marc Stein.

That the Knicks have engaged the Celtics in talks regarding Rondo is intriguing. On one hand, they have to at least talk to the Celtics if Rondo is available. But is he a good fit for them?

If we can get Rondo and still stink enough to get a top draft pick I'm all for it. What do you think?

I don't think we have a pick to send them for years, so the only thing we could do is send them an equal contract that is expiring... a perfect fit would be the I'Talian for rondo, as salaries match up... BUT why would boston do that?? they want value for rondo... I don't see that we have any..

come on phil starting earning your keep... so far u are batting..zero...

If Phil sends out a 1st for Rondo his BA would be ZERO. The triangle as has often been stated does not need a great PG and Rondo is overrated imo.

Better to start building with a big man, see who you get in the draft before making any moves.

I agree. No more pick trading. We should be looking to acquire picks in a trade.

They want a 2015 1st, not sure what our plan or direction is if we're pursuing Rondo. I guess this would signal we're not overly enamored with landing a lottery pick this summer. I bet Phil isn't even the one working the phones. It's Mills and he's going nowhere fast.

i don't think Knicks stand a chance of getting Rondo. Celtdicks want draft picks for upcoming draft, plus talent; Knicks have neither to offer.

Probably wouldn't do it for less then a 1st round draft pick. Which from the looks of things will be a good one.

Who do we have of value besides Carmelo Anthony? Jose Calderone Maybe, but other then him and the expiring contract of stoudemire/bargnani (23.4 mill and 12 mill respectively) But that means taking on big payroll, just to get picks? We are scheduled to be about 19 million under cap. That's a big Number...I'd be happy with a lost season, right about now, the draft pick we have. Take the high first rounder and sign some Better players. Maybe trade some of our avg players for second rounders.
I'd take a second rounder for JR smith.
The young guys, Shumpert, Hardaway,I like them both...they just haven't performed well...have potential to be good role players or just big disappointments.
Shumpert, I don't know what we can get for him, he may do well somewhere else...but has struggled.
Hardaway Jr is kind of in the same boat as Jr smith, Prob worth a second rounder.
Cleanthony Early? Not sure a team would give us a first rounder for him? Not sure if he can play. Prob get a second rounder for him.

Is rondo the answer? does a ball heavy PG work with Carmelo? Does he fit the triangle? or would they(carmelo and rondo) be taking turns with more Isolation play.

sure enough... but to get picks we need to have 'players' that other teams want... I cant think of one on the knicks, that another team would give us a 2nd rounder.. 4get 1st rounders for... we are in hell... n I think we all know it including phil, who just came for the $$$$, just like his buddy Me-Lo...

there u go...rondo to dallas for some bit players and a number 1.... where the hell is phil... prob mediating...

I love that Boston had to make this trade without getting any budding stars in return. Sure they get a first round pick, but how much can they build and how fast? I'd love them to be irrelevant for a good long time. No playoffs, no all-stars, no nothing. Great trade for Dallas. Rondo gives them a dimension that they didn't already have and may make them a nightmare opponent in the playoffs if they find some chemistry over the next 50 or so games.

Great trade for Dallas because they have the pieces surrounding Rondo just like when the Celts had their big 4. His talent would have been wasted in NY so I'm glad we didn't get him. Boston got some decent role players and a couple of more picks, now it's time for Ainge to start shaping that team into a contender, he's got a ton of assets to work with.

agreed, great trade for Dallas, getting a major upgrade at PG (league assist leader) to complement Dirk in his final years, the alley-oop king Chandler, 3 point specialist Parsons, and one of league's best SG Monta Ellis. I heard Mark Cuban finalized the deal in the green room of The Colbert Report, just goes to show how that guy does everything as he multitasks. not a fan of Cuban, but i appreciate him for trying, for being a fan of the game and his team. f*ck the celtdicks.

haha. been hanging at OBGlobal.net mostly, Crazy 8's Knicks site. i check in here a lot, but it's hard to write on 2 forums when the knicks suck so damn bad. at least the Rondo trade was an exciting development.

I was just looking at Rondo's stats and he's had big falloff in production on both sides of the ball the last couple of years, question is, is it his knee injury he's coming back from or is he a shell of his former self.

Rondo is still a great passer and that Dallas starting 5 looks awesome on paper so I think it's a good gamble for the Mavs to get him.

I seen it coming .. after the Tyson Chandler trade in June.
Mavs vs Heats in 2015 FINALS

Phil Jackson is a FLOP in NY .. say what u want
Phil is in NY for the $$$ too.
Tyson Chandler was the player to trade to get Rondo in NY in June. (3 way trade)
If Phil would've went after Rondo in June, i bet my last dollar Steve Kerr & Fisher would've sign on to the Knicks coaching staff. Phil Jackson got the Knicks looking like the 2013-14 Lakers, a 27 win season D.League Team.
Rondo was the only player available to take individual-Melo to winning status.
Melo would've had to follow Rondo leadership, the same way Melo had to follow Iverson, Billups, and Kidd leadership to get a 50 win season.

I hate being right when it comes to the Knicks making the next NBA team better ..
Trading 7.0 Bill Cartwright to the Chicago Bulls to win 3 championship in a row
Trading Camby n Nene to Denver Nuggets
Taking Marbury & Penny contracts from Phoenix Suns
Trading 7.0 Nazr to the Spurs to have Twin Towers to win the championship
Trading David Lee to the Golden State Warriors
Trading W.Chandler & Gallo with picks included to Denver for a selfish ball-hogger Melo
Taking Barg contract to make the Toronto Raptors the number 1 winner in the Atlantic Division
Trading Tyson Chandler to Dallas Mavs to build Cuban a champion contender team
What's next? Trading with Philly to make the 76ers a playoff team next season?

Mavs vs Heats? haha. maybe Mavs/Cavs, has a better ring to it.

wrong, Steve Kerr wanted to stay west coast with family.
wrong, Rondo would not have saved the Knicks.

agree with most of your assessments re Knicks making other teams better. lots of lame moves, with Dolan's blessings. ce la vie, when your owner is a nitwit.

i'm still on the PJ train, i think Knicks needed to suck this year in order to get better next year, and the next. who knew they would develop a loser mentality that emanates like a funk?

anyway, i wish Rondo and Chandler good luck. i think Rondo's renewed health and having a kickass team around him will bring him back to all star status. assists are exactly what that team needed to take it to the next level, glad they're not in the east.

Great points, ESPECIALLY the bolded. U don't just trade 20/10 big men that can also pass, period. And that trade for Carmelo even w/o hindsight was a bad move, just for the fact that Carmelo was being a drama queen and unreasonably forced New York to suck him off and gut their roster for him, instead of waiting to sign as a free agent. Even before Stoudemire landed in town, that was a good TEAM that was being built. The team we had before Anthony was more fun to watch than this ballclub w/ a former part-time (I say former due to post-payday) superstar, masquerading as a leader, degenerating the team concept. Melo wishes he was ever as good a talent as Iverson

Maybe, he Cavs will be lucky to get out of the first round ....
I dont see the Cavs beating Lowry, or Rose, or Walls team in a series, unless they add a veteran Big n Guard by trade deadline.
D.Wade happen to be the best "leadership super-star" in the eastern conference.
D.Wade teammates will follow his lead in the postseason games.
It's a shame Heats coach Spoe weakness of coaching big-men are known throughout league.

I had faith in rookie coach Fisher and president Phil Jackson, until
i looked at the Knicks 2014-15 roster at the start of the regular season.
My expectation of ($60M) President Phil Jackson were to put together a Knicks playoff roster his first season as the president of one of the league highest paying teams.
I still believe Phil trading for Rondo on draft night in June, would have set all the balls rolling to become a top contender within 2 to 3 seasons.
