Official 2017 NBA Draft Thread - June 22

Speaking of Orlando, their 5th pick Hezonja is looking like a bust. Orlando should have been a perfect place for a young player to develop, providing playing time and opportunity for them. The draft is a gamble plenty of high first round picks don't make it, I thought Hezonja was a reach at 5 last year, Knicks need to avoid that by not picking the French kid at say 5 or 6.

Had we drafted Curry with his spaghetti ankles first couple seasons we would have traded him for "The Great Carmelo Anthonaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!"

Denver still would've been better post trade as they have been since 2011...so yeah you're probably right and1

maybe. but maybe they would've kept him, on account of his spaghetti ankles, like they kept landry fields.

Orlando is absolutely terrible at developing their youth....I encourage with kind regards to not look at them as any barometer to gauge what the Knicks should do

Payton
Vucevic
Gordon
Oladipo
Harkless

Have all spent considerable amounts of time coming off the bench or traded their career there, only to be reinserted back into the starting lineup. That's why Rob Hennigan has publicly spoken on the uncertainty of remaining their GM heading into the summer. He's going to get fired! Payton now in his 3rd season officially looks like a starter after having to take a back seat to DJ Augustin..."are you kidding me"

This is the same organization that traded for Evan Fornier and tried to make him their go-to-guy after they drafted Oladipo[same position](who they traded away for Ibaka who they eventually traded away in less than a season). They traded Harkless to Portland(I said last yr we should've traded for him), for a 2020 2nd round pick...disgusting! It was one of the reasons Scott Skiles quit because he implied he was being told what to do on the bench from up top....sounds familiar huh(Phil/Hornacek/Our Knicks)?

They traded Ibaka for Terrence Ross and a 1st. Decent job with the 1st but why would they then start Terrence Ross over Hezonja when you're a lottery team? Dewayne Dedmon is playing the most minutes of his career on the championship caliber Spurs team but was struggling for 2 1/2 seasons getting lost in the sauce in Orlando. They also let Tobias Harris go for Brandon Jennings and Ersan Illyasova....laughable

I'm not saying Hezonja isn't in the suspect category at the moment but don't place all the blame at his feet. Orlando is a mess right now. They better be glad they have a chance this summer to atone for some of their sins

Actually Hezonja is exactly who we should target because you want to get players before they could uptick with a much higher reward. I have no problem if the Knicks draft Ntilikina as long as they've done adequate homework on him. He's no different than taking a chance on #kporzee. He's similar considering positive physical tools given the position he'd play/need filled. I do prefer others over him though, but I do like what I see from the kid.

Curry would've been demanded by Masai, and we would've relented. Landry Fields was never the prime get he was in the "keep asking to get more" group. Don't forget who we were trading with and who was ODing on viagra for Melo!

I think the only players we should target in feee agency or trades are young guys (and buy low types).... no more patching together a vet supporting cast.

Trade Melo for a young player and a draft pick or just keep him and let him understand his role (play defense, defend, pass, score).... Rivers and a future 1st is fine by me tho....

I was on draft express and I see Frank N is a brotha so at least he's got that going for him. The problem is a 6'5" 170lbs it's huge adjustment to the NBA. Latest mock had Daaron Fox falling to us a 6th which I would be ok with.

Actually I think he's 6-6 and has a 7'0" wingspan at point guard. That's crazy! Keep in mind Gannis/Durant/Wiggins not exceptionally physique players but adjusted very quickly to the league. Put some respeck on Frank's name...lol

BTW the NCAA Championship game was competitive but one of the worst offensive games to watch. Justin Jackson may have hurt his stock(horrific shooting, he's better than that) although he found ways to have impact on the game. He's like a cross between Nick Batum and Shawn Marion

Yep that 2nd half was awful I actually fell asleep and finished it up this morning on DVR...sometimes the officials need to swallow that whistle the firsts halfs lively gameflow grinded to a a halt and both teams had major foul trouble. Neither teams shot well either, but the big Pole big man blew too many point blank layups for his team to win um um um:(

Zags missed 9-10 FTs and Karnowski shot 1-8 (and the team's misses 12-13 layups/dunks.

Then again, UNC missed ten FTs too and shot something like 3-26 from downtown.

Completely awful.

Between the poor shooting and the refs it was one of the worst title games I've seen in a while.

Also, Zags coach a complete moron... Their PH hurts his ankle, down 1, with 30 seconds.... and he leaves the kid in to throw the game away. The kid wasn't going to take himself out.... and you knew he was going to force the issue, while being guarded by an NBA talent and hobbled!

Coach the darn game, control the action, and if you keep him in the game make sure it's only as a decoy!

I was watching the Lakers Griz game and I think they might have an interest in Melo. If they draft Ball the backcourt will be crowded and they may be willing to move Russell or Clarkson. They're playing small ball and Mozgov is now a 16M DNP bench player so they may be motivated to move Moz contract for Melo. They also have a 1st from the Lou Williams trade they could throw in, they could use a vet like Melo with all those young guys. The Lakers might not be a playoff team but PJ has obvious connections there and Melo would love playing in LA.

u ain't trading Me-Lo unless u want 2-3-4 $hitty players/contracts in return... best case if the new CBA allows is to cut him, n spread his 50m over the next 5years... I don't see a 'new' home for a 33year old slug... but again I'm not smart... that's why we have pjax...

Not sure if Lakers are a match either way, but we have to hope Melo still wants the limelight over winning and is willing to play anywhere a team is willing to keep paying him.

Melo overall has sunk costs, therefore his value is pretty wretched right now

This was an easy call, Orlando is ripe for picking. They own picks 4, 23, 34 in this summer's draft we need to get cozy with them should things go better than expected for us. I bet the farm they want D-Fox in this draft

Lakers may feel it's their time to take city back from Lakers. Clippers window is closing, and the best way to ensure that is to prevent them from adding a player of Melo's caliber.

Lakers have another lottery pick coming up.... Add Melo to the mix.... suddenly they're in a position to attract a guy like Westbrook....

Toss in the new management shakeup and reality that comes with trying to make that splash....

Why not bring Melo in for his last season (of his current contract).

Pretty sure Moz contract would have to go for the Lakers to consider this and we most likely would need a 3rd team involved to absorb him or PJ could go with Moz as our backup 5 but I would think Noah's contract would have to be stretched at some point.

A few players their targeting they've recently had on the team and the Saric for AG is so sweet and salty rich...lmao!

Hennigan's explanation was awful. Seriously we could run their team a helluva lot better, what a shame! This is really bad on so many levels I don't where to begin

Can't see Luke Walton wanting to deal with Melo and I can't see Melo being ran out of town to go to Lakers...now Clippers maybe so. Chicago could be a wildcard too

it may sound weird, but i wouldn't rule out the wizzies either. ya never know.

That would make perfect basketball sense.... they arguably have best starting 5 in EC (the aggregate talent of all 5).... Melo could be their 6th man scorer and 4th quarter closer.... He would return home.... but, of course, Melo and his wife would never want to move there.... Foolish tho....

Melo, Wall, Beal, And Co would be lethal.
